Eight Soldiers Killed As ISWAP Landmine Hits Army Patrol Vehicle In Borno by InfoGuru118(op): 1:23am On Oct 19
At least eight Nigerian soldiers have been killed after a landmine struck an army patrol vehicle in Borno State, with military and local security sources blaming the attack on Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

The incident occurred on Saturday in Kinuba village, about 25 kilometres from Gamboru, near Nigeria’s border with Cameroon, according to defence sources who spoke to Agence France-Presse (AFP) on Sunday.

The attack came on the same day the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, visited Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, following an earlier assault on a military base that reportedly killed 15 soldiers and five members of an anti-jihadist militia.

According to the sources, troops were inspecting militia members engaged in clearing thick vegetation along a highway outside Gamboru when their vehicle ran over the explosive device.

The explosion killed all eight soldiers travelling in the vehicle.

“All eight soldiers in the vehicle were killed in the explosion,” a military officer in the region told AFP.

Ibrahim Liman, a member of an anti-jihadist militia supporting the military, corroborated the reported death toll, saying the explosive had been planted on the dusty road and remotely detonated.

“The explosive was planted on the dusty road and remotely detonated by a detonating cord,” Liman said.

He added that a militia member supervising the vegetation-clearing operation sustained shrapnel injuries in the blast.

The sources attributed the attack to ISWAP, an armed group active in the region. However, the attribution was based on the accounts provided to AFP.

Landmine Attacks Raise Security Concerns
The incident highlights the continuing threat posed by improvised explosive devices along roads used by military personnel and civilians in Nigeria’s North-East.

ISWAP and its rival, Boko Haram, have increasingly used landmines and other explosive devices to target military patrols and civilian traffic.

Dense vegetation along highways also provides cover for ambushes against troops and motorists, further complicating security operations in the region.

Nigeria’s jihadist conflict began in 2009 and has killed tens of thousands of people, while displacing an estimated two million residents from their homes in the North-East.

Although the violence declined from its peak about a decade ago, attacks have increased in recent years, according to the AFP report.

The insurgency has also affected neighbouring Niger, Chad and Cameroon, prompting regional cooperation and the deployment of a multinational military coalition to combat the armed groups.

I still don't know why the army is still using light-skinned vehicles to patrol in the war zone like the NE. The army commanders should invest heavily in MRAPs to avoid these avoidable deaths of personnel and increase warfront viability.

The Islamic State – West Africa Province (ISWAP) is a Salafi-jihadist militant group
If your religion have affiliation with such, then what is it.
Funny how they do it in the name of god, the world is blinded and they fail to call them what it is, blood thirty.
The military will try and arrest them , they will release them in the name of repentant terrorists

What is happening in this country is largely underreported and suppressed to hide the reality of what it is going through.
We have become a new Somalia.
The hand of the sons of Baal is striking this country, and the people of Baal whom we live with and vote into power are suppressing the real picture of what is happening, so that people don't rise to fight back until it is too late.

Goodness me. We're burying soldiers daily and it's as if nothing happened. This is why we must get it right in 2027. We cannot lose this much military personnel on home soil and at like it's fine. We can't!

In this technology age, we have armies in war region but can't deploy the technologies for surveillance. Do you know what it takes for non-stare actors to set landmines for constitutional armies? ooh shame

The reason is simple enough- Tinubu prefers to get more luxury for himself than to make adequate and appropriate equipment available to the soldiers.

The master strategist of a-looter propaganda politics is not just incompetent and corrupt, he is also a wicked expert in Stalinist Stockholm syndrome suffering on the masses.

chisomkachy:
Nigerian President Bola Tinubu’s first supplementary budget includes a fleet of SUVs for himself and his wife, a presidential yacht and the renovation of his villa amid a cost-of-living crisis for some of the poorest people in the world.

The proposal — which seeks additional funding beyond the annual budget approved by Tinubu’s predecessor — comes as the government asks Nigerians to persevere through pain caused in part by a raft of economic reforms ushered in by the new president. Africa’s most populous country faces rampant unemployment, soaring food prices and a plummeting currency.

Federal lawmakers approved the president’s request for extra spending on Thursday, but eliminated the provision of 5 billion naira ($6.01 million) to buy a presidential yacht. Instead, they doubled the allocation to a student loan fund to 10 billion naira, according Abubakar Bichi, chairman of an appropriations committee in the House of Representatives.

The lawmakers approved 1.5 billion-naira proposed to purchase SUVs for the office of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu — an amount larger than that allocated to many individual federal colleges. The supplementary budget also proposes almost 6 billion naira to purchase SUVs for the presidency — more than the amount initially allocated to fund a student loan program for poor families.

