Court Nullifies Pantami’s ticket, Orders PDP to conduct fresh gov’ship Primary In Gombe

The Federal High Court sitting in Gombe has ordered the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to conduct a fresh primary election for its governorship ticket in Gombe State.

The court, presided over by Justice Amina Aliyu Mohammed, gave the order in a suit filed by Usman Aliyu Garry to challenge the emergence of Prof. Isa Ali Pantami as the PDP governorship candidate.

Garry had challenged Pantami’s emergence after the party announced him as its sole candidate on June 26, 2026, arguing that the required primary election was not conducted.

Pantami, who was an aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), had defected to the PDP after the APC settled for Jamilu Gwamna as its consensus candidate.

Pantami subsequently secured the ticket through voice affirmation during the PDP governorship primary held in May.

But in its judgment delivered on Thursday, the court ordered the PDP to conduct a fresh primary election in accordance with the party’s guidelines and relevant electoral laws

Someone will just join political party and receive an automatic ticket. What money cannot do doesn't exist. Until money politics is destroyed in Nigeria, democracy may remain a scam.

Some people will still blame it on Tinubu and the APC. Patanmi was a member of the APC all throughout the 8 years of the Buhari regime. He participated in the APC gubernatorial primary and lost to Gwamna. The following week, he crossed to the PDP and picked up the ticket without being a member or participating in any primary. I wonder what took the court so long in sending him packing. He was statutorily disqualified. But PO and Obedients will always clutch to a drowning straw.

After the closing of the Nominations dates,by the INEC,It will be illegal for any Party to now want to Conduct A Late Election because:
•It will be Unfair business for Other Participants Since those Other Parties Never Asked PDP Not to put their house in Order.
•The Court should have included this Caveat in their Judgement,for your Failure On the Part of a Party -does not mean Other Failures On Other Parties - who had put their houses in Order -On Equity and Fairness basis 🥳!

Someone will lose primaries in one party and decamp to another party the following week and become the new party flag bearer without even participating in the new party primaries.
