The extortion in public institutions in Nigeria is on another level. After paying N26,500 for PG form, applicants are still required to pay between N10,000 to N20,000 to the PG School as 'admission processing fee'. What is now the purpose of the N26,500 fee for forms?

Why should a PG applicant pay another fee for processing of admission after purchasing form? It is this same corruption and greed that has eaten deep into the system that has kept the country in a retrogressing condition.

The authorities of the school should look into this extortion.

Please moderators, do the needful. Let the authorities know what is happening at UNIZIK.

MANY people will NOT understand how WICKED the average Nigerian is UNTIL they have caused to engage with them.

Especially those in Public Institutions/Establishment.

MANY of the problems in our Public Sector is because of CORRUPT workers.
You CAN'T get anything done WITHOUT bribes and EXTORTIONS.

Airport workers will FLEECE you.
Police will FLEECE you.
Hospital staffs will FLEECE you.
Ministry staffs will FLEECE you.

Even Public Universities are now FLEECING you.

In my state, the Government are giving out FREE prepaid meters.
But you'll NEVER find it.
If you go there, they'll tell you it's NOT available.
UNLESS you PAY for it.

They make people pay HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of Naira for something the Government made FREE.

And IF you try to ask why they are so CORRUPT and EXPLOITATIVE, they'll tell you it's because their salary is TOO small.
Meanwhile, they are some of the most WELL-PAID people in Nigeria.

They are just GREEDY.

Then when the Government tries to CURB their excesses, they'll THREATEN strike.

Anytime I have cause to deal with Nigerian Public workers, I come away feeling FLEECED and laying GENERATIONAL CURSES like a struggling market woman who's just been DUPED with a fake transfer.

They COMPLAIN about corrupt politicians.
But MANY of them are WORSE.

That's why we need DEATH SENTENCE for petty crimes in the Public Sector.

From the Politicians to the lowliest workers.

Why will you EXTORT people who are already STRUGGLING?

When I applied for MSc in this same institution many years ago, I was unhappy about the way and manner they handled everything.

The organisation and everything was a total off. I no go there again!

To apply for PhD studies in UNILAG sef, they will not open portal for you to pay until it is confirmed that there is opening for you in your program let alone charging you one caricature fee. And M.Sc is one-off payment before you sit for the selection exams.

You are lying from the pit of hell. It is either you are deliberately being mischievious or you do not ever want to graduate from UNILAG.

The screenshot below from the UNILAG website says it all that you may not even be a student in UNILAG. M.Sc Admission application form into UNILAG is a single fee of N40,000. Bank charges etc takes it a little,above N40k, say around N42k in total.

A colleague mine complained of this same thing after paying about 50k to obtain a PhD form from the same institution. I thought after obtaining form and applying for transcript from previous school, next is to wait for admission. If they admission is successful, you pay the acceptance fee. In this case he's yet to be given admission and they're demanding for processing fee.

Secondary school is even the worse. A convent secondary school is charging parents 120,000 naira to provide exercise books and textbook to the children. You must buy the books from them, you can't buy it elsewhere and you must pay before your child will resume school.This school is being run by Catholic reverend sisters oo. Universities are learning extortion from secondary school

One of the causes is the poor remuneration of workers in Nigeria! Everybody is now looking for survival means!

Nigeria's civil service is long overdue for reforms! If governments know they cannot pay workers living wages, let them reform the civil service so as to pay workers hourly for the periods they worked and stop having workers work 9-5 for 5 days a week and 26 days per month. This will enable workers keep multiple jobs based on their capabilities!

The current system is not working! People's salaries no longer last up to 10days after being paid! How do you want them to survive if not by "fleecing" others! Do we even think at all in this country!

The first payment is for application form, if you are successful you now pay for the admission processing fee...

If unilag decide to bring it together then it's their choice.

40 thousand is still higher than what unizik is charging....
