TRAGEDY: GUO BUS ACCIDENT CLAIMS LIVES — IZZI INDIGENE AMONG IDENTIFIED VICTIMS

A painful tragedy has struck families travelling along the Benin–Lagos Expressway after a G.U.O. luxury bus, reportedly loaded in Abakaliki and travelling to Lagos, was involved in a fatal accident close to Lagos State.

According to reports, several lives were lost, while other passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries. The immediate cause of the accident has not been established as of the time of this report.

Among those reportedly identified as victims is an Izzi indigene popularly known as “Good News,” a vibrant businessman whose untimely death has left family, friends and the community devastated.

According to a source, Good News was making preparations for his traditional wedding scheduled for January 11 and 13, 2027, before this heartbreaking tragedy cut his journey short.

To those whose relatives, friends or loved ones travelled from Abakaliki towards Lagos on Tuesday, please check on them and confirm their safety.

This is one of those moments when we are reminded of how fragile life can be. Plans can change. Journeys can end unexpectedly. And families can be left with memories instead of embraces.

May God comfort every family that has lost a loved one, grant the injured a speedy and complete recovery, and grant eternal rest to the souls of those who lost their lives. 🕯️💔

Please share this message. Someone may be desperately searching for a loved one.

I always thought fatal accidents involving buses this size were pretty rare, given how big and sturdy they are except, of course, when the bus ends up plunging into a body of water.

Looking at the bus, there doesn’t even seem to be any major structural damage from the impact, apart from the shattered windows. So how did so many people end up dying?

Sigh... Most Nigerians can't and should never be allowed to drive! PERIOD!!!

Whenever I say this, some of you will start the usual "whataboutism" of how accidents also claim lives in other nations.

But, look at the numbers... The figures don't lie!

Our roads are a death trap, not necessarily because they are bad, but because those that ply them are reckless with little to no knowledge of proper and safe vehicle handling and road use culture.

That bus above, for instance... You would be shocked at the high speed the driver was on even at unclear curves or bends.

Nigerian drivers are the main reason we constantly pray for "Journey mercies" even when our destination is within city limits.

I visited and lived abroad for over a year, and not once did I pray that prayer... It never even occurred to me to do so while there.

But as soon as I landed in Lagos, just the airport taxi back to my family, I suddenly started panicking and praying for safety... Even while on the Air Peace flight back to Abj days later.

It is this rare for me, I have not heard of a luxurious bus accident resulting to deaths in Nigeria for close to 10 years. This is the first time I am hearing this

Maybe, the impact flung some people out through the window. It doesn’t look like it summersaulted.

I am an insider working at GUO...

Leme give u people break down of how this accident went down

1. The headline is deceitful..the accident happened in lagos not Benin lagos highway...the OP posted this to.mk it look like it's the bad road

2. GUO company is not at fault but will be responsible for the lives and properties of his persongers...this because the company usually engage more than one driver on her route to lagos using the luxury buses...it's is usually, one senior driver, one new driver and a conductor..

3. It is a night bus travel accident

4. The driver should be blamed or even arrested cuz he narrated while on J5 road incoming inside lagos before berger..@ about 5am, he thought the vehicle ahead of him was moving not knowing the said truck is stationary untill u got dangerously close

It was supposed to b a head on but he ND his crew will all die if they collided, so he swerved his hands ND the stationary vehicle got the body of the luxury bus

5. More than 10 persons lost their lives including a new mom whose less than 6 months old twin children survived

6. The lady I help board the bus in Abakiliki is still in the hospital with a fractured neck

If you no speed same passengers will vow not to enter your bus again. And with bad roads in some states they will want to meet up the time. Rip to the dead

If it's not accident, it is kidnapping or robbery.

Either way, travelling on Nigerian roads is a huge gamble with your life

Chai so sorry may God rest their souls
Isn’t it possible to make speed limit rules for drivers especially the night driver and to do alcohol testing on them regularly

Read slowly or send to Google Translate in your local language.

Not my fault if your intellect can't comprehend something as basic as what I wrote.
