If you're doing band locking to get the good stuff, they have not fully upgraded in your area. But that's better than what most people get.

Definitely, and experience as they say is the best teacher.

I lock the router to one band, run a speed test, then switch to the next available band and repeat the process. After testing all the bands, I stick with the two or three that give me the highest speeds.

But MTN is blocking a lot of sites and streaming sites too. Especially porn and some iptvs.

Did you eventually swap your MTN ODU and test with the Huawei 5G CPE H153-381 router?

Got the router yesterday. Another guy is bringing same router to me today. Be like na village people use router accumulation do me like this lol

Anyway, let me know if you have done it and if it works.

I checked out the unlock process of the router, it currently can only be unlocked via an unlock code, obtainable for about 35 dollars, which is quite expensive.

If unlocked, I doubt if it will handle beyond normal sim from other networks. Broadband Sims from other networks may not work. 35 bucks is a lot to spend for experiments

Yea, its secret is that it's WiFi 6. It's energy efficient. The battery is just 3000mAh.

The performance can be disappointing at times. It's a CAT 4 router after all. I do lock a stable band/cell on it at times but being that I move around with it a lot, I have equally left everything unlocked.

Perhaps I should someday replace it with Wahab's X30.

Use 5Ghz hotspot (if your mifi has it) and run the speedtest again.

I see lots of people here full of praise for MTN ODU what you don't get is with time it'll degrade due to congestion from high number of subscriptions that's the same fate facing airtel now and the good thing is airtel is on a massive upgrade to tackle the congestion issue but mtn are they upgrading their masts rapidly as airtel, No that's why the odu is sold limitedly to manage congestion and speeds as for me I stick with airtel! and I even got the Huawei CPE MAX 6 which is a major upgrade over the zlt x17m which has served me well and gracefully for the last one year plus..

No, I haven't had the time to visit MTN office for the SIM swap yet. Hopefully soon. Looks like I will be getting a 5G mifi.

I would like to know if this OLAX router has imei change feature. If not, I would like to know why it was able to work with MTNN when other routers require imei tweak.

I go like get that Huawei ODU oh, but Airtel no dey do like MTN. MTN is selling the ODU even without registration and without installing. If Airtel does that, I will just acquire that Huawei router for keeps.

Get that X30 from Wahab. It is the one sure to work.

But maybe MTN has mellowed down. Someone is using OLAX with the ODU. Which means X32U with 9000mAh battery might be working with it.

Specifically, though, I would like to know if the H153-381 is working with the ODU. I just got two of it yesterday and today via Facebook.

The thing has very good adapter with very poor power bank (2500mAh)
