Rangers International FC (the Flying Antelopes) of Enugu retains the league cup and more
Re: NPFL Discussion Thread by anonimi: 3:01am On Oct 06
This is a great way to sanitise our league and make it better for everyone involved, so that more people can identify with their home team and participate in the games.

SportblitsNews:
Inter Lagos have been hit with multiple sanctions by the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) following disciplinary breaches during their Matchday 7 fixture against Katsina United on Sunday, October 4, 2026.

The Lagos-based club was sanctioned after failing to provide adequate security during the home match, which reportedly allowed unauthorised persons to gain access to restricted areas and attack match officials as they made their way from the dressing room to their vehicle.

The NPFL also found that match officials were held for more than an hour after the game, while club officials and supporters were accused of conduct that contributed to the incident.

Inter Lagos Fined ₦5.25 Million

The club has been handed a total financial penalty of ₦5.25 million.

The sanctions include:

- ₦2 million for failing to provide adequate and effective security.
- ₦1 million for holding match officials for more than one hour.
- ₦2 million for the assault on match officials.
- ₦250,000 compensation to the affected first assistant referee for lost belongings, damage to his phone and medical treatment.

Three Points And Three Goals Deducted

In addition to the financial penalties, Inter Lagos have been hit with a major sporting sanction.

The NPFL has ordered the deduction of three points and three goals from the club's accrued totals following the reported assault and injury suffered by the first assistant referee.

The punishment could have a significant impact on Inter Lagos' position in the NPFL standings.

Inter Lagos have 48 hours from the date of the notice to appeal the sanctions.

What do you think about the NPFL's punishment? Is the three-point deduction fair?

I once complained about NPFL clumping all the matches on weekends at 4pm, seems the league has seen the need to spread the kickoff times especially of clubs with high viewership. They've rescheduled Matchday 9 match between 3SC vs Ranchers Bees to Friday evening at 6pm from 4pm on Sunday. Viewership is a big income generator to leagues, even the EPL doesn't joke it as rich as they are. Yes, there are security concerns. I hope there safety measures our in place to ensure the safety of the fans
The league management has to arrange for matches to be played on days when English premier league and European champions league games are not played. This should help grow our own league viewership and socioeconomic benefits for us all.

Monday evening games could be tried out, we might develop a Monday night football culture.

The bolded won't be easy because premier league matches are played 3 times a day on Saturdays, twice a day on Saturday and at least one match on Monday night. There's no way our local league matches won't clash with theirs. What the NPFL board needs to do is to make the league attractive enough for people to want to watch. The Friday night fixture is an excellent idea, I don't think any too European league play at that time

Friday night games is a brilliant idea, to develop a culture for family and friends supporting their home teams, to watch live games.

I hope that NPFL will work on this idea for more big games on Friday night, starting at 6pm or even 5pm, which can serve as a great start for weekends.

https://x.com/npfl_news/status/2107219985462637011?s=46[/quote]This is commendable to the league.

Say no to unsportsmanlike behaviours in football.

Fines plus points and goal deductions are fair.

Anybody saying otherwise is an enemy to Nigerian football.

Let's move on.

Shooting stars and Kano pillars are currently playing goalless draw
Re: NPFL Discussion Thread by dominique(mod):
Full Time 0-0. 4th consecutive draw for Kano pillars. Despite not losing a match yet, they sit on 7th. Their coach, Daniel Ogunmodede is supposed to inject all that national team experience into the club. Their campaign so far has been far from impressive

Fixtures for MW8 of the EuroMatch NPFL

4pm: Abia Warriors vs Rivers United

4pm: Barau v Rangers Int'l

4pm: Kun Khalifa v Shooting

4pm: Nasarawa v Doma United

4pm: Plateau United v Kano Pillars

4pm: Sporting Lagos v Bendel Insurance

4pm: Warri Wolves v Inter Lagos
Re: NPFL Discussion Thread by TheStoriesOfMan: 1:10pm On Oct 11
My predictions:

Abia Warriors vs Rivers United: A draw or an upset for Rivers United.

Barau v Rangers Int'l: Top of the table clash. A win for Rangers will boost their position. Seeing a draw. Never underestimate Barau at home.

Kun Khalifa v Shooting: Shooting has not been impressive. I'll back them to at least get a point. But the unpredictability of Kun can give them the extra edge to at least fight for a win.

Nasarawa v Doma United: A straight wins for the Lafia boys.

Plateau United v Kano Pillars: Kano Pillars pulling off nice points on the go, they can also add this to their portfolios of wins if the play to their strengths.

Sporting Lagos v Bendel Insurance: The "Edo no dey carry last" mantra can be in their favour of the away side. Sporting has been onandoff, though I strongly believe they can snatch a win.

Warri Wolves v Inter Lagos: The Warriors should try to win at home, properly. I believe they can get maximum three points from these posh boys. Adjekpako suppose get strength pass adjebota, no be so?
