In those bags lies lives that'll be ruined, families that'll become dysfunctional, innocent people who will be maimed, crimes that will kill peace in the society at large. We both know the "Old Crime crow" is just a front for the real owner of the business. When will our intelligence community use these low hanging fruits to actually catch, prosecute and jail the actual trees (masterminds and major distributors) of these illegal substance? Meanwhile, the old woman should be placed on house arrest, and all assets from the business sold off. |

| Re: 85-year-old Grandmother Arrested With Cannabis In Edo (photo) by bigdammyj: 10:33am On Oct 20 |
The grandmother, who admitted ownership of the drug, begged for forgiveness, saying she started selling cannabis over two years ago to survive as a widow. “My family members have warned me to stop, but I kept postponing my decision to stop. Officers, if you give me another chance, I will never sell cannabis again,” she pleaded. She has been in the trade (all her life) more than the two years acclaimed . High class olosho and drug dealers never retire. The trade is very lucrative and tempting. |

This woman is supposed to be in a care home at this age, but the government failed her. Same government is blaming her for trading illegals. Shame on the government. |

Stephen0mozzy:This woman should be considered for rehabilitation, social welfare, and/or placement in a care home. Who is going to employ an 85-year-old woman? How is she supposed to survive? What alternatives does society offer her? Until we begin to interrogate the structural failures that shape these circumstances, Nigeria will continue to descend into an abyss of institutional failure and collective indifference. |

Stephen0mozzy:SHUT UP AND STOP SPREADING NONSENSE PROPAGANDA. ALCOHOL IS FAR MORE DANGEROUS THAN CANNABIS. THIS HAS BEEN SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN DECADES AGO. BUT ALCOHOL IS FREELY AVAILABLE. WHY? THEY BETTER LEAVE THAT MAMA ALONE. BACKWARD, IGNORANT PEOPLE. THE COLONIALISTS THAT BROUGHT THAT RUBBISH LAW CRIMINALISING CANNABIS, GO TO THEIR COUNTRIES NOW. IT'S LEGAL OR JUST A MINOR 'OFFENCE' FOR WHICH THEY LET YOU OFF WITH A WARNING. In the USA, cannabis is legal in several states. COUNTRIES LIKE CANADA THAT YOU PEOPLE WORSHIP, THEY PRODUCE AND EXPORT IT NOW. EARNING BILLIONS OF DOLLARS A YEAR. According to a report, "Canada’s legal cannabis industry generates billions of dollars annually, driving significant revenue across domestic retail, agriculture, international trade, and tax collection. In 2025, the industry contributed nearly $11.6 billion to Canada’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP)." Here, you are busy arresting 85 year old grandma for cannabis possession. MENTALLY COLONISED ROBOTS THAT REFUSE TO USE THEIR SENSE. |

I read lot of comment above and I SMH. Are people normal? or they are just pretending to be dumb? Someone said "she should be sent to a care home, the government failed her etc". Do we have care homes in Nigeria? Or is it Government fault for an 85 years old to sale weed?... This is a grandmother for Christ sake, that means she have grown up children who were warning her to stop (She confirmed it). They is 100% chances that they were taking care of her and her needs but she insisted on selling weed. If you have ever lived with an elder woman before you will know how stubborn and nonechalant they are. Dear NDLEA, please Mama is too old to go to jail, in fact if she survive 3 month in jail it will be a miracle, please forgive her, fine her and her for counseling and rehabilitation. ANYWAYS I STILL BLAME HER CHILDREN FOR THIS May God help us |

Mama, you have finally brought shame to the family name. At last, you have destroyed the very reputation the family has worked so hard to protect. |

rossipki:You'll just come to the internet, type in all capital letters, because in the real world, you're so small that no one notices you. So you feel you can to bring your complete lhackk of h__ome traaaining to social media, so we can all see how big you are. Your cry for attention is noted. And you're forever ignored. |

Willie2015:Our culture made it easy for government to fail in the area of Elderly Care. And those of us who are young and able to clamour for it now are not doing anything. We forget that we will get old soon. Why did i say our culture? In these parts, children are EXPECTED as a matter of responsibility to take care of their ageing parents, government taking that as an excuse has refused to adopt the Modern Culture of Institutionalizing Elder Care, all they do is import tax policies, but never citizen welfare. Nonetheless, my grandmother who is also above 80 doesn't sell marijuana. So age is not an excuse for crime. |

Stephen0mozzy:YOU HAVE NO POWER IN YOUR LIFE, THAT'S WHY YOU FEEL STRONG ARRESTING INNOCENT 85 YEAR OLD GRANDMOTHERS FOR POSSESSING A GOD-GIVEN PLANT THAT HAS HEALED AND SOOTHED PEOPLE FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS BEFORE COLONIALISTS CAME TO PROGRAMME YOUR HEADS. THE COLONIALISTS LEFT 65 YEARS AGO, SO UNPROGRAMME YOUR HEADS. OKAY? |
