rafcrown:How far is the land to where you reside? Because no matter what you plant, it still need proper monitoring you can do OIL PALM, CASHEW these are long term crop trees but still they need constant monitoring you can't just leave them for long and not do anything.. |

The palm tree is the best. You get to plant about 55 trees and continuously fruit after 4 years. You can also look into papaya that starts giving you fruits to sell year round within a year , and Plantain/Banana will give you the same result |

Richhard:👆 This is the best answer so far. OP should get a trusted person to manage the farm on his or her behalf. If you plant any cash crop there without someone monitoring the place for you, you will go through lots of losses 😭😭 including theft of your crops and loss of the land itself. The best is to pay someone in the village where the land is to monitor the farm for you.. 35k a month for a start is not bad. Then go there and plant the crops or fruit trees by yourself. Get to know people in the area and be friendly with them. That person you are paying 35k a month will help you guard and monitor your farm. Promise the person a small percentage of the harvest too. Cheers. |

rafcrown:Thanks, Sir. For the cash crop you want to plant, here are my suggestions. 1. Citrus fruits ( Tangerine, Orange, Shaddock Grapes, Grapes, Tangelo ). 2. Plantain 3. Bitter Kola & Kolanuts 4. Cocoa For optimum results, plant the seedlings yourself. Don't use consultants on this project. Read up on cultivation of the cash crops I have listed above. There is a lot of information online and videos on how to cultivate the crops above. Read widely and gather the information you need. You have one acre, Sir . You can use two plots for citrus plants. If you do your research well, you will get the sweet Orange, tangerine, grape, tangelo seedlings at affordable prices in Oyo State. Just do your research well. Fruits are getting expensive daily . You can also use two plots of land to cultivate Plantain. Plantain will give you quicker money which you will use to buy the Citrus seedlings. Same as Banana. Plant Plantain and Banana on 2 plots of land and use the money you make to buy Citrus seedlings. On the last two plots of land, cultivate bitter Kola or Kolanuts. They bring in a lot of money but it takes time. You will have to be patient, bro. Don't worry about the money you are paying your guard or person who is monitoring your farm. You will regain all the money back. There are so many things you will need to read up on. Cheers. |

rafcrown:This is the right way. Think innovation. Think tech. But it is not for what you described above. The possibility of making money there with tech is low...but tech is the way forward if you want to do agric in 2026.. Redman44:This is a traditional effective way; however, it depends on getting a good person. The question is that is how many are good? This will work years back. Not now. I wouldn't even consider it. Do not get me wrong, it is the best for what the OP described, but the Nigeria of today does not have good people. My recommendation 1. Use the Land to see if you can get a trusted person. 2. Cultivate what you can lose on the land instead of a premium crop or cash crop. 3. Cassava comes to my mind. Do not waste money on it. Buy cheap stems and see if the person you have there will be honest. Mayne on 1 plot only. Do not rush it. Make sure you study the person very well for over a year. 4. You will be shocked that you cant find one person who is honest. 5. If you find one, you don jam jackpot. Hold on to that person and then, you can think of using whatever system and cultivate cash crop or premium crops. The default is that you will lose money on the land and that you cant find a good person. So, use a cheap project you can afford to lose to invalidate the default. But if the default remains intact, dont fight it. Leave it like that and work towards a place close to you. If you cannot, leave agric for now. |
