Kano NDC reveals why guber candidate is missing from INEC list, calls for calm

Kano State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has urged its members to remain calm following the omission of its governorship candidate, Aminu Abdussalam-Gwarzo, from the final list of candidates released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Saturday.


The party’s Public Relations Officer, Yusif Fasaha, gave the assurance in a statement made available to journalists in Kano shortly after INEC released the list.

Fasaha said the omission was not caused by the party, adding that INEC had attributed the development to a computer glitch and promised to correct it.


“I want to assure you that, as the PRO of the party, the problem is not from us.

“We have consulted INEC, and they told us that the problem was from the computer and that they would rectify it.


“So, everybody should remain calm. Between now and Monday, another list containing his name will be released,” he said.

The NDC spokesman maintained that Abdussalam-Gwarzo had fulfilled all the requirements for the election, insisting that the necessary processes had been completed within the stipulated timeframe.

He added that the party had reviewed the published list and would continue consultations with relevant authorities to resolve the issue.


DAILY POST reports that the list contained 17 governorship candidates and their running mates from various political parties.

Governor Abba Yusuf was listed as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congres, APC, alongside his running mate, Murtala Sule-Garo.

It was Validated The situation has destabilised the NDC in Anambra. at the moment the party is largely functioning online.

Meetings are held online and, from my perspective, there is no effective physical structure on the ground.

Has Peter Obi visited the NDC secretariat in Anambra since becoming the party’s presidential candidate?

He has not.
