Its a merchant bank, so its not the ordinary bank where anyone can open a savings or current account |

JP Morgan want to have access to the wealth of Nigeria , but it will hack the country, after it has seen the wealth and has financed companies which comes with interest payments ![]() Can it all go smoothly, unless how did perform in another African country My conclusion J.P. Morgan's African track record shows a long-standing role in corporate finance and financial markets, particularly in South Africa, alongside newer market-development efforts in Kenya and Côte d’Ivoire. Its African operations should not be judged solely by the number of offices it has opened. If you are evaluating whether it could become a major source of loans for Nigerian businesses, the most useful evidence would be its actual lending activity, interest rates, collateral requirements and the size of businesses it finances. I cannot establish from the available public evidence that its newer African offices have already produced substantial local lending outcomes. |

Good development on the face of it but another side of me asking why is it following rapidly closely with the invitation of US companies to the exploration of our solid minerals resources. |

Over 250 million population is not a joke. The market is plenty but unfortunately Nigerian leaders don't know how to maximize this advantage. That's why Chinese goods flood our market and Nigeria has officially become a consumption state despite our market and strength. Vote wisely |

For smooth transaction, it should be connected to payments in dollars. As a merchant bank, it will only work with the wealthy, Companies and institutions. One obvious benefit: makes it easy for the US companies to work in Nigeria, and they follow the same procedures and regulations as in the USA perhaps GreenCovering: |

A tool of the US State Department. This is in addition to the so-called "consulate" in Lagos that will be their largest in the world. We are not ready for what is coming. |

| Re: CBN Approves JPMorgan’s Merchant Bank In Nigeria by Bizibi(m): 10:41pm On Oct 23 |
SeriouslySense:the last paragraph is the main reason they are here. It is not about the wealthy or institutions here, whatever is happening between Nigeria and the u.s will bring in u.s investors. |

seunmsg:Okoko Wetin you sabi They are not opening branch in Nigeria for people like you to use . merchant bank is a specialized financial institution that provides capital, underwriting, and strategic advisory services to large corporations, private businesses, and high-net-worth individuals, rather than serving the general public. |

Corporations are leaving Nigeria,if you ask Obi and his supporters on Nairaland. Raccoon where are you? JP Morgan just dropped 50B in an economy you people claimed was packing up. Opay is next in line with its IPO. Doomsday politicians! |
| Re: CBN Approves JPMorgan’s Merchant Bank In Nigeria by Ankakh: 11:20pm On Oct 23 |
I can understand why the government will try and market this as a win because when the likes of P&G, Uber and others left Nigeria, they were blamed; but JPMorgan is primarily here for the HNIs. It looks good on the whole macro level, not so much on the micro level. And the real change for the country's economic level happens at the micro level. |

LordBiden:No it's not an achievement to attract #50 billion into the economy. Most especially a wholesale bank that finances industries and projects. How can this be good news? |
