9jatriot:U dont get it.. we have been paying tax, we have oil, we have gas, we have gold, we have lithium, we have a lot, agric lands, water, endless water, endless lands, we have a lot that most of these countries dont have and we have been paying tax. Like I said, income tax is just an aspect of tax. My strongest argument is collecting huge sum of money from me who earns from another country. I am very interested in this. What has Nigeria govt provided for me to take up to 24 percent of my income which came from another country? Nigeria couldnt secure a job for me. Neither do I have it easy as a Nigerian to secure gigs online. Nigeria practically provided nothing so, taking up to 24 percent of my sweat as income tax after payiing VAT for that same income is rubbish, why? I provide my own water, provide electricity, pay for estate security, use private health facilities becus even our politcians cant use our public hospitals. I narrated how an uncle of mine died becus 3 hospitals they rushed him to had no bed space. Govt schools are wack. Dont forget, govt already makes a lot from me via VAT, and other taxes they collect such as levies and everyything such as driver's lincense, international passport, etc are all paid for. None is free. So, bro, can u tell me why I should give Nigerian govt up to 24% if income I generated outside Nigeria when the ones I pay here cant provide me basic amenities? |

There is nothing here to get. This natural resources that you are claiming we have is what every leader on the outside assumes we have, and as such we should be rich, only to get to power and discover that Nigeria is not a rich country for our population. That is why I when you mentioned Qatar, I told you that they produce 1.8M barrel of oil but they are only 3.7M population. Nigeria recently started producing up to 1.8M barrel, and for comparison, we are 250M people. It is like saying 2 families earn 250k per month and should have the same standard of living without asking how many mouth each of them is feeding both at home and other dependencies. With regards to earning abroad and paying tax in Nigeria, then it means you do not know how tax works. Tax is paid to state/ country oof residence. And for your information, if you are a citizen of US, you are expected to pay tax to the USA even if you do not stay in the US. What that means is that, if you are a citizen of US, you will pay tax in Nigeria and stll pay tax in the US. A Nigerian staying in the US does not have to pay tax in Nigeria but as long as you stay in Nigeria, you are to pay tax, that is how it is done everywhere else in the world. You keep saying you provide this your povide that, I have told you that paying tax does not mean you will not pay for those things. You want to tell me that if the natonal grid goes down you do not care? If it affects you then you do not 100% provide power for yourself. Estate security like I told you is a choice, in fact, is it those boys that if they steal your car you will go and report to? It is still the police you will depend on. You said you went to 3 hospital and they were filled up, what does that tell you? It means that as wack as you claim they are, they are people who get saved in those hospitals. If not you would have met empty bed spaces. There are many reasons why politicians do not use Nigerian hospitals; one of them is privacy. They do not want their pictures being splashed on the internet. Many of them invite the doctors to their house for treatment that are not too serious. Nigerian doctors, for your info. In a nutshell, the money we earn is very small compared to our population. Princedapace: |

9jatriot:So, since we earn small, why do we spend billions to care for politicians like oil rich countries? My babe's phone was stollen, police couldnt help me. My aunt lost 2m, police asked us to pay 50k for tracking. I can mention endless list of failed system here. The guy who fixes my generator, his house got burt down, no fire service. Every occupant there lost everything. If u need emergency in health and security, u cant get any. If govt had working systems, I dont need to install solar. I closed two businesses because I couldnt fund fueling for the two businesses, my family house, my car. I was drained. But in all of these, we spend billions to feed one man. As a poor country, should we be doing that? I hate it when people make mumu excuses for these useless politicians. Now, recently 15billion was budgeted for 39 SUV for empowerment mobility. Like tell me why a poor country would be spending over 300million on SUV for mobility? That is big shit that rich countries do. Do u get me? Our politicians spend like we are rich, then want me to live like a church rat, no way. Never! We have more than enough, our gas alone when harnessed can fund a lot. Our agricultural land can feed us. We have water, Egypt is fighting over water source yet, her citizens have access to water than us who dig bore hole. So, tell me another story. Nigerian farmers arent supposed to cry over water. But that is the story. All our politicians do is waste money. Imagine the contract spent awarded to one man for pipe line security. Tell me, does that make sense? We know how such contracts go na. I can go on and on. As a poor country, our politicians should drive Tokumbo SUV, lexus Tokumbo 2017 model is fine for mobility, it wont cost more than 25m. But no, they will go for 350million worth of SUV from abroad, then cut of subsidy, borrow in my name, force me to pay all type of taxes yet expect me to provide my own electricity, water, security, healthcare, quality education, then tel me govt is broke to do anything for me in return. NEVER! Fraud! |

Jeez, amost everyone around you seems to have one form of misfortune or the other. You keep bringing up politicians as it I am defending them. Those politicians just like you believe the country is rich and want to get their share. You and them have the same mindset. You want me to give you a long list of things police even in the UKK and US could not solve. Something as simple as a package delivered, signed for by someone else and no trace of it by the real owner. You claim you provide your own security, but when you wanted to do something serious, who did you go to? Wasn't it the same police paid from the tax you claim you don't want to pay? On solar panel, you really make me laugh.... Google how much investment in solar in the US. California, Texas, Florida, and Massachusetts are among the most solar-friendly and high-producing states in the U.S, you want to tell me it is because they do not have NEPA? I have told you before, SUV expense is a small expense that does not move the needle. On pipeline, I guess you mean Tantita Security,, the company owned by Tompollo, even though I was against it initially against it also, but Buhari tried to phase him out and use the Navy, but those guys instaed of protecting the pipeline were now believed of stealing from the crude they were meant to protect. I watched Tantita Security, documentary one day and they say it is a fully fledged company with advanced technology to track and monitor the pipelines. I know how hard it is to swallow, but that we can do 1.8 million barrel today from around 1.1M is partly because of Tantita Security,. Sometimes you have to swallow your pride and do what works. If you were a governor, would you agree to drive a Tokumbo car? Be realistic. Princedapace: |

