Na skool you know go or na English dey hard you? I just gave you a vivid description of what a fruit is and you dey hear dey ask underage questions. You dey harvest yam from flowers or from tubers underground?

Bean pods = Fruit (This is the part that houses the bean)

Beans seed = The seed inside the bean pod, which is what we cook and eat. Same thing applies to rice.

When dem harvest beans newly, you no dey see that green flower, wey dey cover the white beans? That thing na fruit, na the seed of the thing we dey cook chop.

The beans we eat is a seed just like a mango seed. The bean pod which houses the bean seed we eat is a fruit.

Omo, for me na pawpaw (papaya). I just can't stand the smell, let alone the taste; the thing dey always smell like wet cardboard to me, but everybody else around me seems to love it like it's the best thing on earth.

Yes, l did, l even tried to eat it with several other stuff to force myself to like and eat it but it doesn't go well with my taste bud, so l try to avoid it anywhere l see it

According to botany (the study of plants) , a fruit is the part of a flowering plant, that develops from the flower's ovary, and in most cases contains seed. That perfectly fits the description of a cucumber, I no remember where I tell you say carrots na fruit.

It has to be ripe, and harvested same day. From the next day,I don't appreciate it anymore. That is why I only enjoy it when I visit village. The ones we see in cities spend days on the road and sun. I don't fancy those types

I guess it is because Guava as a fruit is gradually becoming extinct in Nigeria. Most homes in Nigeria don't have Guava again. Guava has many varieties and I am seriously working on reviving many guava species in Nigeria. I am into Horticulture 🙏.

For security reasons, my uncle had to have the one right infront of our village house cut down, because it was already fruiting and attracting pluckers.
Organic one at that.
It pained me sha.

(I'm surprised it grew wildly, and fruited within 3 years)

My dad planted about five different guava species in his compound and they were all organic species. They lasted for more than 25 years in that compound. The guava species I am seeing around are not hardy at all. Yes, guava can fruit in three years. Other species fruit in 5-7 years but they are all organic. I am working on bringing back at least 10 species of guava into peoples homes in Southwestern Nigeria 🙏.
