I was a staff of Oceanic registerers ,226 Awolowo road Ikoyi,by Falomo...we handled the Dangote flour IPO back then...And yes his cronnies buy first, get their share certificates printed, stamped and ready for the secondary market before it gets to the public.
Alright 👍.

So, based on your experience and projections, what do you advise about the ongoing IPO?

Should we:

A. Buy now
B. Wait till the shares are listed
C. Not buy at all.
Re: Dangote Refinery Extends $1.6 Biliion IPO To October 27 by Exmay(m): 8:32am On Oct 14
If indeed the IPO has been oversubscribed at this stage, then the likely contributing reason for adding more time and calling for more subscription is to:

1. Please Kenyans - He has only recently broken ground in Kenya for a new refinery. There is some opposition over there. He wants to be seen given them a chance to ‘own’ a part of the ‘pie’.

2. Reduce Bulk buyers: Bulk buyers are more likely to actively trade their shares by selling it off in order to cash out. However, retail buyers who small quantity would be holding on to these shares much longer. They are usually longterm focused in order to actually profit. Dangote prefers the second group of people.

What this means is that, a lot of people will be getting some refunds.

Just thinking aloud.

My advice is this, whoever has loose cash can go ahead and invest for the long-term gains. But whoever hopes on this investment to cash out, please stay away because it will definitely hit rock bottom first.

Despite all the frenzy that followed the initial week of the offer, it seems its not been subscribed as the promoters thought but nevertheless i still believe its a good business decision to own the shares.

it obviously obvious Nigeria are not financially intelligent and this thread shows the reason we have financially unintelligent people on NL. it is very disheartening.

Do you have evidence to show for this? TIP hybrid IPO was oversubscribed and fund refunded with interest.

The world is drifting away from oil to Renewal Energy, and here we are building refinery.
Is your country part of the developed countries moving away from oil? Some of you just post without context. We haven't even been truly industrialised. We NEED refineries. We have not even harnessed our oil resources properly to reap the benefits. Also, only a country run by fools will join a bandwagon in moving away from the strength of its economy. The move against oil is geared towards enslavement. That is a deep topic for another day.
Re: Dangote Refinery Extends $1.6 Biliion IPO To October 27 by Meerahbel: 9:01am On Oct 14
My experience with the Nigerian capital market has taught me one important lesson: sometimes, the biggest opportunities are found when the majority is still questioning the story.

I bought Seplat when many people were sceptical, asking how the company would succeed in Nigeria while competing with established international oil companies. I took a different view, invested, and the investment eventually generated over ₦150 million in returns.

Beyond the financial gain, what made that investment particularly meaningful to me was what the returns enabled me to do. I was able to support and train my younger sister, and I also helped two of my youger brothers with their education abroad.

My experience with Aradel was similar. I invested in the company back when it was still trading on NASD, at around ₦105 per share. At the time, it was essentially a high-conviction, last-card investment for me. Today, the stock trades above ₦1,500+.

These experiences have shaped how I look at the NGX. I don't simply follow the crowd; I look at the business, the management, the underlying assets, the industry, and—most importantly—the long-term story.

Dangote is, in my view, a quintessential Nigerian businessman who understands the importance of building scale and controlling the value chain. Of course, every investment carries risk, and past performance is never a guarantee of future returns. But having seen what conviction and patience can produce in the Nigerian market, I wouldn't dismiss a good opportunity simply because the crowd is sceptical.

Sometimes, the market rewards those who are willing to look beyond today's noise and focus on tomorrow's value. Plus I am slo heavily invested in US stick market to help me hedge against inflation.

How?

What is the connection between extending a private company's IPO and money for election?

Will Dangote hand over the money to Tinubu, Atiku or Obi?

I am surprise only few of us know this. Majority keep falling for his gimmicks.

Anyway by the time they will realise it, most of them would have outgrown the money and won't bother about it.

Boss, your correct ooo
BUT that's my own point view. Me I always think of the future (maybe because of my profession).
We can be drilling our oil without even using or refining larfe junk of it. America has oil but they don't depend on it. That money used to build a refinery can be diverted for another thing profitable. Maintain your old refineries, assign little amount of oil to them to extract some poly materials for local industries, but main crude should be sold out.
Renewal Energy should be the dream of any sensible country to bank on NOT refinery.

I can build Railway network across the nation, powered them with Solar station (go to china and see what is happeningthere). Durring the day they will be used as passenger train and at night they will be used in transporting agricultural good from one point to another, cows, bolders for quarry from north to south etc.

ghm:
That is for automobiles. Aviation is not yet viable electrically.

But the bigger picture is not just planes. Petrochemicals—plastics, fertilizers, chemicals—is the only other source of oil demand growth besides aviation, and it is growing everywhere. Road freight is also much harder to electrify than passenger cars. And even with 634 million EVs on the road by 2050, conventional vehicles will still make up 73% of the global fleet.

The world is not drifting away from oil as fast as people think. Refineries that can process crude into petrochemicals and aviation fuel have a long runway.
Your not far from the truth o, but
I bet you, people wont make that big fortune as they expects with Dangote refinery.

You should know that major capitalists around the world covertly support major flagbearers in different political parties to have some policies work in their favour.

He said the other day that Dangote company does not really need money from IPO before they can expand. That the public offer is just to help poor Nigerians build prosperity.
So this extension is to offer more prosperity, he wants to take every poor person out of poverty 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

To the people that feared missing out and bought, rich man dey sell hope/prosperity to you, una dey buy.
