Vanguard and lazy journalism. Petrol isn't 1900. The actual body of the report talks about diesel. OP did you even bother reading what you posted? |
| Re: Petrol Hits N1,900/litre As Depot Prices Surge Despite NNPC Cut by mycar: 8:48am On Oct 10 |
Dogalmighty17:You are correct regarding the inconsistency in that report; Vanguard did a very terrible job there. Diesel was mentioned at one point, PMS also in another point. |

The news is wrongly reported. The #1900 refers to diesel. Doesn't excuse the incompetence of bat though. |

It's now clear that the press release itself was hurriedly put together because they got the info that fuel price was about to hit 1900 naira. This is why they announced that fuel price will be capped at 1345. But Taiwo Oyedele lied by saying the NNPC will be selling at cost and that only their profit will be foregone. If we are to go by what was said, Nigerians will continue to buy fuel at the fixed price of 1345 long after fuel price reduces in the internationally market until fuel marketers recoup their excess cost, if ever. This opacity opens the door for massive corruption beyond what Nigerians have ever seen. At this point, it would have been better if the government had just continued paying subsidies since corruption was what they gave as a major reason for discontinuing it. |

Petrol is not 1900 Naira. It is Diesel that is 1900 Naira. Read the article. The topic title is misleading. |

We getting there! The Houthis already wiped out 10 million barrels from the supply chain. We should be around 3000 Naira by December. If Ukraine can cripple Russia energy infrastructure and Middle East war escalates again, 5000 Naira is achievable. |

I have always wondered why fuel is often more expensive and scarce in the Niger Delta, the very region where Nigeria extracts much of its crude oil. In some communities, you can reportedly dig into the ground and strike crude oil instead of finding water. The region also has numerous illegal refineries, and crude oil products are frequently smuggled to neighbouring countries. Yet, ironically, people living in these same communities often pay more for fuel and struggle to access it than people in some of the regions and countries to which these products are smuggled or exported. How does this paradox make sense? |
