A confrontation between a civilian and Nigerian police officers has sparked reactions online after a civilian accused a police officer of behaving unusually and allegedly smoking what he described as “colos.”

According to the account presented in the video, the civilian initially began filming after the officer allegedly harassed him. As the encounter continued, he reportedly noticed that the officer’s behaviour appeared abnormal, prompting him to keep his camera rolling.

The civilian then confronted the officer, questioning why a law enforcement officer would allegedly engage in such behaviour. He further suggested that the officer appeared to be under the influence of whatever he had allegedly smoked.

The situation became more heated when another police officer intervened and attempted to stop the civilian from filming his colleague. The civilian, however, questioned why the officer was now intervening to protect his colleague when he had not stepped in earlier, while the same colleague was allegedly embarrassing him during the confrontation.

The exchange eventually turned physical, with the men seen arguing and jostling as bystanders watched.

The video, shared on X by @dammiedammie35 on September 4, has attracted hundreds of thousands of views and generated debate over the conduct of the officers, particularly the attempt to prevent the civilian from documenting the encounter.

I hear that some police no longer arrest the youths for yahoo yahoo but rather search for hard drugs and once they find any, they extort them and if you don’t cooperate, detention straight. I ask what do they do with the “exhibits” sef?

But here in Lagos , let me be fair to them ....90% of police in Lagos are either smoking marijuana , other drugs and always high on cheap alcohol.

That civilian is my hero. He really tried exposing the druggy policeman. Same police man in that condition with AK47 will kill anyone without even a thought. Though I didn't see the tag number....hopefully the police big boss wiuld be able to track the policeman and do the expected justice.....

i am a very stubborn person but I will not confront an armed police man on the road.npf has killed more Nigerians than hiv ever has.one got me arrested on the road so I followed him to the office.we got to the office I started calling aigs and digs e shock begin look me.this guys fit kill person for road where will u bring evidence from.dead man no go fit talk em side of the story

I don't know if you know Freedom Park on Lagos island close to St Nicholas hospital.
There is a police station called Lion building close to the park .


I got to the park relax , at night I do see police hanging around Brook street , the street is just back of Lion building can you imagine? getting high on cheap alcohol. Sometime around Campus and Ajele street .
All these are in proximity to their station .
No one can tell me , that their ogas are not aware.
