Duly noted bro. I installed the system in May, When I mean I'm rarely at home, my house is in Ibadan and I work in Lagos. I go home only once a month. In terms of age, accumulatively my battery hasn't seen even a full week usage at a stretch since I installed it. When I'm in Ibadan I hardly stay there grin. Maybe I should just sell off the 2.5kwh battery and get an 8kwh battery bank; I don't think I need a 48v set-up right now. My load is 200w max during the night, my refrigerator inclusive.
then why looking to expand your battery bank in the first place ?

Atimes we need full story to better have an understanding

Are you adding a fresh load apart from the current 200w load?

Whats the shortcoming of the old system?

I have a few questions

1. Do you charge with solar?
2. Are you looking to add more loads?
3. Have you ever drained the battery? Of No what’s the highest DOD you have ever done?
4. Do you plan to move permanently to Ibadan anytime soon?

Sometimes we give ourselves stress that isn’t even necessary…many people are on 2.5kwh battery and they even use it everyday…I don’t see any point increasing the capacity unless the above question 2,3 and 4 are “Yes

Thanks for the reply my people. God bless you.

1) Yes I charge with Solar, I have 4pcs, 620w panels presently.
2) Yes, my area doesn't have light at all and I'm looking to use an induction cooker more often on the system.
3) Nah, cause I've not really been around since I installed it.
4) Yes, I just moved to Ibadan now, I have a project that'll last for over a year, so I fear the battery may become stressed after reading through all the warnings on this thread.

Now we getting somewhere. Helps to drop as much information as possible as it goes a long way in helping us make suggestions.

Are you home more during the day or night ?

If you around more during the day, your current battery bank would do fine. If mostly at Night, and what you cook most time is just warming food or light foods, your current battery bank still should work.

Tell us if na BEANs (especailly those tiny ones) you dey cook Ooo

Your freezer should go off after 5pm till next day.

You no come tell us size of your inverter. Your solar panels are well good enough BUT they're useLess while the SUN is off duty.

With Batteries, I tend to not want to go overboard because it's one thing that you can't escape replacing sooner or later.

meanWhile, your 24v 2.5kwh battery bank is equivalent to 2pcs of 12v 100AH leadAcid batteries in series except that in Lithium, you're free to use beyond 50% total capacity even though it's best to still not go beyond 80% if you want longLife & Prosperity of ya batteries.

from these answers you can go ahead and increase the battery bank on the condition that you won’t always be around during the day and all your loads will work at night especially induction cooker for cooking…

My advice,,sell off your 2.5kwh battery and buy the 8kwh battery you initially wanted to…I don’t buy the idea of mixing different ages of battery especially when one is 6months above older…I believe your inverter is at least 3.5kva…

Have a great day

chief what can cause this? The inverter and battery is earthed. Inverter is a 4.2kva Haisic 24v

Battery has a metal case, the case isn’t shocking only the terminal.

The case may be shocking. ...paint is a sort of insulator.

This leakage is coming from your inverter.

Fix inverter and issue disappears.
