Comelysync:There is nothing u can do aside good governance. Every action has effects. Nigeria's population is growing with no control and the politicians love using them to rig elections, so once they are done, they leave them for u and I to suffer for their actions. Nothing can be done aside proper governance. if u like lock them all up, with the rate of birth in Nigeria, more of their kinds will rise. |

Princedapace:they can be secured but are their families secured? Will they have police going around with their wives, sons and daughters, NPF does not have such man power. Something has to be done about thugs on lagos streets or else Politicians won't be able to drive their automobiles on lagos road again. |

Princedapace:Very true at least the osun people ensured their votes counted in the past July governorship election why can't the rest of nigerian populace do the same if all the voters gather in the collation centers and stay till thei6votes are counted, guides it in all the other states of nigeria we will have a free and fair election! Even when the unscrupulous politicians share their inducements (cash, food etc)the electiratres can still collect them and still make sure they vote for the candidates of their choice which will work for the greater good of the country it happened in osun also. |

Goosethetruth:Not going to happen Mr I use to think so before or even if it will maybe in the next millennium!!nigerians are too divided by tribal and religious lines to make it happen take for example the case of oil rich niger delta especially deltas state NDDC where their officials loots the funds the federal government disburse to them to create infastructures and amenities to ameliorate the suffering of the Niger delta populace When the icpc and efcc officials moved to arrest this corrupt NDDC officials it was still the poor delta and rivers state citizens whose futures where robbed blind that still armed theirselves with planks and other weapons to attack the efcc officials to side with their oppressors!! France didn't have much diverse tribe or religions as at the time of her revolution and I don't think they had a middle class it was just bourgeoisie and the proletariat in the case of nigeria even if the mob wanting to do the revolution are Igbos and the politician is hausa or ijaw their will be disunity because the other mobs from the same politician ethnic group will see it as victimization during buhari's tenure I saw how many Igbo and yorubas lamented how buhari were only targeting their ethnic men for prosecutions for corruption and embezzlement The worst are the religious leaders even as their sheeples sees the god of men robbing and scamming them blind they will still support and attack those who wants to deliver them from their religious leaders I am a rccg member though not frequently anymore I was surprised a driver who plies Ijero to ilesa osogbo axis told me during one of my journey to efon in ekiti state that twice he gave a lift to pastor adeboye's cattle rancher in erio because he couldn't afford the transport fare of N2500 from erio to oke imesi where his family members reside why?because adeboye pays him 50k as salary a man with 3 kids o in this tinubuconomy and this man(adeboye) has almost 2000 cattles in erio ekiti alone although he may not be the only employee there but still I heard he enoch Adeboye also has other ranches in some south western erin ijesa for a man who owns a private jet, several luxurious cars, houses etc yet can't pay his employees close to 250,000 a month yet will lambast the government for not paying 150k as a minimum wage for their employees close to thousands this is not to excuse government incompetencies sha. The driver is even a christian also yet he saw the evil way christianity is being practiced in Nigeria and castigated it because it differs from the early christians principles in the bible and even how it is being done in Europe and america the driver didn't castigate the religion entirely only the adherents in Nigeria To cut the story short if people protest against adeboye and other god of men it is still his poor congregations like that his cattle ranchers that will attack the protesters even the other religion isn't left out both are such a menace and hindrance to nigerian masses and her economic development! |

ultraviolet27:COWARDICE is the cause of Nigerians inability to fight back. Remember that FELA song "i no wan die, i no wan kpeme mama dey for house etc" NIGERIANS prefer to suffer. The sad part of this situation is that once most Nigerians travel to the western world they thrive in that organized society and you cannot treat them unjustly and they would keep quiet. Nigerians even fight the cause of their other Africans brother when they are in diaspora. I wonder why we cannot see the light at home and understand that to build the society of our dreams we need to fight this set of politicans that have held us in bondage for over 35 years, i saw a post about politician's children running for political office in 2027. NA FAMILY AFFAIR. PLEASE NIGERIANS WAKE UP AND FIGHT FOR YOUR FREEDOM!!! |

Jakumo:This is one of the BIG REASONS why I can't live in Nigeria again. The poverty is overwhelming and a high standard of living provokes jealousy, hatred, theft and aggression. Unless you're at a level where you have a squad of skilled & high powered security OR you restrict yourself to exclusive areas, it's simply not worth the trouble. Then there's the emotional torment. Only sadists can enjoy living well in Nigeria among all the poverty stricken people. Tufiakwa. Good Luck to Nigerians. |

IbeOkehie:That disparity between the very rich and the very poor is most evident in the cities of Nigeria. Lagos frightens me. On the rare occasions that I go there, my head is on a swivel as I glance left and right in fear of sudden attack by any of the desperate hungry people I see sizing me up the instant I get there. It is exhausting, just having to be in such a state of heightened vigilance. I feel like a hunted animal whenever I find myself in Lagos, even though I don't look wealthy, and do not travel in any expensive vehicles. |

Jakumo:Nowhere is safe, rural or urban. Even family can't be trusted, in fact relatives are the worst because they feel ENTITLED to your wealth or property. Where a crime is committed, accountability is often lacking due to the poorly motivated and funded police and judiciary. There's no point. This thing of going back to ones poor origins or neighborhood is more dangerous than people realize. It's not just in Nigeria, it's a thing in Black America too, there's beaucoup stories of mid level celebrities and even ordinary people being killed when they visit their old neighborhoods due to jealousy and envy, just a simple internet search will confirm it. So many UK citizen returnees/retirees to Jamaica were being killed that the UK government had to make a strong protest to the Jamaican government. Good Luck to Nigerians. |

IbeOkehie:There is so much truth in these words you have written. Any person whose appearance gives even the slightest hint of having escaped poverty would be wise to avoid neighborhoods, and indeed entire countries, where poverty is widespread, lest one fall victim to predators crazed with hunger, jealousy or just simmering, volatile rage over their lot in life. The current epidemic of kidnapping in Nigeria is arguably the most terrifying manifestation of poverty's homicidal contempt for perceived wealth. The number of kidnap victims in Nigeria who wind up tortured to death, often while being filmed, AFTER ransoms have been paid, stands in stark and sobering testimony to this undeclared demographic war that ravages Nigeria and other comparable Third World backwaters. |

Jakumo:See, I didn't even think of the kidnapping epidemic. Hmmmm, na wa o. Thanks for that. I've often mentioned this prophetic 1994 article in my earlier times on Nairaland - https://cdn.theatlantic.com/media/archives/1994/02/273-2/132677298.pdf Then he referred to the recent coup in the West African country of Sierra Leone. “The boys who took power in Sierra Leone come from houses like this.” The Minister jabbed his finger at a corrugated metal shack teeming with children. Some saw this coming a looooong time ago. It's an amazing read. Good Luck to Nigerians. |

IbeOkehie:Genocidal anarchy sometimes erupts overnight, but more often, it flares up with increasing frequency wherever the drifting embers of irate public disaffection fall, as the vengeful poor begin to stalk and devour not only the rich, but also the marginally less impoverished. |