The eyesore on Bourdillon Road
2nd January 2025

Beyond his neighbours, there is something about the sight of people hanging around a president’s residence that does not speak well of his leadership capabilities. Maybe no one has nudged him to see it, but the impression that spectacle on Bourdillon Road generates is that Tinubu enjoys the sight of suffering humans and thrives in—and through— their poverty.

If all these years, impoverished people hang around you and you remain comfortable enough to keep them just so they can be handed tokens of your large heart, then it means you have a pro-poverty mindset. Such a frame of mind is oriented toward cultivating poverty rather than stimulating abundance.

That is why he could unproblematically relate the story of his “friend” who went from using five Rolls Royce to a far-less valued car and not consider the import of the nonsense he was saying. That spurious account was an indication that this is a man for whom poverty—of others, not himself—is an ideal.

According to the former Lagos Governor, he adopted the delegation method “to show team-ship”.

Tinubu spoke at the Chatham House lecture titled: ‘Nigeria’s 2023 elections: In conversation with Bola Ahmed Tinubu’, monitored by The Nation.

At the lecture, Tinubu after his opening remarks, assigned Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai to speak on how his (Tinubu-led) government would address insecurity and asked the Director of Strategic Communication of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Dele Aleke, to respond to the question on oil theft.

Terrorism is never local. It always has links beyond the borders. That's how they operate globally. When you see some countries resisting immigration from certain countries, they know the security threats.

ISWAP .. Boko Haram .. ISIS ...and whatever else ... let's pause for a moment and chew on this ... are they really Islamists? Note... being a Muslim and being an Islamist are not the same. An Islamist is pretty much a Muslim extremist .. same as a Christian extremist. If yes.. they are Islamists .. then why are they killing their own? The overwhelming majority of victims are Muslims. Does that make sense? It will.. if the group was if one faction and the victims of a different faction ... as in Catholics killing Pentecostals .. but this is not the case. So what is the motive behind these attacks? Can we think of a reasonable one?

It seems clear to me ..from information I gathered over various platforms ..that these are foreign sponsored groups aimed at destabilizing areas where the sponsor has an interest ..and destabilizing governments that get in their way.It seems to me the aim of these groups is to drive fear in the North ... to make the areas they want inhospitable. The sponsors want two things ... fertile land ... and areas rich with rare earth minerals.Attack the farmers..they will leave the land. Attack the villages..villagers will move out. Their religious affiliation does not matter . Who will take the land? Bill Gates comes to mind. He is the largest private land owner in the US and he is into agriculture... producing fruits that can carry "vaccines"... so why would he not want vast fertile soil in Nigeria? Then the North has large deposits of rare earth minerals. Yyouncannfigure that one out ..same blue print as in the Congo etc.

We need to get beyond the narrow minded Islamist jihadists and widen our view before it's too late

keep deceiving yourself.. Muslims can't take responsibilities for once. Why haven't "Christian extremists" bombed or kill people?? Why do these foreign sponsors only go for Muslims and not Christians ? There is oil in Niger Delta, we haven't seen Christian extremists bombing and killing people for their foreign sponsors.. it tells one thing.. but you should keep living in denial and lies.. while the problem continues

The killings would have stopped if Nigeria's politicians from the south have clear heads.

The political and religious leaders in the 12 far north Nigeria states unilaterally adopted unconstitutional Islamic sharia criminal justice system since 1999.
Boko Haram quickly emerged and says it's fighting for a country to be governed with Sharia criminal laws.

Solution should have been grant the 12 sharia states their sovereign Islamic Republic.
But the southern politicians wait for the day the Islamists shall declare Islamic Republic of Nigeria to be governed with Sharia criminal laws.

I
Like George Bush masterminded the suicide bombings of 9/11/2001 on US soil.
Conspiracy theory. Theory without foundation.

Look at the truth: in 1999, Sani Yerima the then gov of Zamfara state introduced sharia criminal justice system to Zamfara state.

Between 1999-2001, political and religious leaders in the other 11 far north Nigeria states adopted sharia crimimal justice system.

Obasanjo thought it was political sharia and ignored them.
By 2001, Muhammadu Buhari vowed he wouldn't relent until Islamic sharia criminal justice system is applied in all the states of Nigeria.

Sharia criminal justice system includes stoning blasphemous persons to death, stoning women to death for adultery, cutting out the hands of thieves, and other cruel punishment methods. Sharia criminal justice system is forbidden by Nigeria's constitution.

By 2009, Boko Haram had emerged and said it's fighting for a country to be governed with Sharia criminal laws.

Boko Haram and Islamists of Nigeria are responsible for the chaos going on in Nigeria.
