The same Buhari that threatened in Hausa language that "If what happened in 2011 should again happen in 2015.... the dog and the baboon would be soaked in blood."?

That same Buhari is now saint?

Chai....this country... undecided
Buhari only know destruction (that's his speciality). They gave home power, now there is no one he can be criticizing... What did he do? He ran to UK for 100 days and didn't appoint Ministers for 6 months. He only know how to inspire angry youths to burn and loot. Why a man that ruled Nigeria twice between 30 years apart couldn't pen a single book in his 70's... No knowledge to pass to the next generation because he is an empty demon. The only skill he has is too wicked to be published.

Tinubu has made deal with him otherwise if Buhari's friends and family can refund only 20% of what they looted, the economy would bounce back

All I know is that 4+4 is still equal to 8 years, if former president buhari could do 8 years without any interruptions inspite of all his bad.ecomomy policies then I see no reason that president Tinubu that's even making efforts to put back Nigeria on the right track shouldn't complete his 8 years.

Subsidy is not gone.

The master strategist of a-looter propaganda politics is still paying, and even paying more than those who gave us cheap petrol and better life of high employment productivity, prosperity etc to make us the biggest economy in Africa before 2015.

If Tinubu is not the most wicked person, why would he fight for power, grab and run with it only to fail in doing what he promised? Why did he fail to crash petrol prices below N185?

How can Buhari be the greatest failure, when we have the master strategist in a-looter propaganda politics as his successor?

The man who begged Buhari out of retirement to make Jonathan a one term president in 2015, which was four years after calling the kachalla soldier expired.

Tinubu’s begging trip to Kaduna was after their party invited terrorists to destroy our country.
They are co-conspirators but Buhari reduced the standards of what we expected from a leader. As a master manipulator, he for the first time carried politics into the mosque publicity. It was like social blackmail to not support him and everyone kept quit when exhibited his incompetence.

Every single Nigerian rich and poor would have a better quality of life of Buhari never had presidential ambition.

During CPC election they burnt NYSC members alive (including INNOCENT females), Buhari refused to condemn it or registered his condolences to the family (because he publicly encouraged fighting if they lose election). When Headsmen were killing he armed them because he knows if he lose the military, he has his own hired terrorist.

There's nothing like Buhari in that matter. The truth is that the powers that be within the presidency then did not want Tinubu to emerge as APC presidential candidate then, they wanted Osinbajo as the flag bearer because they knew that Tinubu is a bad option, and they were seriously ganging up to sideline Tinubu, it was when Tinubu saw the windstorm coming, he then threatened to say what he knows about the rumors of Buhari's demise by making a comment before the primaries in 2022 saying and I quote: "I will expose the man in AsoRock" (you can use your Google). That was how Tinubu held them on their blokos, seeing the desperation and seriousness in Tinubu eager to carry out his threats, they had no option than to appeal to Osinbajo to pull back for Tinubu, that was how Tinubu secured the APC presidential ticket by blackmail.
You just rewrote history. How did Osinbajo pulled back?

This Mauritanian nuisance and bigot should shut up. They all know it was the born-to-rule hegemonists and Northern supremacists around Buhari who did not want Tinubu in power because they knew he would be impossible to control or boss around.

We are seeing the results today. No subsidy removal and certainly no floating of Naira, against the bureau de change lifeblood of the North yet hugely detrimental to Nigeria, would have happened under any Southern President bar Tinubu.

No tax reforms either and no regional commissions etc. This is one of the reason I can never support Obi with no structure, no powerful allies or loyalists. Those cannot just appear overnight and any Southern president lacking them will be aeten alive by the North as the did to GEJ but can't try with Tinubu other than bark at Baba-Ahmed and co do.

We are not fools. The core North should go to hell. Reform and come into modernity or join Niger Republic and your Sahel Brothers in nationhood.

Sick and tired of these backwards people always trying to blackmail the South and retain us in the unproductive lives they love when the South deserves to be like Singapore whereas Gumi and co are still holding brief for bandits and terrorists who deserve to e wiped out in any serious nation on Earth.

Perhaps because I have live most of my life outside Nigeria, I can never understand how Nigerians, as if scared, allow the arrogance of Northerners who are the main problem of Nigeria, contributing 87% to the number of most poverty-stricken Nigerian alive, yet always demanding to lead and castigating the likes of OBJ GEJ and now Tinubu. The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Chief Olawale Edun has said the last time Nigeria’s economy looked stable was about a decade ago.

He made this statement during his maiden press conference as Minister of Finance where he outlined President Bola Tinubu’s vision, agenda and strategy for the economy.

He said, “I think as we all know, we are not where we should be. The economy is barely growing above the rate of population growth.

“But it was not always so, and I think in trying to look at the way forward, if we now have a situation of slow growth, double-digit inflation, weak/depreciating exchange rate, as well as security concerns that are resulting in an economy that is not growing and not taking Nigerians out of poverty.

