Did you check the cable(s) as suggested by the other person. The manual wouldn't tell you most things. And a loosened cable can make an inverter or anything see lower voltage.

I signOut
The installer check it it o, and I was even particular about it but he said the cables are fine. Though, I’m suspecting he used inferior cables for the connections because he was the one that initially installed the set up but I don’t wanna accuse wrongly

Happy Sunday everyone
This is my 2.5kVA inverter, but the screen has developed ink spots, and I’m afraid they might spread to the point where I won’t be able to take readings. Is there an external device I can buy to monitor the inverter’s activity?

why not first ask a repairER what it would cost to get it FIXed. When you get that figure, wait till it's bad enough.

Most of these external displays are costly + not universal + the capacity wouldn't be worth the extra costs in my own opinion
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by anna081: 2:34pm On Oct 25
Have actually called them they said they can't repair it the part is not available
Plus I don't know when it will spread to the end , hence why am trying to find alternative ahead

Thank you, the installer came and checked everything out and he was able to get the inverter to start charging the battery via grid and PV, though the charging from the grid has been relatively slow. It is currently at 37%. The issue now is that, it is becoming a recurring thing because this is the second time it is happening in 3weeks. I can’t say for sure if it had anything to do with the extra panel I added to the existing 535 watt I was using (585 watt). I have installed it about 2 months ago. Now could it be the reason for the low voltage or the reason why the battery loses connection to the inverter? This has only happened in the morning( I mean both times the inverter shut down)
I doubt the new panel is the cause. An extra panel only adds charging power during the day. It can't make the battery cut out overnight or first thing in the morning.

The morning timing is the clue. The battery is at its lowest after the night, and when the first loads come on its voltage dips. If that dip hits the inverter's low-battery cut-off, it shuts down even with 25% showing, which matches the "battery voltage too low" error in your manual.

So whoever looks at it next should check three things:
1. The inverter's battery type and cut-off settings match your lithium battery, not lead-acid defaults.
2. The battery and inverter are actually communicating (the BMS cable and the comms setting on the inverter).
3. The voltage at the inverter terminals against the voltage at the battery while something is running. A big difference between the two points straight at the cables.

Hello bosses please how is this battery…I know it’s an average battery but is it still solid like the likes of itel…I need to replace my mums tubular batteries this December a d I’m about to start a pay small small plan for it…..Please I need to your responses ASAP….
The label adds up: 12.8V x 200Ah is 2.56kWh, so that's a proper 200Ah lithium battery on paper.

Before you commit for your mum, check two things:
1. Her inverter's voltage. This is a 12V battery, so it only goes straight onto a 12V inverter. If her tubulars are wired as 24V (two in series), she'd need two of these, or a 24V battery.
2. Her inverter can charge lithium. Many older inverters were set up for tubular batteries only. Look for a lithium or "user" battery setting in the menu or manual.

On backup time: you should only use about half of a tubular battery's capacity, but most of a lithium one. So one of these gives roughly the usable backup of two 200Ah tubulars.

Paying small small is fine if the total is close to the cash price and the warranty is honoured by Taico or an authorised dealer. Get the warranty terms written on the receipt.

If the screen can't be repaired, two options:
1. Check if your inverter has a WiFi or monitoring port (often marked WiFi, RS232 or USB). Many inverters can take a small WiFi dongle from the same brand that shows everything in a phone app. Your manual should say if yours supports it.
2. Fit a battery monitor with a shunt on the battery cables. It has its own small screen and shows battery voltage, current and percentage, whatever happens to the inverter display. It works with any inverter.

Meanwhile, take photos of all the settings menus while you can still read them, so you have them if the screen gets worse.

I know all these sir…her inverter is actually a transformer based but I installed with panels and Mppt cc…Its a 12v system and she only uses 43ibches tv of 75w and fan and lightnings…I want to change the tubular because I used them for 3 years and she has used them for another 2.5years so they don’t really hold charge again….i just wana know if the battery is really okay and they use grade A cell as they advertised…i would have gone for itel but they don’t have 200ah 12v

the brand is luminous…..u are right about old people not maintaining….i used to refill the water every 4 months when i go to her place but I travelled last year for a year plus and my brother who was supposed to change the water used ordinary water instead of distilled that was there…I got to know when I returned and realized the distilled water was still thesame quantity I left it..I was mad but it is what it is…hence my decision to get lithium

Although it will be way cheaper outside of Cd care. If you can buy directly from cworth.

IsaKielEnergy:
Buying where there's a real service centre is a good rule, because a warranty is only worth something if someone in Nigeria will honour it. For a less known brand, a few checks help:

1. Ask for the cell type and grade in writing (for example LiFePO4, Grade A), plus the BMS current rating.
2. Do the maths on the label. 12.8V x 200Ah is about 2.5kWh, so a "2.5kWh 12V" battery should be 200Ah. If the price looks too good, the cells may be smaller than the label says.
3. Test it at home in the first week. Charge it full, run a steady load you can see on the inverter display (most show the watts), and time how long it lasts. A genuine 2.5kWh battery should run a steady 100W for close to 20 hours. If it dies after 10, the capacity isn't what the label says, so take it back while you still can.
4. Get the warranty terms and the seller's address on the receipt.

None of this guarantees a battery, but it catches the worst fakes early.
You write/sound so much like AI...lol

For the shunt battery monitor can you recommend one with good accuracy.

Get Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery.
Buy the Cells and couple yourself (if you have the knowledge and like DIY).
Or ask Mr. Reed or Valto to help you couple one that fits our need.

They are Cost-effective, save yourself (and your Mum), the Stress.

YES but mostly depends on the inverter and the kind of BMS used on the lithium battery.

That a battery is DIY especially Lithium doesn't make it any less of a good or bad battery because a mostly COUPLE dem couple am by purchasing the necessary parts.
Thank you very much.....
It is a MUst inverter and battery from mr Reed and it is definitely using the jk bms

Sorry for the late reply. For accuracy, Victron is the brand most installers trust. Their SmartShunt reads on your phone over Bluetooth and the BMV-712 has its own screen, but both are pricey. A cheaper option a lot of people use is the Junctek KG-F series, which has its own small display.

Get one rated well above what your inverter pulls from the battery. For a 2.5kVA, a 300A or 400A one gives you room. Once it's fitted, enter your battery size in the settings and let the battery reach full charge once, so the percentage reads properly from then on.
