You sure your battery cable isn't touching the inverter wall?

Maybe it's not tidy enough?

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by staticstring: 10:27am On Oct 06
Good morning, Chiefs,

My Off-Grid Solar Experience.

My setup in 2024: Felicity IVPM7548, 172Ah 48V(From Valto), six pieces of Jinko 580W connected in 3s2p, 120a Felicity charge controller (Bought Fairly used), 2000W 48V Xinboke Sachet inverter.

With the help of breakers and changeovers, I had two systems sharing the same battery. I could charge with either the standalone Cc or the Inverter. However, I decided to permanently charge the battery with the standalone 120a Felicity CC. I use the Felicity IVPM 7548 during the day, and the Xinboke runs the show at night.

My night load when on the Xinboke is around 65 watts. I do not run the Felicity inverter overnight because it self consunming power alone is around 208 watts.

From that moment, I stopped refilling my gas cylinders as I began using my electric cooker (2000w). I had nothing to do with NEPA or Gen.

After three months, during a very sunny afternoon, I came home to a faulty Charge controller. My mum, who was at home, told me she heard a few pop sounds from the charge controller. I concluded that since I didn't buy it brand new, it could have been worked on or weak, so I removed it from the setup since my Felicity IVPM also has a 120amps inbuilt charge controler

So from that day, I began charging my battery with the Felicity Inverter, and it worked fine till 01/10/2026. It was a very sunny day too, and I was at home. In fact, it was my birthday, so we were doing lots of cooking, and I was very happy.

Around 6 pm, I heard popping sounds at close intervals. I thought the bottled water and drinks from my freezer were exploding due to over-freezing, so I went to switch off my freezer.

I'm sincerely grateful I didn't know it was my Felicity inverter that had gone bad because it would have spoiled my mood that day. Maybe I didn't suspect it because the inverter was in use and continued working. I detected the issue the following morning. The Charge Controller part is faulty; if you toggle the breaker on/off, the breaker flashes a spark light, but the inverter shows no error and does not come up as it used to before. However, if turned on, the inverter part works fine.

I am not mobile at the moment, so taking it to the repair center is out of the question because it is so heavy. I would rather use it as is until it becomes completely useless. Furthermore, I really do not trust them to do a good repair because I took the faulty 120 amps stand-alone charge controller to Felicity Repair Center twice for use in another system, and it still went bad; it's currently bad.

So now, I have to refill my gas cylinders for cooking and depend on NEPA to charge the battery via the utility. But you know that NEPA would do their thing; there's been no light in my area since Oct 1st!!

My Thoughts
1) Should I buy a new Felicity charge controller? Will buying another Felicity product make sense?

2) Should I buy a hybrid inverter instead? (The hybrid will charge the battery and power my night load)

3) Are the charge controllers going bad because of a lack of communication between the battery and the charge controllers?
If yes, can I upgrade my battery by adding a communication port?

4) Are the charge controllers getting spoiled because of overheating?

A lot of questions are coming to mind; that's why I made this post so I can get help to figure out the issue and make the best decision.
Thank you!

This is one of the reasons I often suggest knowing actual cause of an issue before jumping at solutions.

It's kinda obvious the solar panels are too big for your chargers and viceVersa.

Kindly tell us how the solar panels are connected e.g how many are in series and how many in parallel

Equally assist with clear pictures of the sticker (especially those of the charge controller and/ or hybrid inverter) so we don't have to rely on google that could end up feeding us wrong info

What you did is called Neutral to earth bonding,
You’re correct just that it should have been done on a changeover and you still need to deactivate the settings on the inverter change it to off.
Lose the bottom cover and locate N-E lose it, because you will likely see it with a small metal connected.

Just search for the inverter manual settings on how to deactivate Neutral to earth bonding. This is also done in A.C transformer reason why N-E reading is below 5v.

The issue is called Neutral floating.
I have a situation a bit different from that of the OP. At my place after the complet house wiring and Earthen was done, I noticed that both the neutral and life wire were showing light when tested with the tester and my inverter, battery and fridge handle were slightly shocking, at first I thought it was leakage but I decided to put off the general breaker that bring in grid first and did a direct testing and both wire were still showing light, furthermore, I went to a shop opposite my house that share this same pole with me to test and it was the same, so, I concluded that the problem is from our Transformer. My question now is that can I do this Neutral to Earth bonding in this situation?

.

You have to check yours separately.
Isolate each setup.
Check the board when on a.c (nepa) if your earth wire glows when you put a tester on it.
Use multimeter to check the N-E if it’s 70-90v.
If it’s 5v then no issue, but if above 5v your earth rod isn’t deep enough.

Also check each sockets miniature breaker on the Main board.

If you do the reading and it shows 70-90v or more, check another shop circuit reading.
Since you didn’t mention that your area has an issue of Nepa light burning appliances. So your transformer is well bonded.

You can do N-E once for your board/ change over. I made a mistake in what i sent before.

So go ahead and run a 6mm wire from your board N pole to your earth point and join them.

The panels are connected in 3s2p.
What this could only mean is the max Voc of the inverter is not up to the stated 195v.Jinko 580 w panels Voc is about 52v so 3s should be less than 195v.If you can't upgrade to an hybrid because this is still serving, buy another charges controller( it might not even be up to 120ah) and reconfigure your panels to 2s3p.A 100amp charge controller would do but buy the ones with fan.

The cost of 130 amp charge controller will almost buy you a 5kva/6va hybrid inverter

The answer to my question, is either a YES, or a NO.
It is obvious, as you stated in the advert, that they are stainless Pots, hence there is no need to ask if they are stainless..
But i take it as a "No", they are NOT Non-stick bottom Pot.

Thank you all the same.

Do you mean if they have non stick coating?

They don't have any harmful PFOA or TEFLON coating.

18/10 stainless steel pots doesn't stick as they can be "seasoned".

Good day guys. I’m having a small issue with my inverter & I’m not sure whether the problem is with the inverter itself or the PV panels.
During the daytime, I switch off grid charging & allow the PV to charge so I can run my freezer all day. This morning I noticed that whenever I put a load above 100 watts on the inverter, it immediately shuts down and shows “low battery.” After a few minutes it comes back on.
When I switched off the PV & changed over to NEPA (grid), it started charging normally & the problem stopped.
Please note that my inverter is only 1.5 kVA, and many of you here know when I installed the panels (535 W and 585 W). Could the issue be coming from the inverter or from the PV side?

I just checked it now and it seems to be quite okay. One thing I also noticed now is that as soon as NEPA took the light, the inverter switched off and took about 2mins before it came back on. And at some point, it stopped charging via grid too, I just noticed that. Meanwhile my battery is still above 80 percent

Check your battery DC breaker, most likely that there’s a partial connection From battery to the inverter.

Thanks, I had to call the installer this morning to come check it out. He removed the side panels of the inverter (where the air filters are) and cleaned out all the dust. He suggested the issue might have been caused by dust, since the inverter had stopped charging the battery from both the grid and the PV system.
After he finished cleaning and retightened the cable connecting the battery to the inverter,He switched off the systems and on it back then it started working again. It is currently charging from the PV & Grid with no issues, but I’m still monitoring it to see if the problem recurs.

not panels of the battery is 80% full…check the inverter to battery connection…clean battery terminals and retighten your bolts….

If it’s not going off with grid then the inverter is not using battery…

If it goes off with pv den the array isn’t supplying the full load then it’s taking from battery,,it goes off cause battery isn’t supplying enough…

I eventually called the installer and he did as you said, tightened the bolts and cleaned the air filter, then restart the inverter and it has been charging since then. I’m yet to charge it with grid though
