Yoruba Elders Warn Seyi Makinde - Don't Sabotage Peter Obi, 80% of Yorubas Are With Obi

In a strong statement that is shaking Ibadan and Lagos, prominent Yoruba Elders Forum has warned Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State not to sabotage the presidential ambition of Mr. Peter Obi.

The elders said they have watched the political moves in the South-West with concern, especially the role Governor Makinde is playing in the opposition pathway.

According to the Elders, "80% out of 100% Yorubas on the street are with Peter Obi because of his competence, not tribe. Any Yoruba leader who tries to sabotage Obi for personal 2027 ambition will face consequences from Yoruba people themselves."

The Elders reminded Governor Makinde of his long-standing relationship with Peter Obi:

1. Peter Obi was one of the first leaders who supported Makinde in 2019 when many PDP leaders abandoned him. Obi campaigned for him in Oyo.
2. Both men are known as two of the most performing Governors in Nigeria - Makinde in Oyo, Obi in Anambra. They share same ideology of prudent governance, not extravagance.
3. Makinde is the only PDP Governor in South-West, Obi is the face of opposition. If Makinde sabotages Obi to please Tinubu or to push his own Presidential ambition, Yorubas will see it as betrayal of the South-West interest.

The Elders said: "Makinde should remember, he won in Oyo because Yoruba youths, not because of Abuja. Those same youths shouting Seyi today are shouting Obi tomorrow. Don't kill the voice of the youth because of politics."

They concluded that Peter Obi is not an Igbo project, he is a Nigerian project, and majority of Yoruba people, especially professionals, youths, and elders who want real change, are with him.

"Democracy is not about sabotage, it is about capacity. If you sabotage a capable man, history will judge you," the statement read.

Was there any other Yoruba candidate that challenged him in 2023? He now has Seyi Makinde to contend with. He never supported Obasanjo all through his 8 year tenure. It will foolhardy to assume that the entire Southwest will support Tinubu despite his woeful performance simply because he is Yoruba. Tinubu will not win the Southwest in a landslide no matter how you lot try to sell the false perception that he will.

Osun is definitely not going to Tinubu..
Oyo is out of the question.
Lagos...we know flogged him there in 2023 when life was even better.
Lagos people who are now too poor to afford ordinary tomatoes and have resorted to eating maggot-infested Tomatoes and Onions in Ketu will deal Tinubu a heavy blow..
APC does not do well in high brow areas in Lagos like Lekki and VI. Even Tinubu lost in his polling unit in Bourdillon.
I don't see that changing.


Of course they are currently brainstorming on the best way to rig the elections, as the facts of their certain failure stare them in the face.
