Obi won a state in the North last election in addition to the FCT

Actually, in 2023, Peter Obi won 2 states in the North (Nasarawa/Plateau), plus FCT.

However, the dynamics of the 2027 elections are completely different.

As at 2023, APC was just the party holding a majority of political positions across the country. Tinubu was at a disadvantage because of his Muslim-Muslim ticket and because then President Buhari did not overtly support him.

Now, unbeknownst to many of us, APC has become a hulking political behemoth e.g. just take a look at the last party membership registration exercise. At its close on 10May2026, these are the figures:

* APC: 12.9 million.
* PDP: 2.4 m
* ADC 1.6 m
* LP: 1.3 m
* NDC: 700,000
* etc.

As at today, APC members alone outnumber Tinubu’s 2023 total 8,794,726 votes by 47%.

Meanwhile, Atiku & Obi polled 6,984,520 & 6,101,533 votes respectively i.e. 13,086,053 in 2023. Thus, APC membership as at today is only 186,053 short of what Atiku/Obi got in 2023.

Of course, politics is not arithmetic, but practically the only way the opposition can defeat APC in Jan. 2027 is by queueing behind a single candidate (which is looking impossible).

Atiku already knows this, that is why he is laser-focused on the issue of subsidy removal.

In politics, 3 months is a long time.

The opposition should be out there telling us what they have to offer, rather than engaging in needless online spats or demarketing each other.

There are absolutely zero polling stations on social media.

Tinubu and APC just have to to at all cost. Anywhere NDC doesn't have a candidate, NDC supporters will vote ADC or SDP, APC is a deadly virus that must be destroyed by Nigerians for Nigeria to experience progress and unity again

2027 elections will be the easiest for the Apc and it will retire some so called big name politicians permanently.

To be fair, Tinubu will get votes in the South East more than he did the last election courtesy of governors from Anambra, Imo, Enugu and Ebonyi.

For North Central, he will come a distant third and marginally come first in South West.

The states that Atiku pulled results in 2023 are PDP govern states but now he has 2 states and 1 (Oyo) is gone technically. Kwankwaso is not far from the truth.
