As for Gelegele, and Mr Amaechi's claim they can start small with $500 million, and expand it in the future, I laugh. That's just election time political statements. First, a $500 million greenfield Port will just be a tiny little river Port with very little viability. If Ogun is doing $7 billion, and a Gelegele is a small $500 million Port, which one will the big ships go to? Second, most things built by the Federal government (civil servants & politicians), as opposed to the private sector, ultimately fail. Of the $500 million proposed by Mr Amaechi, it is highly unlikely that more than ($250 million) will be spent on the Port with the rest likely embezzled by civil servants & politicians (not necessarily Mr Amaechi himself), hence the project risk becoming an abandoned project. Third, Mr Amaechi, assuming his party wins, will only be a vice president. He can table any project, but the ultimate decision will rest with Mr Atiku as President. Make no mistake about it, Mr Atiku will rather spend $500 million in his region than spend it on a Gelegele port with questionable viability. Fourth, Gelegele wants a Deep Sea Port, Ogun wants, Ondo wants, Badagry wants, Akwa Ibom wants, I think another location in Rivers also wants one. Haba! And Warri, Port Harcourt, and Onne are still there. How much is Nigeria's trade volume to justify all these proposed and existing Ports? As things stand today, the best bets are Akwa Ibom, expansion of Warri, and Port Harcourt. Onne should remain a mostly oil & gas Port. Unless, Nigeria's economic growth picks up pace, maybe growing at say, 8% per annum consistently for about 10 - 12 years, even the proposed Ogun port may struggle to be viable. |

Lekki Deep Sea Port is owned through a special-purpose vehicle named Lekki Port LFTZ Enterprise Limited (LPLEL) under a 45-year Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) concession agreement. The equity ownership breakdown is as follows:

DatNiggaDaz:Shareholding Structure • Lagos State Government: 20% • Nigerian Ports Authority (Federal Government): 5% • Lekki Port Investment Holding Inc. (Private Consortium including China Harbour Engineering Company and Tolaram Group): 75% Lekki Seaport was built with partnership with a private company. So,Mr. Amaechi didn't build it |

The port is in a Free Trade Zone that Tinubu helped lobby investors to build and FG approved. Ask Amaechi if na Nigeria build the port or the Chinese concessionaires. Also ask useless Amaechi if he also built the port Dangote is using for his import and export in that same FTZ. He knows Obidients are foolish and gullible and will always swallow anything anti Tinubu because they never read. Olodo uprising. Tinubu was the brain behind the FTZ and that's not up for debate at all. Amaechi should kuku lay claim to Dangote refinery na. That you're a transport minister when the project started doesn't mean you built it, kudos to those who came up with the idea. |

A lot of Nigerians are glorified olodos who do not know how Governance work. Amaechi did not build Lekki deep seaport. Amaechi merely supervised it's construction after President Buhari approved work on it to begin. Tinubu conceived it and Buhari built it. Amaechi was merely a Minister, same as Umahi is to PBAT, who must supervise whatever construction project he is put in charge of by the boss, Mr.President, who decides projects to be executed. How can you claim to build something you did not conceive nor gave approval for it's construction? This mad talk of Amaechi would.be same as Umahi, contesting for elections in future, say he built the Lagos-Calabar Coastal highway and not Tinubu.

femoree2:Absolutely. Well-said bro. The TInubu Government, while he was Governor, conceived it. Buhari decided to build the project. As transport Minister, Amaechi simply has to work on what is put on his desk by Buhari. His claim Tinubu and Sanwo Olu are taking credit for the project is dumb because Tinubu conceived the project and some President would have approved it's actualisation someday. Whoever is transport Minister, when a President approves the construction of the Lekki deep sea port, would have been obligated to supervise it's construction because that is their job. Amaechi is being clever by half because he knows many Nigerians are ignorant, emotional and cannot think critically. We see that with responses on this thread whereas any averagely bright person knows Amaechi is merely a Minister obligated to supervise any project his boss puts on his table. |

DatNiggaDaz:Joke. Who conceived the project, allocated land for it and drew plans for the Lekki deep sea port? Tinubu or Amaechi? This is why you guys fall short. You only know how to play politics of toxicity once you hate a person or people. Like it or not, Amaechi is merely effectively part of the construction crew while Tinubu who conceived the project, and Buhari who decided to build it, can legitimately take credit for Lekki deep seaport that has zero to do with Amaechi. I am the property developer who sees the vision, buys the hectares of land and drew the plans for the Estate. You, the mere builder I commissioned to deliver my vision, run around trying to take glory for it whereas you were merely my employee. Make it make sense. |

boxypane:Don't mind them. Only dumb folks will not know Nigerian political Parties are not about institutional integrity. Any intelligent person knows Nigerian Political Parties are about individual and who is heading the Party. Evidence is how Amaechi, Obi, Atiku have swopped Parties at least three times. Imagine Atiku's case where he even went back to PDP after leaving to join ACN and APC. Go to the UK and USA and you will find many remain in the same Party they joined till retiring from politics. I actually despair for Nigeria because of how politically unsophisticated and incapable of working with reality Nigerians are. Dey shout APC, PDP, NDC, ADC up and down when, in reality, these Parties are just vehicle for some to gain political office. Whereas many join Political Parties in established democracies because the philosophy of the Party aligns with their own and how they wish to lead. |
