mctfopt:like take the inverter to service center? Cos it inverter is working properly with no issues, the inverter itself doesn’t even shock only the battery terminals |

jFrankNorfleet:Congratulations. Is this a 24v or 48v setup? |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by jFrankNorfleet: 9:23am On Oct 03 |
Glocal1:48v sir |

fuckboys:Even without you mentioning the inverter, I already knew na transformerless inverter. tlDr: issue probably from your inverter. You said earthing is done. I for say the earthing no work well, but since battery casing and inverter casing no dey shock, means the earthing dey at least work. E still fit be the issue o, but na technician wey get direct access to the setup fit talk for sure. To try debug this yourSelf to narrow down issue, and be 300% sure it's the inverter, you need to work in stages: • Stage 1 (NEPA): First disConnect NEPA from the inverter (if e dey connected, else skip this). Normally from the point labelled AC IN. Wait small, then test if e still dey shock or if tester still dey light up. If the shock still dey, leave NEPA disconnected and move to Stage 2. • Stage 2 (Solar): Disconnect the solar panels. No just OFF the breaker Ooo—comot the wires from the breaker completely. Wait small again, then test if the shock or tester light still dey. • Stage 3 (AC Output): Make sure you completely disConnect the AC Output of the inverter. That point where power dey comot from inverter go house (usually labeled AC OUT). • Stage 4 (Battery): If e still dey shock after all this, this one fit sound stewpid but disconnect the batteries completely. Then test those battery terminals coming from the inverter. If tester still light up, then we are 300% sure say na the inverter dey misbehave. Frankly, 9 times out of 10, na inverter be issue. But I suggest all these steps make you no go waste money and time dey treat wrong symptom. PS: you failed to inform us if said issue started recently or been there right from when it was installed |

bassdow:I don't think it has been like that since onset, I routinely tighten all terminals and clean dust. So I decided to do it on that Faithfull day and it got a shock, so I took out my tester and saw that. |

fuckboys:Earth any terminal of the battery or inverter separately. Get a single copper wire, attach it to a rod and dig this into a wet soil. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by fuckboys: 7:38am On Oct 04 |
dollarnaira:I just did further troubleshooting and found out that when I put the change over to neutral the terminals stop shocking even with the inverter still on. Is it coming from the house or something? |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Valentinooo: 8:19am On Oct 04 |
fuckboys:Try run a separate earthing for your inverter. I have seen a situation where the earth of a house is returning current to the inverter. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Kingadex60(m): 9:38am On Oct 04 |
dollarnaira:pls I want to learn, if no wet soil, having like a dry land. Do one need to wet daily for the earthing to function properly |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 9:44am On Oct 04 |
Kingadex60:don't have to be wet daily. The land is hardly ever completely dry especially down to about 4ft even if the top soil is very dry. E get reason trees survive even during dry season. If you dig ground, you go see say inside inside still wet to some extent. Though positioning the earth rod around location wey dey receive some amount of moisture even if it's once a week or month not bad. |

dollarnaira:I don play this your trick before but got the shock I deserved because inverter carry light give earth and innocent me go use hand touch the cable BUT Going by his latest response, seems the inverter has no short; probably the normal transformerLess wahala. BUT other than using Tester , me for say make e first use multiMeter check voltage make e no ge be say na full voltage or something beyond 100v. When customers refer to shock, some go even call static tingle as shock and you go mistake am for something serious. That Tester fit dey read high Voltage with little or no current and that could come from even solar panels. Hope say una dey see why Me personally respect mySelf dey use Transformer based inverter. e get another nairalander wey be say almost all the bulbs and chargers for him house don blow finish until we found out say one of the batteries was bad. |

| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by fuckboys: 11:55am On Oct 04 |
dollarnaira:I earthed the inverter terminals to the earth of the inverter and it stopped. No current again to the battery terminals. |

bassdow:I ran a wire from the negative battery terminal of the inverter to the earth terminal of the inverter. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by brightk(m): 7:39pm On Oct 04 |
fuckboys:I don't think this is gud idea... U don't ground supply terminals |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Valentinooo: 8:02pm On Oct 04 |
fuckboys:Look for other part of the body of the battery to connect the earth. Don't use the terminals direct. You can lose one of the bolts used for screwing that back cover, wind the wire round it and screw it back tightly, The reason that body is not shocking is that white paint. You can peel a small portion of the paint and test with your tester, it will light. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by fuckboys: 8:13pm On Oct 04 |
Valentinooo:only the battery terminals are shocking not the battery casing. |

Please anyone with idea how much local mounting rail (Nigeria) is sold and where I can get it from? |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 4:46pm On Oct 05 |
hoodboy:why not check markets / shops around you Or ask any shop that sells Solar items around you. meanWhile, you ought to tell us your location so those in Damaturu wouldn't bother themselves unnecessarily |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by hoodboy(m): 5:42pm On Oct 05 |
bassdow:Well I’ll like a general idea regardless of location. However, location is Owerri. I can also still get from lagos and send down at the very worst case. I want to know the options that are available and get a general idea of price range |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Eaglepixel: 8:39pm On Oct 05 |
fuckboys:What you did is called Neutral to earth bonding, You’re correct just that it should have been done on a changeover and you still need to deactivate the settings on the inverter change it to off. Lose the bottom cover and locate N-E lose it, because you will likely see it with a small metal connected. Just search for the inverter manual settings on how to deactivate Neutral to earth bonding. This is also done in A.C transformer reason why N-E reading is below 5v. The issue is called Neutral floating. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by fuckboys: 9:46pm On Oct 05 |
Eaglepixel:I can't find such settings on the inverter manual |
