SonOfDSoil01:This is not Statisense statistics. Keep deceiving yourself, and don't hold your leaders accountable. The Human Capital Development Index is nothing to write home about. You continue to celebrate mediocre governance and push tribal representation instead of demanding accountability and the dividends of good governance. At long last, na your children's children go suffer am. Abegistanian. |

See what CHATGPT told me about Lagos oga Origin and development of Lagos Pre-colonial Lagos: The area was originally inhabited by indigenous communities, particularly the Awori, who are traditionally regarded as early settlers of the Lagos area. Fishing, farming and coastal trade were important to the early settlements. Benin influence: From around the 15th century, the area came under the influence of the Benin Kingdom. Benin traditions associate the establishment of political authority on the island with the Benin monarchy. The settlement became known as Eko. Portuguese arrival: Portuguese sailors reached the Lagos area in the 15th century. European trade gradually increased, particularly along the coast. Slave trade and commercial growth: Lagos became an important centre in the Atlantic slave trade. Its excellent lagoon, waterways and position along the Gulf of Guinea helped it develop as a commercial port. 19th-century transformation: In the 1800s, Lagos increasingly became a major centre of legitimate commerce, including palm products and other commodities. In 1861, Lagos was formally annexed by Britain. Colonial capital: Lagos became the capital of the British Colony and Protectorate of Southern Nigeria and later remained the capital when Nigeria became independent in 1960. Post-independence expansion: Lagos experienced enormous population growth after independence. The city expanded beyond Lagos Island into areas such as Surulere, Yaba, Ikeja, Apapa, Mushin and mainland Lagos. Modern megacity: The creation of Lagos State in 1967 and subsequent development of Lekki, Victoria Island, Ikoyi, Festac, Ajah and other areas accelerated the metropolitan expansion. Today, Lagos is Nigeria's principal commercial and financial centre and one of Africa's largest urban agglomerations. One important point is that modern Lagos was not created by one ethnic group or one colonial administration. Its development reflects layers of Awori settlement, Benin political influence, Yoruba migration, Brazilian/Saro returnee communities, European commerce, colonial infrastructure and massive post-independence migration from across Nigeria and West Africa. iykololo:😂😂😂😂 Human capital development? You must be kidding me, pls give us the data that place your region above yorubaland? Ibadan the city of many first was the point of early civilisation the Yorubas are well know for. We have the human capital resources which is evident in our control of the formal sector of the economy eg, financial institutions, insurance, manufacturing, construction, real estate, education, medicine, media, entertainment etc which why Sw is the choice of economic migrants across the country Even skilled labour, na we Dey run am, eg bricklayer, plumber, mechanic, tailor etc I did my camp in ummuna bende Abia state and served in owerri and while I was there, I saw Yorubas skilled worker who are usual contracted by your people to work for them on their build project because you lack the skills and here you are talking about human development, even education, we don’t have a rival…..Biko give us the data to your human index and leave Cho Cho Cho…..una go cry tire 😂😂😂 |

VeeVeeMyLuv:The reason why Abuja is still where it is today it's because very du ll brain people are in the majority over the years. People that think it's normal for cattle to roam about. Nevertheless, Abuja has been doing great lately that is why it's the second Nigeria city on the list. Look at port Harcourt. The leaders there are doing nonsense, rivers use to be behind Lagos before but it's nowhere to be found. If Lagos gets 13% derivatives from the tax they generate to federal government Lagos would have been better than this. |

Bulldozer90:Ameachi and wike are good examples of total failure. Ibadan has many advantages that would make it difficult for Aba to beat. Proximity to Lagos, population and revenue generated there. |

Bulldozer90:You mentioned metro and there are 11 local government areas in Ibadan Metro. The 5 local government areas are the urban. Now do you have 5 urban local governments in Aba? Or are there more than 5 in the Aba metropolis? |

ejimatic:Don't even go there. Osun still has a long way to go. How many infrastructure do U have in Ilesa? If not for Adeleke that just constructed the first dual carriage way from Brewery to Roundabout, we know how ancient the town looked before nah. Ilesa is far from it. |

SonOfDSoil01:So do you know better than the people that ranked the index? Audio igr that doesn't reflect in the life of the people, every area with dilapidated buildings is what you want to compare Eastern cities with modest environments and vibrant economy. |

SonOfDSoil01:But 3 SE cities topped all sw cities right? Don't mention lagos because you don't contribute anything to it's development. |