“If we think back to the last time when the economy was stable- when it was growing, when inflation was low, and the interest rate was affordable, that period was about a decade ago. Growth was about 6% in 2013 and 2014.”

What "excellent record of governance"? Hatred of Tinubu will always make you utter senseless garbage.

You are not an economist talk less of one world class like Soludo, along with literally thousands globally, who have cited the precise reforms Nigeria needs to become a developed nation Tinubu is implemented yet GEJ touched not a single one. Nada.

I just don't understand Nigerians and how hate for others damage their commonsense and capacity to think.

If not, how can a normal and objective person claim Jonathan has an "excellent record of governance" when it is obvious he was too weak to introduce even one of the many reforms required to make us even like South Africa talk less of Canada, UK etal. You guys are something else.

I've lived in a develop nation most of my life and it is crystal clear to me we aren't getting anywhere near non of them, in terms of development, under any President who is not a brave and resolute reformer as Tinubu is and as Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore was. Hatred of Tinubu should not make you say dumb things .

Nigeria’s ‘Biggest Economic Threat’ Is Unemployment, But Data to Guide Policy Missing for 14 Months

Nigeria’s top economic risk for the 2026 economic year is unemployment but the country has not published any official labour statistics to measure its rate since November 2024, FIJ has found.

On Wednesday, the World Economic Forum’s Global Risks Report identified lack of economic opportunity and unemployment as Nigeria’s leading threat for the 2026 economic year.

The report also identified inadequate public services, economic downturn, inequality, and crime as the next four threats to economic stability in 2026.

Unemployment is serious enough for international observers but the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has not released Nigeria’s Labour Force statistics, however controversial, since the second quarter of 2024.

SILENCE SINCE METHODOLOGY REDESIGN
The NBS has been in the crossfire before for publishing Labour Force Data late in 2023 and 2024. In 2024, the bureau attributed the delay to an overhaul of its survey methodology.

At the time, NBS said it wanted to align Nigeria’s labour statistics with international best practices and ensure data quality and sustainability.

But the resulting data caused chaos. According to the NFLS published at that time (q1, 2024), only about 4.3% of Nigerians were unemployed. The data introduced new types of labour categorisation in the report.

Per the new method, anyone who works even minimal hours in a week is considered “employed”. The reliability of official figures was questioned by labour unions, business groups and even economists.

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), for instance, described the reported employment statistics as unrealistic. Chris Onyeka, the NLC’s National Assistant General Secretary, called the report a “voodoo document” and a “fabrication designed to mislead the public”.

Similarly, Gabriel Idahosa, President of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), said, “The technical improvement in the employment rate is more of a way that employment is now calculated; but the reality is that the economy is not looking like an economy where unemployment is significantly reducing.”

Since then, the NBS has not made any attempt to publish labour data.

Nigeria remains fourth largest economy in Africa despite rebasing

July 21, 2025

Nigeria has retained its status as the fourth largest economy in Africa despite a rebasing exercise that expanded the country’s gross domestic product (GDP).

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) announced that the economy expanded to N372.8 trillion ($243 billion) in 2024, down from N314.02 trillion in the prior year as more sectors in the informal economy were considered in its calculations.

The statistics bureau adopted 2019 as its base year away from 2010 that’s previously reported.

The rebasing exercise covers the period from 2019 to 2023 and reflects changes in the economy’s structure, sectoral contributions, and data sources.

Despite the overhaul, Nigeria fails to reclaim its erstwhile status as the largest economy in Africa.

According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), South Africa remains the continent’s biggest economy with a GDP of $410.34 billion for a country with little over a quarter of Nigeria’s population.

Following the Southern African nation is Egypt with a GDP of $347 billion while Algeria maintains its third position having $268.9 billion as the size of its economy.

Although Nigeria’s economy grew 30 percent above the projected $188 billion estimate by the IMF this year, the rebasing was poised to place the economy as the biggest in Africa.

Nigeria loses 47% of dollar millionaires, retains 4th position in Africa

Nigeria has lost nearly half of its dollar millionaires over the past decade, with the population of high-net-worth individuals falling by 47 per cent between 2015 and 2025, according to the 2025 Africa Wealth Report by Henley & Partners in collaboration with New World Wealth.

Despite the sharp erosion in private wealth, Nigeria retained its position as Africa’s fourth-largest hub for dollar millionaires, with 7,200 millionaires, 20 centi-millionaires (individuals with investable wealth of at least $100 million) and three billionaires, trailing only South Africa, Egypt and Morocco.

The report showed that South Africa remained the continent’s wealthiest country by number of dollar millionaires, with 41,100 millionaires, 112 centi-millionaires and eight billionaires. Egypt followed with 14,800 millionaires, 49 centi-millionaires and seven billionaires.
