The point I am making here is, you can’t come and shout about defence when your midfielders are not on the field. We sold Enzo and failed to replace him and our main ball winner in the middle is injured. A major function of the midfield is to shield the defence. Without Rice and Guimaraes, that Arsenal defence will be exposed and concede heavily against a prolific attack.

If Caicedo returns and we get another midfielder by January, Timbros and his gang will now say Alonso has done what they clamored for. We know their antics but we will expose it early.

Real Madrid with defensive greats like Sergio Ramos,Carvajal,Pepe,Nacho,Marcelo,were conceding goals with reckless abandon but guess why people didn't notice?

Nobody is obsessed with keeping clean sheets. What people are saying is no matter how much we keep scoring, if the defence will be conceding cheap goals, we will keep having problems.

Nobody will talk about how Maresca Ruined Gusto for us.

We signed Gusto because he was a promising right back at Lyon. He came through their academy, broke into the first team and became one of the exciting young players coming through alongside Rayan Cherki and Bradley Barcola. Chelsea even had to fight off competition from other Premier League clubs to get him.

Then he came to Chelsea and under Pochettino, when Reece James was injured, Gusto stepped up. He was doing well enough that people were genuinely asking whether James would automatically walk back into the team when he returned.

Gusto was never a world class player, but he had a clear identity. He was a right back with pace, energy and attacking ability. Then Maresca started constantly inverting him and asking him to operate in midfield.

Now he looks uncomfortable both as a midfielder and as a right back. That’s what frustrates me. We had a promising right back and somehow turned him into a player who looks like he doesn't know where his best position is anymore
