Some Yorubas supporting Bola despite his underperformance need to understand that they may be damaging the chances of future Yoruba aspirants to the presidency.

Nigerians will not forget the role everyone played during this period. The consequences of today's political decisions may extend beyond Bola himself and affect how Nigerians perceive future Yoruba candidates.

The earlier you understand that Bola's leadership and political ambitions should not be confused with the collective interest of the Yoruba people, the better.

There are sane Yorubas who can see through the deceit and have been speaking out against what they believe is wrong. Unfortunately, many others would rather defend him regardless of the consequences.

Supporting your own should never mean defending underperformance, excusing wrongdoing, or sacrificing the future of an entire region for one man's ambition.

Bola is one individual. The Yoruba people are bigger than any one politician. No one should be allowed to use ethnic loyalty as a shield against accountability.

If you genuinely care about the future of the Yoruba people, speak up when things go wrong. Criticise bad leadership when necessary. Hold those in power accountable.

Don't let loyalty to one man become a burden that future generations of Yoruba presidential aspirants will have to carry.
