APC agenda at work. Donald Duke remains the best governor Cross River has ever had. When it comes to the most useless ones, we give it to Liyel Imoke and Ayade.

Tinapa was a project that was supposed to be a great one but it failed cuz Donald Duke make one great mistake, the location he used!

I once listened to Ben Ayade / Rufai on one interview like that and Ben explained why the project isn’t viable..

Imagine using like 100m monthly for the maintenance and you barely make 5m a month. You wan create a project like tinapa and you go create ham for somewhere as even far as 7/8hours from inside calabar. He said even their calabar people barely go and the distance part of the major reasons..

But on TikTok, what some analysts said is that this coastal road might revive Tinapa for better..

Location is business..
Stop lying or being ignorant, Tinapa Resort is different from Obudu Cattle Ranch

Tinapa is barely 20-30mins from Calabar, stop making a fool out of yourself.

By his oga, you mean your brother Obasanjo abi? Did Osinbajo sign any project as a VP to Buhari despite being acting president several times? Atiku was never acting president under Obasanjo, neither has Shettima ever been under Tinubu. Are you now sewing the pattern?
Atiku was head of privatisation council then.

I went for a trip there soon after Duke left power.

I was shocked at how empty the place was. The Amber Hotel close to it. Beautiful to look at but desolate.

Crazy to see. Billions of naira ( at the time) down the drain. So empty we were one of maybe 3 groups of people visiting that Saturday. Merchants complained about the exorbitant rent. Most of the shops were unrented.

Horrible to see.

Insecurity and poor purchasing power is the koko. The location is good for such tourism since it needs nature, close to nature. The reality is that those with the purchasing power are centered mainly in Lagos, Abuja, PH and main state capitals. That is bad for a large country, wealth should be spread across. Now even at that, security fear is the koko. Nigeria can make mad money off tourism even among her citizens first. Nigeria has very young population who wishes to travel, explore, have sex and enjoy. The problem is security, even if u fly, u go still use road waka. So people are scared of traveling to far places.
Nigeria can be fixed if she fixes her core structure, stop the lies and allow love to lead so that people who share similar native culture, mother tongue, tradition can willfully form regions, this will bring love and strong bond builds country. As regions become viable, Nigeria becomes viable.

100m monthly for maintenance? Nigerian politicians and overly inflated figures. Do they rebuild facilities every month?
What’s the staff count and how much are they paid?

That is not true. Tinapa is not 6, 7 hours from Calabar. Just 25 minutes on a good day and probably 45 minutes in traffic.

Yes, the location is challenging but I think that was because he was looking for a resort like setting beside a large body of water that is unspoiled by development and is expandable.

There were plans to link it with a monorail from the ICC and there were plans with a dedicated and direct road and bridge link.

However the kick of the whole thing was the usual, a poor economy. And like many other white elephants the business model was elitist and out of touch with reality.

That is why the best model of governance is one that creates an economy that works for all. Bottom up, citizen targeted sustainable prosperity. Teach, lead and seed your citizens into enterprise, productive enterprise of tangible goods and services. I.e.the making of stuff.

Granted he had a vision for tourism and entertainment. But such consideration takes a long long time to fruition. Time the citizens just didn't have.
Re: I Inherited Debts And Contingent Liabilities From Donald Duke - Imoke by Angelfrost(m):
Tinapa's failure is a huge indictment on this 3rd world nation's ailing tourism sector.

In my opinion, it was a terribly missed opportunity.

Another huge miscalculation was the state and nation economy, especially the steadily weakening purchasing power.

Same reaon why thriving foreign businesses failed to firmly get established here as well: ShopRite, Uber, and several others.

Donald Duke had a bright idea.. Unfortunately, he overestimated his state's and nation's overall socioeconomy.

It was a poorly conceived project with monies that would have been better allocated elsewhere but Imoke still did next to nothing while in office and is part of the reason why the useless Ayade found his way to the governor's seat.

Using Tinapa as an excuse is beyond daft.

Cross River went down the drain from the moment he got sworn in... Ayade permanently buried that state.
