Ogbomosho before Asaba or Awka?
I believe the two cities will take their rightful places in future editions.
Re: 18 Nigerian Cities In The 2026 Global Cities Index by VeeVeeMyLuv(f):
The list contains 1000 cities global ranking

So you can imagine the rankings
The capital carried 741st out of 1000

Ibadan over Aba. I'm sure Aba will beat Ibadan in business, human capital and environment. Connectivity is the problem.

Portharcourt doesn't surprise me. Julius Berger flyover above declining standard of living and worsening unemployment doesn't count as development.

Owerri being in that rank really surprises me.
I didn't realize the city is being recognized.
It gladdens me to know this as someone that is from Imo state .
Governments in these Igbo cities should really put in more effort to build up this cities to the standard of a Lagos .
When we get to that stage ,of course ,Igbos living and working in other states outside the South-East states can always come back home to invest in their states .
Infrastructures and structures just have to be in place first and foremost

You mean that the very cities that APC boys don't want us to hear word with are in Number 481?

Shayme on them.

The way they make noise about it, you will think the city is rubbing shoulders with. Little do you know that it cannot even enter the same room as smaller cities like Nairobi.
Re: 18 Nigerian Cities In The 2026 Global Cities Index by Gingerly: 12:12pm On Oct 08
South East representing well despite the fact that there are only five states there.

All South East states have a city there except Umahi's Ebonyi that is dragging South East back.

Umahi is really a clown.

Re: 18 Nigerian Cities In The 2026 Global Cities Index by Sergio102(m): 12:23pm On Oct 08
Onitsha is doing great. Upon the slow pace in soludo administration

I expected Abeokuta up there.
Kaduna and uyo also.

On uyo....I feel there's less population density, but the development there make sense

It's a world ranking of cities

Experts scored 1,000 cities on things like economy, living standards, and opportunities.

Nigeria got 18 cities into that list.

Lagos is Nigeria’s best (score 41.8, world rank #485).
Sokoto is last in the whole world ranking (#1,000 with a score of 0).

Aba and Ibadan both have five metropolitan LGA. Aba is more developed, built up, better planned, more beautiful and more productive than Ibadan. Ibadan is a pile of filt.

You are joking sir. You cannot separate business from population. The mistake many of you make is that you pass through places built 60 to 70 years ago or even more. There are vast places of development in Ibadan and big businesses also.
Re: 18 Nigerian Cities In The 2026 Global Cities Index by lawani(m): 1:08pm On Oct 08
They should have mentioned what they ranked the cities with.
The most important things are
Population and urban spread
Number of banks
Number of hotels
Number of registered companies and smes
Government revenue
Number of schools
Number of universities
Number of local companies listed on the stock exchange
Number of local companies employing at least 500 people
Number of professionals registered in a professional body
Tech ranking etc etc

You can infact add yours to all these and do your own ranking and publish it

All without a single federal government of Nigeria penny investment, not a single dime and almost all the cities in other regions were built by the central government of Nigeria

I don't want to enter your argument but a little correction brother - Ibadan have 11 metro local government areas and not 5.

I strongly believe that there's a bored intern

who just finished a free Udemy course in MS Excel,

who now thinks he is a data analyst.

working with Statisense,

that Nairaland Mods run to,

each time this site is devoid of engaging content to keep revenue flowing,

to create some straight out of the butttt hole topics, that will trigger tribalistic banters.

Cuz, how on earth do senseless topics like this get churned out, and posted to the FP?

The five core 'urban' LGA in Ibadan are
Ibadan North
Ibadan North-East
Ibadan North-West
Ibadan South-East
Ibadan South-West

Die that your false size misinformation
