10 Soldiers Feared Killed, Two Captured As Terrorists Attack Military Base In Maru, Zamfara


At least 10 soldiers were reportedly killed and two others captured alive when terrorists attacked a military position in Bindin, Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Monday.

Sources said the attack occurred yesterday when heavily armed bandits, in large numbers on motorcycles, stormed the troops' location and opened fire.

The soldiers were said to have engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle that lasted for hours, but were overpowered due to the superior number of the attackers.

Ten soldiers were killed in the encounter, while two others were taken away alive by the terrorists. Weapons and other military equipment were also reportedly carted away according to report.

Maru LGA has remained one of the hotspots of banditry in Zamfara, with repeated attacks on communities and security formations despite ongoing operations by Operation Fansan Yamma.

The Nigerian Army and Zamfara State Police Command are yet to officially confirm the incident as of press time.

Every platoon of the Nigerian army must have at least TEN highly trained drone operators, so that there will always be someone who can conduct aerial reconnaissance even in the event that casualties are sustained. The power needed to charge drone batteries and the controller batteries can be derived in remote outposts with SOLAR panels.\
