In 1998, Nigeria's best horror movie ''Karishika'' was released starring Becky Ngozi Okorie as the lead character. She played the role so well but was never seen in any other movie since then. - And please think about the poorest among us. What happens when floodwater rises 4, 5 or 6 feet around a family living in a thatched house with a pit toilet?

- Imagine a mother with a newborn trapped in that situation. The pit toilet is flooded, the home is surrounded by contaminated water, and she has nowhere safe to take her baby. What does she do?

- Nigerians, we need to stop being disconnected from global events. What happens elsewhere can eventually affect us.

- We are a prayerful people. We pray for marriage, prosperity and more children. Let us also pray seriously about the climate.

- Instead of only asking God to give us more children, let us ask God to have mercy on the Earth, restore its balance, and make it habitable and safe for our children and future generations.

- I am not saying we should stop having children. I am saying we must think about the world we are bringing them into. Would you knowingly bring innocent babies into a life-threatening situation?

- This is only the beginning of what climate disruption could bring if we do not take it seriously.

- Wake up. Learn. Prepare. Pray. Act.

I am saying this because Nigerians are my people. I want our children to inherit a world in which they can actually live, thrive and be safe.

Not only her, even Rita Nzelu who was also one of the actress in Living in Bondage also left Naija for her abroad husband when she was highly sorted after.

I believe that's one of the best decision some of them made after all these Kill and Bury going on in Nollywood today.

But we need to stop disrupting the earth like land reclamation, felling trees, building on water ways etc. These and more contribute to climate change and flood. We need to continually clean the drainages and cutters. Prayers alone cannot do the work. We need to do the work ourselves. God made all things beautiful but man is gradually destroying the earth thereby endangering lives.
