In essence even a monthly salary of 500k will not suffice for an average worker to have a saving? Big amount worthless value.

The bottom line of all this be say naira na useless currency
wellmax:
The problem is not whether government can afford it. The bigger problem is how many states and especially private firm can afford it.

If only FG can pay, what do you anticipate will happen to getting FG jobs.

Make Una dey think

Inflation to will be high.

If private school teachers earn N400k, suggest a sustainable school fee?

Tell politicians to stop wasting money on 39 SUVs. Nigerians also deserve a good life, to enjoy the endless gifts nature gave them. Not only politicians should be enjoying. Any country where most of the wealthy are politicians or political exposed person while 90 percent of her non politically exposed masses are struggling is a disfunctional society.

For starters, why can't the Labour unions and Population Commission come to an agreement on the maximum number of kids a family should have?

It makes no sense to have up to four kids in a country as lopsided as Naigeria?

Why make your case for minimum wages centred around a family of four kids?

Take a cue from Japan and China, which put a ceiling on the number of kids per family.

Return the fuel subsidy and other subsidies period!
Then appreciate the local currency
Since they are reluctant to do what their predecessors did the minimum wage gave it from N21 to now N70,000 over decades past.

Imagine if they insisted to hold it at N21 !!!.
Are we animals? We cannot continue to do the wrong things and normalize it.

I believe the calculation is fair.

How we are going to get their universally is another matter.
Do you think everything will remain the same? Price of commodities will follow suit, then we'll start all over again! This is because the increment is not coming from an increase in productivity. The government will print more money to pay, leading to devaluation of the Naira.
Any increment should come from productivity not printing of more Naira

You are asking if we be animals?

What about the person responsible for this current problem everyone are facing and complaining about on this very thread? The person responsible for taking fuel from around N168 to now N1500! What will you call that person? And expecting the then prices of all others to remain in a steady state of flux?

Do you know that that singular action caused the chain reaction culminating in what people are hyper ventilating and gasping for air over the hardship on this thread?

What kind of useless statistics did i just read in the guardian? They go to Lagos pad statistics and dish it out as the correct representation of the entire country.Forexample, here in Benin city you can get a room and parlour self contained apartment for ₦300,000 per year in over 90% locations of the city.₦200,000 and ₦250,000 per year is not uncommon in some locations in the city.

People should understand that minimum wage doesn't make anybody very comfortable in any part of the world. The highest minimum wage in Nigeria was in Shagari govt which was around $170 per month. The actual minimum wage should be ₦150,000 and a newly employed graduate should earn ₦250,000 -₦350,000.If the govt can bring the FX down to ₦950-₦1000,the price of PMS can't be more than ₦1000 per litre with the current crude oil price.

If we get to the stage our minimum wage can afford 150 litres of PMS we would honestly be on the right track economically as a nation.I remember we usually have a minimum wage that could afford around 170 litres of PMS,if we can do 150 litres without subsidy that's a good win for the economy.

The elders will say if going front is stuck then go back

We dont need salary increase approach, cos we know its only going to worsen inflation and devalue the naira more. Besides it compounds govt expenditure widen the budget deficit gap

I think Atiku is the only One that has given the right solution if front is stuck lets go back .. but this time there is a game changer

Crude subsidy to local refineries is Our best solution to bring down Cost & standard of living instead of trying to catch up with high cost of living find settings to bring it down to your level.
Salary increase wont solve it
