Good.move in the right direction. One of the biggest issues that I have with waste management in Lagos state is this idea of govt allowing and encouraging people to leave trash by road side for govt to come and collect later. That's an asinine policy. Let people pay private or govt contracted waste management companies to come and collect the trash. Why will the govt be responsible for trash at a market location? Let them take care of their waste, if they don't, then lock up the whole market until they comply. Most Nigerians by nature are just dirty, why will your surroundings be so dirty while you are waiting on govt to.come and clean it for you? Go anywhere in the world and you will quickly notice that the cleaner the people are, the cleaner their environment is. Japanese are cleaner by nature and it's reflected in their environment. The average Nigerian wil.dump pure water bag, satchet, bottles and others on the side of the road instead of leaving it in the car for proper disposal when they get home. |

Lagos state waste affects the whole country. Everybody chop blame including and especially government. Lagos is overpopulated. Other states and regions need to be developed to reduce the migration. Governors have a chief part to play in this. Also a very busy and well funded lawma must be at play. A Lagos where everywhere has easy access to waste dumps, and the dumps being cleared daily or in 48hrs. That's a big step in the right direction. Waste disposal and collection must be heavily funded by those that will benefit from it. Relying on citizens and communities to sponsor it is not working and should not be primary. |

PigTormentor:No, there's nothing like that. People actually do that because they've found out the companies don't enter into the streets to pick the dirts, but somehow want to pick the ones in the open areas They want to show that the roads are clean whereas the inner streets are piled up with dirt... So people decide to bring the dirts to the roads for them If Muhammad will not go to the mountain, the mountain will come to Muhammad What happens to Tokunbo? Na him carry this waste matter for head, giving promises he couldn't fulfil |

He should not only resign but should be blacklisted from working for any Government Agency. I must commend the light-up Lagos State initiative as the Entire Ikeja and most parts of Lagos State have been lit up with functional street lights. However, in a truth Lagos State is extremely dirty for a commercial capital likened to New York, Rio-Di-Jenero, Cairo, Johannesburg etc. Detty December is almost here and WizKid, Davido, Asake and Burna have lined up events with crowd pull- effects for the State. A "Crack-Team" and multi-pronged approach will have to be swiftly adopted to resolve the issue of filth. |

Yampotatocarrot:May be, but some of the worst ones that I have seen are close to markets where they all put their trash on the roadside. The govt should never allow or encourage such behavior. Instead of on the roadside, they should find a place in the market for trash disposal. If they don't cooperate, they should close down the market ASAP. |

He should resign abeg. This is even coming late. He is holding the whole state to ransome. He is not collecting refuse yet one can't still peacefully call aboki to collect the refuse. We're just caught there in the middle to live with the refuse. |
| Re: Sanwo-Olu Asks LAWMA MD, Muyiwa Gbadegeshin To Resign Over Lagos Waste Crisis by Yampotatocarrot(m): 5:27pm On Oct 20 |
PigTormentor:True... If you come to Iyana-Ipaja, there are two large waste "containers" there for the marketers to keep their waste... Unfortunately, the containers will be filled and overflowing with LAWMA no where to be found Lagos has to really look into this waste disposal issue and come up with a workable solution. People are already resorting to these Hausa cart pushers, who end up dumping the waste either along the main roads or in large gutters |

| Re: Sanwo-Olu Asks LAWMA MD, Muyiwa Gbadegeshin To Resign Over Lagos Waste Crisis by OlujobaSamuel: 6:15pm On Oct 20 |
PigTormentor:There are waste collection point where lawma stationed a big container for people to drop their waste, it's usually situated around market areas, the trucks come with empty container and take away the filled container. You pay your waste levy then take it to the collection point due to accessibility of the trucks. For the residential and commercial areas that are not market, trucks move from house to house, but lawma has failed to pickup the thrash that's why you see heaps at major bus stop. Also, there is private sector partnership, just the way the govt managers are irresponsible, so also are the private sector players, they buy 2trucks to serve 4communities, they collect waste disposal levy from the people, but refused to maintain the vehicle bringing in the money, neither do they pay their staff well, vehicles start developing fault, they now have 1 vehicle serving the 4communities allotted to them, from there they wreck the remaining truck, or staff dumped the job and face another hustle due to excessive stress |
