Nigeria And US Sign Mining Deal in New York -Dele Alake
On Wednesday at the Nigeria Mission House in New York, US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau and I signed an agreement to deepen American investment in Nigeria’s mining sector.

This is an important step in strengthening Nigeria-US cooperation around our mineral resources, valued at about $700 billion. The framework covers geological data and exploration, mineral development and processing, infrastructure, and technical capacity.

Nigeria cannot remain a source of raw materials while others capture most of the value. We want more local processing, quality jobs, stronger skills and greater opportunities for Nigerian businesses.

In the coming months, we will turn this framework into projects, investments and real results for our people. We will identify viable projects and build partnerships that create value for Nigerians and our US partners.

This is how we turn our mineral wealth into lasting economic growth and advance the diversification goals of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

This looks like a photo op, nothing more. The deal was worth $0 plus some garnished lies to appease some ignorant supporters.

Nigeria needs Peter Obi who has nothing to hide and will network with global leaders to tap into mutually beneficial opportunities for his country

We don’t need a President whose past and present is haunting him and limits his global participation where other nations are brokering billion dollar deals and partnerships

1. TotalEnergies and AMNI finalised an $800 million investment decision to develop the offshore Ima gas field to unlock gas for our LNG market. Do you know what that means?

2. Similarly, the owner of Bollores Group met our president in Paris to look towards investing in film, tourism, media, culture and fibre optics. See picture below.

3. To you, the agreement is worthless. To the Americans, their companies can enter Nigeria, explore, process and export minerals, and empliy our people.

The report did not mention Peter Obi. Since you have mentioned him, can you tell us the investments he attracted to Anambra? Can you tell us how he raised revenue due to these investments?
givedemwotowoto:
You went and signed a worthless agreement of understanding and you call it a mining deal? That’s what you achieved at UNGA?

Meanwhile, why is the President hiding and making his country miss real opportunities because of his past and present?

Let’s have a Peter Obi who has nothing to hide and will mingle with global leaders and tap into mutually beneficial opportunities for his country

Tinubu is desperately giving the country away just to get a reprieve from America who probably have dirt on him. First, a potential US military base and now mining rights. What's next? The US are in Congo mining minerals for free. What has it brought to the country?

I don't think this is the right time to be signing economic deals with the US.

People in charge of the US are very hawkish right now, and want to win while you lose, and add to the fact that they have the files of our president.

Even Canada a fellow white nation could not come to a good deal with them.

I wonder what dele alake signed.
I pray that these amateurs have not sold the future of this country to trump.

Dear Atiku,

The cunny man you hired to clean your image in the US, a certain Edwardo van Bastarrhdino, did everything to undermine this mining agreement.

He failed.

Same Bastarrhdino has not been able to get you into the US after 5 months to meet US congressmen after boasting he would.

The money you spent on this cunnyman could have been spent to build your party or empower business owners in Adamawa.

The US is currently drilling Venezuela oil, after arresting their president.

The US has no problem with cheap mining rights, even if the president of your country is the devil.

It's a win for them and the likes of Elon Musk.

The real question is,: what is Nigeria going to benefit here?
Who benefits more?

But yeah, keep hailing tinubu like a clown.

The Americans do a fair deal in business. Their oil companies have not been implicated in any scandal in Nigeria. Let the US mining companies explore our resources and do it legitimately. That is the essence of agreements like this.

Venezuela crude is heavy crude, which means it is expensive to extract. US companies were initially reluctant to go there due to the costs and political instability. Agreements were only signed this September.

What Nigeria stands to gain is American expertise, jobs for our people, taxes and royalties, and earnings from sale of minerals. America will also give security to their assets and ensure their interests are protected. On who benefits more, no country goes into an exploitative arrangement. A company invests to make profits.

US companies were reluctant to go in, because of polical instability, not cost.

Besides, I don't see the relevance of all these things you wrote, to what I said.

Right now, Venezuela's crude belongs to the US in all but name.
That's the point I am making.
Trump won with decisive victory in Venezuela.

Btw, are you aware that dele alake rejected the US govt investment in the mineral sector, not too long ago?

What has suddenly changed?
Are you saying the US govt suddenly bent over for dele alake grin?
Was the US govt not going to pay royalties in the first place, which dele alake rejected?

You are trying to dazzle someone that's more intelligent than you with a lot of bogus nonsense.

There's nothing wrong with US investment.
Unfortunately, I don't trust a compromised Nigerian president with files on the CIA and FBI desks to negotiate for the best interest of this country.

Then why did dele alake reject them before?
