The people are very peaceful but any foreigner going to that country must be ready to contend with the spirits ruling that land. The spirits seem to contend with foreigners.

Had some strange bouts of sicknesses I never had in Nigeria.

Stayed in a house where the landlady was a traditional worshipper. Yes she was peaceful, but spiritually I had to fight some battles.

A beninese lady who moved in next to me was a traditional worshipper, had a tattoo of snake on her back. Apart from the spiritual attacks, she even tried seducing me, lol.

Apart from the spiritual climate, the country is peaceful, more conducive to live in than Nigeria. Their standards of living are higher.
Visited there severally, just for holiday sha

Yeah, it's a very peaceful country, as in very peaceful... Was surprised when I found out I didn't need to pay anything to visit their beach (they even laughed at me for thinking there's payment)

Aside transport business, I've not really seen noticed any major business there... Which businesses do you think thrive well there?

If you have like 5 million naira above you can invest in ankara textiles because the people were it daily, also transportation is lucrative.

You need plenty of money to enjoy that country....many Nigerians left when naira started free falling to the CFA.

There is a simple thing there: since the natives don't kill or eat the python, the python will not go against the natives.
Doesn't work like that Bro. Can you same same thing for venomous snakes like Cobra or Rattlesnake.
Python simply has no venom.

BBC Africa's post showcases the Vodun tradition in Ouidah, Benin, where communities revere Dangbé (Dan), the sacred python deity, treating royal pythons as divine symbols of protection, prosperity, and life force in rituals at sites like the Temple of Pythons.

Out of ignorance they think it is something worth celebrating worshipping snakes. They will remain backward.

I have been to the place in Quidah. Such a spectacle.

I summoned enough courage to wrap one of the snakes on neck.

I also went to the "Sea of no return" where slaves are been transported to Europe back in those dark era.

Snakes does not harm you only because it’s python. Why not go try rattlesnake or black mamba let’s confirm something.
even pythons are very dangerous. They strangle. They are constrictors
Re: Benin Republic Python Festival Sparks Online Curiosity And Debate by Lovelydaisies: 3:11pm On Oct 10
I think I first held a python here in Benin Republic. It must've been in Cotonou. They have a Temple de python as well - python temple, I think in Ouidah. The Beninese are a traditional people, like many other ethnic groups, and they hold on to it.

Come January 10th, they'll celebrate their Vodoun festival. I remember hearing sounds on those nights. Of course I never stepped out. grin

Nostalgia....

Not a new thing. Common among some communities in Eastern Nigeria. Idemmili people of Anambra state and Awo. Idemmili in Imo state, amongst other places. Used to see them in my maternal grandma's kitchen. She will just gently remove it with a stick. You'll even see one recoiled around a new baby. When a titled man dies,it comes to his compound to bid him farewell.
No one dares kill them. If you did, by mistake, you'll bury it as one buries a human, if you refuse, anything you see you take. Things dey happen o

Nothing to debate here.

That is their belief as Jesus is to Christians, and Muhammed is to Muslims.

It is a free world.

At least, theirs is not imported, which reduces their slave status.
Coming from someone that his life depend on imported stuff

How does that invalidates my point?

Should I condemn dem because I am a "slave" to western products?

It is a free world, and they should be allowed to practice their belief, just as you and I are allowed to practice our Islam and Christianity.

You are not better than them,

Infact, their belief help preserve the snake, while we don't hesitate to kill them over here.
