Thugs Mob Henry Onyekuru In His Cybertruck In Lagos, Demand For ₦5m (video) by dominique(mod): 10:48am On Sep 25
Chaos erupted at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena (Onikan Stadium) in Lagos after the match between Inter Lagos and Kano Pillars, when some local street thugs (“area boys”) allegedly blocked Nigerian footballer and former Galatasaray player Henry Onyekuru from leaving.

As he was leaving, they reportedly stopped him from getting into his Cybertruck and demanded $4,000 — about ₦5 million — before allowing him to go.

Seriously, how do you tell someone how much they must give you from their own hard-earned money? One of them even reportedly nearly fought him.

Eventually, Onyekuru had to leave on foot.

After this kind of entitlement mentality, do you really expect him to come back to that stadium?

This is beyond embarrassing. Nobody should be harassed or prevented from leaving a venue because others feel entitled to their money.

Hey, well the man felt compelled to pose with his rich man's car in a country where the streets are swarming with hungry people that become enraged when they see signs of great wealth passing in their midst.

The poseur drew attention to the fact that his car is worth more than the lifetime earnings of the entire mob that besieged his car, so he should consider himself lucky that he was not simply kidnapped for ransom and subjected to a series of corrective floggings while in custody.

The entitlement mentality Nigeria is built upon is growing daily. Useless animals. In Nigeria, praise and hailing is a form of favour that must be rewarded with money especially when the person is proven or widely believed to be rich.
I rather employ a truck load of soldiers to protect that truck from regular N5m extortion than give entitled demons money.

To avoid being targeted by "praise singers", one need only drive a poor man's car when going to places where those aggressive beggars lurk in numbers.

I hate beggars as much as anyone else, but because I drive a crappy old car when in Nigeria, I am ignored by the hungry masses wherever I go.

You have made a good point, HOWEVER, your Ferrari or Bentley will NEVER be swarmed by hungry people demanding money in ANY part of the USA, EU, or Canada.

The risk of robbery or car-jacking is real in many an American rough neighborhood, but this uniquely Nigerian phenomenon of swarming aggressive beggar hordes who block streets is NEVER seen ANYWEHRE in America.

Nonsense talk. just because he's driving an expensive car doesn't mean that some unscrupulous entities should stop him or demand money from him. he doesn't owe anyone anything and he shouldn't give anyone anything.

Guys, not their fault. See, the govt was supposed to provide these people with proper education that can make them useful to the society. That is why the humans gave up their resources for govt to manage in return, govt promised to use their resources to provide them with quality education, security, etc. But in our case, govt hijacked our god given resources just to ball, and buy SUVs worth 15billion

A wise man in Nigeria today should not display stupendous wealth. Be modest, as the country is not safe. Poverty and crime are pervasive. Most people have an entitlement mentality, envy and jealousy.

It is not a Nigerian problem, it is a Lagos problem. That is how the humans of Lagos behave, almost always, very uncouth.