9jatriot:Making excuses for useless politicians. To answer your last question. So, why should a poor country waste money like we do then turn around and claim we are poor and wants to tax the hell out of my life? U said they wanted to use Navy and couldnt because they were stealing. So, why should I pay for the inefficiency of govt? Govt said subsidy was riddled with corruption, so why should ordinary Nigerians pay for the inability of govt to fix corruption? If a company declare that it lost money to tax masters but the same company bought luxury cars worth 400million for the company owner, will tax agency accept that? Answer me first. How can a poor country be buying cars worth 400 million for mobility? I am not talking about governor car sef. That one is not mentioned. Go and read about the 15billion budget for 39 SUV inside 1trillion empowerment scheme ![]() You make comments like we are all id$ots here. Like we dont know how Nigeria is managed. They will buy street light and claim they bought it for 500million. That is what eats up the money. Imagine such rascadity multiplied by 20 thounsand instances. That is exactly how they finish the money then tell me to pay more tax. I want to give u a pure instance. Look at DRC, a very resource rich country but has some of the poorest people in the world just like Nigeria, among the countries wih least electricity acess for her citizens. Now, do u want to tell me that if DRC increases income tax to 50% that will automatically make DRC a developed nation? Some of u talk trash. When u talk, think. Nigeria's problem is not lack of money, it is looting, wastage and extravagant lifestyle that never ever prioritize investment into stuff that can make Nigeria great, along with useless system of govt. So, why should I pay for such uselessness caused by politicians while they enjoy? No, I am not patriotic, I will never be. There is nothing special about politicians. As leaders, they should suffer what we are suffering. That is how leadership supposed to be. A poor country will spend billions on conference center but wont spend such on health sector, tell me what is that supposed to mean? A poor country will spend less on health sector but spend more on feeding governor, president, minister, etc. That is rubbish. A poor country will spend less on education but spend more on budget for national assembly, who are u fo$ling? A poor country will on security for the governor more than the entire state. You are practically saying the masses give up their resources, work their ass out to pay various tax so that Nigerian politicians can live the life of their dreams, no let me swear for u, bros. Until Nigeria makes corruption and wastage capital offence, and reduce the expenses on the lifestyle and packages for politicians while investing in health, and education, I will never ever support the useless country. The country was designed for the masses to work for the politicians and that cant be me. It is like u dont see the deliberate tactics of politicians to keep this country down. Why waste money on few humans when the entire country is supposed to be poor? That is the key! Politciians cant be living like oil rich country while citizens are told to live like poor african nation. |

Princedapace:People just spew nonsense all the time out of ignorance and unfounded emotions I expect you research and tell us the Federal and State budgets for Health, Education, infrastructure etc, compare it actual spend and the effectiveness of such capital expenditures, rather than comparing one conference center cost to health, education etc. Abeg make una stop all this illiteracy of nonsense in this 21st century |

sunnyprof:You are talking trash. Why should a poor country be spending billions to feed one man when her health sector can't provide ordinary ventilator that could have saved the life of a young man? Our healthcare sector is super under funded. As a poor country, why should luxury car for politicians empowerment mobility be spent on? Tell me Baba. If I declare that I didn't make profit as a company but bought luxury car for my self as owner, will tax agency forgive me? https://www.nairaland.com/8771963/dayo-israel-presents-2026-prado This is example of wastage. Tell me where they see money for all these ? What is their source of income? What global products have they produced to afford such cars? Nigeria is one of the most corrupt countries on earth for a reason. Oga, no dey talk trash here. We aren't f&polish. There is a reason it is poverty capital of the world while her politicians are building estates in other countries. |

9jatriot:I have been paying tax since ![]() Every f&cking Nigeria pay one form of tax or the other. My father paid until he retired and till paying till now. So WTF are U saying? In those countries I mentioned, do their politicians loot their tax ? Or do their politicians spend billions of tax payers money to feed politicians while their citizens suffer ? Answer me |
| Re: Nigerian Lecturer Destroys Tinubu's Poster In Lagos (Video) by 9jatriot(m): 8:24am On Oct 26 |
Even when I want to leave you keep drawing me back to this conversation. My answer is simple. You and those politicians think alike, you both believe that Nigeria is very rich and they believe they can steal from it while you think you do not need to pay income tax. Many of you think that because they are white, that they are saints. All over the world, people accused their leaders of insensitivity, fraud, embezzlement and financial recklessness. From France, Spain, US, and many other top world countries, the accusation is the same. The reason I focus on our revenue aspect of Nigeria and not politicians is because I hate to be seen as defending politicians when all I want to do is to draw your attention to the fact that Nigeria is not as rich as you and those same politicians think it is. Anyway, read below, this is just for the US: Please it is Monday morning, I believe I have indulged you enough Ted Stevens (Republican, Alaska):• The Accusation: Indicted in 2008 on federal charges of failing to report gifts and making false disclosure statements. 9jatriot:If Nigeria is poor, then politicians should be made to stop living in luxury. So, I am not intereted in income tax for a country where her first lady with no known global product that is multi million dollars give out donation anyhow in billions. The politicians live in largess. No, if Nigeria is poor, these guys wont be seeing billions to waste in cars. Paying my sweat to them is deservice to my self. |

Gotocourt:Exactly. I am bothered that even the opposition have failed to address that elephant in the room. Pegging the naira to #800 to a dollar will transform this country. What the government needs to do is eliminate the corruption in it and ensuring that every political office holder is bounded by the same reform policies. |
