He didn't promote the movie properly. The likes of Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham that are always dancing and doing all sorts of skits to promote their movies understand the game. Movie promotion goes beyond advertisement or trailers. You need to go extra mile to put your work out there these days

At least he spoke the truth unlike funke akindele wey de lie ... Toyin Abraham wey de lie ... the economy of the country can't make anyone make money from the cinemas unlike during the PDP years coupled with not Netflix , content creators, YouTube, tiktok and the rest that serve as alternative entertainment.... Funke will like that she made billion so that people rush to the cinema to wash the movie...using psychology.... as long as the economy is dead... forget what they tell u on paper ... spending power is dead as well.... 95% of Nigerians are on survival mode ... cinema for 5 to 10 k per person no de agenda now ...

If only you stand to advocate for a 'well run economy' that puts PEOPLE at the centre of development, your business will become their business.

Because the only thing prospering today outside government are government contractors and I don't think they are in sufficient numbers to watch your movie onto profit.

You see, my dear man. When an economy tanks....it takes everyone down with it one way or the other.

Godszilla:
Veteran Nollywood actor and filmmaker Jide Kosoko has said he is in debt after his film, Eleko: Oba Esugbayi, failed to recoup its production cost of over N300m in cinemas.

Kosoko disclosed this in a now trending clip from his interview on African A-List published on October 17, where he explained that the money used to produce the film came from investors who expected returns on their investment.

According to him, the film which premiered in the cinemas in March, failed to generate enough revenue to recover its production cost, while the little money earned was shared among those involved.

“My film ‘Eleko: Oba Esugbayi’ that recently came out and we took to the cinemas, cost us over N300 million. Do I have 300 million? You should know that some people gave it to me and it was not that they dashed me, they invested in it and we took the film to the cinemas,” he said.

He added, “Different things happened and we did not earn our money back. The little that was earned was split. As I am, if you hear someone with debt dancing around their neck, it is me.”

PUNCH Online had earlier reported that Kosoko revealed he had been living with diabetes since 1996, saying his decades-long experience with the condition had given him a better understanding of his health.

“I became diabetic in 1996; I understand my health better than some doctors do. Do not misquote me. I am not saying I know how to do everything, I just do not want to die,” Kosoko said.

He also spoke about his personal life, disclosing that he had lost three wives, including the mother of his daughter, Bidemi Kosoko, who died during childbirth.

“I lost my wife during childbirth; that’s Bidemi’s mother. I have lost three wives,” he said.

Again you must add politics. Your brand of politics of hatred will not survive this generation. We know when your candidate loses the election you will still come here to wine. You have a right to support your own party, he also has that same right as well , how is that too hard for you to understand?

Unwise man. You wan produce movie of 300m, you go produce yoruba movie(I am not being tribalistic). A movie restricted to one tribe will never sell as much as the one in English that anyone (all tribe) can see. Learn from Funke Akindele.
You have a myopic view on this subject. There are so many non English language movies, series that have done well.

True, movies won’t sell now. Nigerians don’t have cash to spare, at best put on YouTube. When an economy is bad, it usually have round effect. Ordinarily that movie should have sold much more since March!

It's people that have overflow of cash that go to Cinema. People that are managing life what are they going to do there. That is the result of bad policy. Before now, people can flex any how.
Well, it's your constitutional right to back any party or politician but it is an hypocrite to be dying in silence when you know the source of your predicament. Nonsense!

Thats what alot fail to understand.... if an average person can only visit the cinema one a year ... then there's a serious economic problem.... as u rightly said ... its cheaper to put data 2k , and watch like 10 movies on YouTube and Netflix ...than to spend money on transportation thats very expensive compared to b4 ...then spending on the cinema ticket ...all will cost about 15 to 20k , plus transport.... if u are on a date , thats an extra 5 to 10k ... I will rather invite the date to my house to Netflix and chill... which is far cheaper .... most Nigerians are using their money to feed and take care of groceries first ...which is very expensive these days .... cinema is not a priority again... will rather use that money to go the beach , which is even cheaper

As long as there's another option for visual entertainment... then the cinema industry is cooked

Lots like you are those who forget your many tantrums online to vote a wrong candidate on election day because of crumbs. I judge based on performance not any political association, so I say it the way I know it not based on any affiliation or association. If you're partisan, that's your problem not me and it will never happen, so stop thinking we're all delusional.

I'm sure with that kind of budget, they would have produced something worthwhile but there's the A-factor missing. Next time, he should tap into the connect if dem Afolayan, Toyin Abraham, Funke and coy cuz those ones seems to always do fantastic at the screens

Cinema films not easy at all. Baba should have give the film to one of his daughters, due to they still young, they will market it well with vibes. Or even sell it to someone like funke, toyin, odun or femi.
