So you think making verbal sounds is what constitutes public nuisance? So if police arrest you at 2am for walking down the road, you will ask him if you were making any verbal sounds?
So walking 2am is a crime wow!

All these English you are speaking, sergeant yakubu just dey look you with one eye, hope you remember the Apo 6, if you can, avoid what will make you cross paths with the men in black at night or lonely places. A word is enough for the wise.
Now you're just sounding unreasonable.
All the best.

Lol but a preacher with a megaphone and bells with public announcement device in public spaces doing the same isn't constituting "PUBLIC NUISANCE"

Lol... You're ignorant of your own rights as a citizen. You can walk at any freaking time of the day as long as there's no curfew and you're not doing anything suspicious. Walking alone at odd hours does not constitute a crime.
Ever heard of vagrancy?

Lol... That's a whole different thing entirely. And even that is not a crime.

How is it now a crime to practise your religion as far as you didnt commit any criminal offence with it or disturb other's peace. The man was simply walking on his own practising what he now believes in! How is that an offence ? All this ill mannered and illiterate vigilantes should be checked and enlightened

Public nuisance is not a crime in his case.

It's the excessiveness of ordinary vigilantes thinking they're military commandoes and police at the same time

Worryingly:
Apparently, I missed the part where he committed a crime that warranted an "arrest".

So many non-state actors arrogating powers to themselves in Nigeria.

Shame
Political authorities prefer the mainstream religions (Christianity and Islam) because they don't have any consequences.
Swear by the bible or qu'ran and do whatever you like afterwards and nothing happens.
That is because the god they invented there is "merciful".
The day politicians agree to swear by the traditional gods is the day that we'll begin to have responsible and accountable leadership.
Not a single politician who claim to be a Christian or Muslim actually lives the life. They just choose to identify by those religions because religion itself is a cover for evil and atrocities.

Prison for what? What crime has he committed? How is making content as a juju man a crime?

What if that's his new religion? Everyone has his or her own freedom of religion as long as theyre not hurting others in the society.
If the state has a law against such practices then your defence is a total waste of time. Now that he has been arrested you go release am and stop disturbing us here

I was trying to find that within the OP too, I'm 100% certain the constitution guarantees freedom of religious expression and also the protection from religious persecution.

Police can't arrest you for walking down the road at 2am. Any such arrest is illegal that police in Nigeria abuse the civic rights doesn't make it legal

The App 6 were accused of being armed robbers, now if we are to understand the claim by rights activist that they were falsely accused we can walk back from that reality to investigate the true circumstances of the event.

But a police man can not arrest you at 2am without just cause i.e suspicion

You have said it all, the church of today is a glorified village meeting and there's a need of spiritual connections with God, since he cannot get in church, he has to seek in the world
FSBoperator:
Church nah just Social club for these people.

Hardly any true Christian among them but they will be claiming champions of Christianity

See a so-called knight of the Catholic church turn voodooist

Reminds me of one Catholic Reverend from same Anambra who left the church and became a juju priest.

Arrested for being a "nuisance factor"... That's a new one.
Dude had palm fronts in his mouth so he definitely wasn't making any verbal sounds, what exactly are you arresting him for? I
My bro, I thought about it too. Initially, I was confused about his "arrest" as to what his crime was. I had to read/view through severally to be sure..

Na really "nuisance factor". Black man and (frivolous) doings..

The only logic I can draw from this story is that, those local vigilantes just acted like the hisbah of the north with the same practice our own people would be angry against and condemn..
Re: “Akachaam” Arrested in Nnewi During Spiritual Cleansing Exercise (video) by Blunt99: 7:09am On Sep 08
Why is he arrested?
What is his crime?

Your body didn't have those details.

Or your Vigilante now go around arresting people indiscriminately now? undecided

Very pathetic of the Vigilante.

They now arrest people for no crime now...

Then, Christains should be arrested for morning cry and street Evangelism, if his only crime is having palm frond in his lips and walking around. undecided

When I watched this on Facebook days ago, I thought it was a content.

So wearing a red cloth, holding a bell and having palm fronds in your mouth is now a crimehuh?

On March 21 2027, a lot of Catholics will hold fresh palm fronds in the hands and we will see how many of them that will be arrested by the vigilant group.
Re: “Akachaam” Arrested in Nnewi During Spiritual Cleansing Exercise (video) by Hezmatosky210: 7:55am On Sep 08
It ok now. But let's assume o, you see a reverend father on the street fully dressed in cassock spraying holy water, singing and praying. Will he also be arrested?
I am a catholic from birth, and I must say that this man's arrest is unlawful. If hausa dey kill our people doing evangelism, won't we condemn? Now look at we ourselves are doing to ourselves. Maybe o, there's more to this. But if na what i saw in the video, and the story together with people's comments here, haba my brother e never reach to arrest him naw. Las las, that guy can sue you people and he will win kiss
