President Tinubu May Be Avoiding The Independence Anniversary by Dotherightthing(op): 8:25pm On Sep 27
I strongly believe the president may be staying away from the country to avoid attending Nigeria's 66th independence anniversary event.

If you observe, since the planned coup was foiled, the president has avoided attending any event where there will be a military parade and he will have to perform some functions publicly.

It may be very RISKY for him.

He cannot be in Nigeria and he won't attend a huge event such as the independence parade.

The president is okay.

It's not even the independent day celebration, it may be connected with health. I think he may not stand for a long time. At the signing of the Ogun State deal in France, he was seated while giving his speech.
If it is just independent, they will simply beef up security.

Are you guys seriously talking about Tinumbu, the druggie president of the most populous African black nation? The man who singlehandedly ran the whole of Chicago, and turned same to Dubai?
Attach some narcotic respect to his name. He's earned it.

All I know is that dru9 man is an international embarrassment to Nigeria and Nigerians.

He should stay wherever he is & don't come back. He's not missed.

President Tinubu will be in Nigeria before Oct 1st even if there won't be independent day celebration.

Now I believe more than ever that the so-called coup is a planted and fictitious story to justify his cowardice and fear of his own troops whom he commands. The so-called coup attempt was last year but Tinubu has never attended a passing out parade of the NDA since he was sworn in. No previous president have ever failed to attend a passing out parade of the NDA. It is highly significant because cadets swear allegiance to the Commander-in-Chief at their passing out parade.

In 2023, 70 RC, He sent Shettima
In 2024, 71 RC, He sent Speaker Abbas
In 2025, 72 RC, He sent Akpabio
In 2026, 73 RC, He sent Speaker Abbas

A president who is afraid of a coup won't be out of the country for 3 days not to talk of over 3 weeks

All through our last week, both president Tinubu and Shettima are not even in the country

Assuming you’re correct; it’s not compulsory he attends but I’ll admit it’s sort of necessary that’s he’s within the country.

Personally, I’ll suggest he delegates such ceremonial roles Nigerias collective stability is more important that any annual celebration whatsoever and right at the heart of that stability is PBAT.

There is already a lot of speculation around the President’s absence, but beyond where he chooses to spend the anniversary, Nigerians should be paying attention to the quality of leadership and representation we get at every level.

2027 should be about competence, accountability and people who will genuinely speak for their constituents. In Yagba West Constituency 2, I believe Apst. Prof. Amb. Bandele Oluwafemi Ayodele of ADP deserves serious consideration. Let’s judge candidates by what they can offer the people, not just by party slogans.
