We have begged for this government to give necessary attention to Onne port calabar,so that businesses in Aba,Onitsha,Nnewi,south south and some parts of the north will save additional cost,as a result of using Lagos ports and its associated corruption,double taxation and entitlement mentality of the street boys of Lagos that depends on extorting these business moguls when they clear their goods from the port.

Lagos inherited a major head start from colonialism. Apapa is Nigeria's oldest major port and is located beside the country's largest commercial centre. It has long-established road, rail, warehousing, shipping and financial infrastructure.
Cargo naturally followed the biggest market. Lagos became the country's principal commercial gateway, creating a self-reinforcing cycle: more cargo, more shipping lines and terminals, more private investment, better infrastructure, again still more cargo. Onne port developed mainly around the oil-and-gas industry and became an Oil & Gas Free Zone. It is therefore significant, but its cargo profile is different from Lagos's huge consumer-import market. Lagos population attracts. Dredging and navigational limitations have affected Calabar and other eastern ports, and poor inland connections and inadequate infrastructure.

The Southeast has no coastline. This is basic primary 4 knowledge. States such as Anambra, Enugu, Imo and Abia depend on ports outside the region. This makes efficient road/rail connections to ports particularly important, but they don't seem to care about planning or building one.

You should review the subsidy part as for at least 2 decades before government had wanted to remove it but the fear of cost and effect politically and economically. This was further complicated by petroleum industry laws that enabled it. The PIA was eventually passed under Buhari but he didn't effect it fully regarding PMS.

Getting the 'privatised NNPC refinery' to work was thought to bring some relief however the old units and inadequate capacity for present day needs led to insufficient returns thus far. Jonathan quickly buckled however right or wrong though Sanusi, Okonjo Iweala were explaining the rationale as we couldn't really afford it. The absence of a backing law with NLC and national resistance ended that.

Previous agreements to share proceeds or savings has had whatever shavings now shared through the 3 tiers of government. The numerous demanding things that daily increase is making the savings less immediately easing living however macroeconomics is growing. Truth be told is the waste of at least 55 years cannot be undone in so short a time. Do you have an example of any nation that has changed it's dynamics from so bad to good very fast?

.Funny 🤣. The 2027 election is the least thing on President Tinubu’s mind. It is only Peter Obi and Atiku who have been jumping up and down, trying to draw attention to themselves. President Tinubu is busy working on his Renewed Hope Agenda to turn around the fortunes of Nigeria and take the country to greater heights.

It is the overwhelming demand from well-meaning Nigerians from various walks of life, including my humble self, that is putting pressure on President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to turn himself in and run for a second term.

As it is, democracy is a game of numbers. Those of us who want Asiwaju to serve a second term are in the majority. The few people wailing here and there are in the minority. We do not have to shut them down; rather, we are going to convince them to come over to our side through the good work of Mr. President, and he has been successful in doing that.

It’s really a shame that the FG has been playing politics with modernization and upgrade of Onne port especially after Tinubu Government booted out Intels on the management of the Port.

It’s crazy that Onne port has become a sh!thole place after Intels left that place to rot.

Grasses are growing untrimmed, all the Port lightings are dead, trucks parking all over the internal roads ( dem no born those rascal drivers to do this during intels management because the fine you gonna pay might get you a brand new tire for your truck), dilapidated roads and so forth.

There's absolutely nothing to rejoice about this news i have read about this same approvals several times at the end of the day nothing still happens on ground I think this is just news for the campaign season to get votes from those states where the ports are located until we see physical activities in those ports no reasonable person should take this news too serious.

When OBI was the Anambra State Governor and also Honorary Special Adviser to Goodluck Jonathan on Economy and Anyim Pius Anyim was the Secretary to Federal Government during the period Crude oil was sold above $120 per barrel, was there any Deep Seaport Project initiated by Peter OBI and Jonathan in the South East? Remember, Lekki Deep Seaport is a Private sector initiative. ATIKU was one of the Major Promoters of Badagry Deep Seaport Project before he channelled his energy elsewhere.

Federal Government approved Bakassi Deep Seaport Project for Cross River State several months ago.

Investment: Estimated at approximately $2.27 billion in private capital investment, with an additional $3.5 billion secured through a partnership with the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank).

Partnership Structure: Developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework, featuring a shareholders' agreement where UAE-based port developer Arise IPP holds an 80% stake and the Cross River State Government retains.

This is the kind of partnership that Ogun State Governor entered with investors to develop the Seaport for the State.
