Yes, son, because if more of nigerians pay an income tax, there would be more of us incentivised to do something about corruption...and thus governments would run the country better, or face the anger of the people

The curent system we have, of selling oil money and sharing the money, facilitates corruption because those who control the sharing at all levels have power. Unless you are suggesting we replace them with angels..and even angels can be tempted, lol...there is no way corruption would stop.

The china that some of you admire, and the USA..they pay tax and they are productive nations. Corruption cannot work in such an area because it would harm the money making ability of the nation. That's why they take it seirous.

Nigeria on the other hand, oil money go flow, whether people are dressed in aso ebi or adire or in rags, so our leaders do not care, and to some extent people do not care.

We have tried your way for over 60 years, the corruption thing self..I have been hearing people say 'Let us fight corruption' for as long as I have lived. And up till now it is still with us, because we do not want to do what needs to be done..change our economic paradigm
Did you just pick only this part from my reponse to your comment? Did you read all my comment like i read yours?

Mek i ask you again, pay tax, pay tax pay tax! from which jobs? Govament are not providing jobs but you are suggesting people pay tax. what? you even suggested 100000 a month tax. No wahala!! But many naigeerians are streets hawkers and menial jobbers who do not earn up to 20000 a month.

Before expecting others to share their experience, come out clean, you Japa'd for financial success, did you achieved it or not?

Any Nigerian saying he or she Japa'd for any other reason other than financial success and a better future is a liar trying to console himself.

Most if not all Nigerians that Japa'd abroad moved because they wanted better opportunities to succeed financially and for their children to also have better opportunities to make it when they come of age, any other reason is nothing but lies and consolation. Unless you are a wanted criminal in Nigeria that ran away to hide from your crime back home shocked

UK is not abroad, it's a semi-Africa with good roads and working system but it will soon become Afghanistan as Muslim extremist increase in their number and gradually take over the crime-supporting and encouraging nation called UK that enables and support political criminals in Africa to destroy black African nations and bring their loot to UK. Karma will surely catch up with UK whether they like it or not so I will encourage every Nigerian living in UK to plan their exit to better nations before the next 20 years when MiddleEast Mslms will start the full take over of UK.
He ended up saying lots of things, unlike you, my friend.

Seriously, how would it be possible for street hawkers, barrow pushers, labourers, groundnut sellers, moi moi sellers to pay 1000k tax a month? Seriously? These people are nearly around 300 million of them because the remaining 50 million are a little bit above poverty.

As i said, oil money would be enough to provide basic needs for 350 million naigeerians. There are not evidence that oil money wouldn't be enough.

Why would one politician, just one person looted 220 billion naira why? Just one man! I have not mentioned the others. What does one man need 220 billion naira for? even if it is for all his generation to come they still wouldn't need such amount.

Then stop complaining about bad service. You are all poor. Enjoy your government of borrowed money and oil money sharing for fake life.

One day, when you are older, you will see what I was trying to tell you, but till then, continue to think I am an opressor and tinubu supporter.

The UK built its wealth on the exploitation of its colonies
India for instance was far richer than UK when it began colonizing it, after plundering India for 200 years they left India the poorst nation on earth
These western colonial masters thought they can eat their cake and still have it
They plunder a country and wonder why its wretched and poor citizens are looking for asylum in their developed western nations
For every action there is equal and opposites reaction

I am not complaining, it would be ridiculous to expect people who are earning from hand to mouth to pay tax, although i pay tax, i pay a lot of taxes and i don't live fake life.

Show me where i said you are a Tinubu supporter? I am not a supporter of any politician including Obi, they are all the same recycled people.

The only man i would support if i must support some body is Sowore he does appear as a career politician and he has not been in govament before

Even when you have the money. It is only at that point in time. Pray that no calamity befalls like car theft, health problem for you and everyone around you, kidnapping, house on fire, loose your job. It is then you will will know if you are okay not to japa. Many people who japa never plan it but when one of these things happens, you will have to explore the opportunity. Somebody in our church came to the UK because the Kidnapper kept on threatening him. They once kidnapped his wife and was released. They have their own hospital and well settled in Niger Delta before fleeing.
You are right though, assuming all is we then Nigeria become sweet.

My brother

U.K is not meant for the faint hearted.
When I was in the U.K that is when I know that we Africans are pampered by our loved once.

Here in Nigeria I eat at least 2 meals a day without working for a whole week or if business is bad. I get credit alert for doing nothing from my friends, toasters and family members.

But in the U.K no one even mistakenly send me £1 by mistake. You work for what you earn and earn what you work for, No free money any were there.

Work, Work, Work, Shift, Shift, Shift
I saw my roommate once a week at times. grin grin

U.K No be anybody Mate. Am doing very well for myself currently in Nigeria.

Thank God for everything
So you ran back to where you can get free meals and toasters will send you money.

Me too left naija thesame year to United States in the month of April. Yes, there's no regret about this decision and if I have to choose again, I would choose this immigration.

That's if one is doing well financially, you can take care if bills around you, provide basic necessities for yourself and family. For a job seeker who is looking for job to no avail relocating to somewhere that can give him job can't be quantified. Nigeria is only sweet when you have money, the environment is laid back and relaxing.
I disagree with you most of you want work that will be paying you for doing nothing

Why I said so is a job already in place before you are employed is lazy work

Obansanjo said be creative there is no job at a university graduation but most of you think is a joke that's when he was president in Nigeria

Now how many years back the reality is hitting us and we are blaming everyone for our not listening approach to issues

Most of you? Meaning what exactly? It seems you don't know how to express yourself on when talking with someone you know nothing about. I already know the kind of person you are so need to engage with you sincerely.

LIE.
Like Nigeria, they left India a relatively enjoyable place. Like Nigeria, Indians themselves ran their country to the ground. If the British were in charge of Nigeria till today, there'd have been no civil war, and if you're corrupt YOU GO TO JAIL!!!
Our courts, schools, police, hospitals, etc will not be how they are now!

The mistake lies in assuming that japa will automatically give you a good, non-soul-crushing job. Many folks in the land you're japaing to are unemployed for a reason! cheesy

Firstly, can someone please explain why Tinubu and other politicians choose to go to France and the UK for their "holiday", rather than supporting indigenous enterprises and spending quality time in places like Obudu, Campaigne La Tropicana, etc?

Not meaning to brag please, I don't know, but I've gotten used to life with constant power supply, constant hot or cold drinking water in the taps/shower, well-behaved way of life, good roads and security everywhere, no harassing police or checkpoints, freedom to be able to buy ANY (non-luxury) item I want, own a home, easily travel all around Europe, while still being able to support my siblings, comfortably their pay school fees/medical bills, invest and acquire properties in Nigeria.

I guess it's different strokes for different folks.

They say that there's no place like home, but if I was to make a choice, it's a no-brainer about which place I'll call home, between Nigeria and what's happening with the cost of living (food is actually more expensive in Nigeria than in the UK!), inflation, insecurity, unreliable power supply, corruption, dishonest/disrespectful political office holders compared to the lifestyle that I described in the second paragraph.

September 30th is also my fourth year anniversary of leaving Nigeria for the same country.

I'm forever thankful to God for his mercies.
