U.S. President Donald Trump has shared a dramatic video showing handcuffed suspects being transported under heavy security from aircraft into what appears to be a high-security prison in El Salvador.

Trump posted the footage on his X account on Tuesday, October 14, 2026, alongside a message linking the operation to falling crime rates in the United States.

“THIS IS WHERE WE SEND OUR KILLERS, DRUG DEALERS & THUGS. THIS IS WHY MURDER AND OTHER CRIMES IN AMERICA ARE AT RECORD LOWS,” he wrote.

The approximately three-minute video features scenes that look like something straight out of a Hollywood action movie.

It opens at what appears to be an airfield at night, where several aircraft are parked while buses and other vehicles wait nearby. Heavily armed security personnel surround the area as the operation gets underway.

One after another, the suspects are brought out of an aircraft in handcuffs, with chains attached to their legs. Armed officers escort them towards waiting buses and other vehicles, maintaining tight security throughout the transfer.

The suspects are then transported in a heavily guarded convoy through a well-lit city in the darkness, with an aircraft seen hovering above the moving vehicles.

The footage continues at a heavily secured facility, where some of the detainees are seen having their heads shaved. Armed guards and uniformed personnel are positioned throughout the premises.

In the final scenes, the suspects appear in matching white round-neck shirts, white shorts, white socks and white sneakers. With their heads bowed and hands restrained, they are escorted one after another into the prison facility as armed officers watch closely.

The level of security throughout the operation is striking, with guards surrounding the detainees at almost every stage, from their removal from the aircraft to their movement inside the facility.

The footage is understood to be connected to U.S. deportation operations involving El Salvador, particularly the country's Terrorism Confinement Center, popularly known as CECOT, a massive prison established under President Nayib Bukele's crackdown on criminal gangs.

The Trump administration has previously worked with the Salvadoran government to send certain deportees, including people accused of gang affiliations, to detention facilities in the country.

Trump's message suggests that removing individuals he considers dangerous from the United States is a major reason for the decline in American crime rates.

U.S. homicide rates have indeed fallen significantly in recent years. However, crime researchers have identified several possible reasons for the decline, including policing strategies and community violence intervention programmes. The extent to which deportations to El Salvador have contributed remains disputed.

The video has once again drawn attention to Trump's hardline approach to immigration enforcement and El Salvador's highly restrictive prison system.

I was cimpelled to research whether the record drop in crime as touted by Trump was due to his stringent anti-immigration policies have been poo-poohed by experts.

Rates were dropping after the disruptions caused by the Covid epidemic in 2020/2021..

Studies have shown that sanctuary cities where the police refuse to cooperate with ICE have also enjoyed similar falls to those where ICE were very active.
