DPM should be introduced after sand-filling the foundation as a whole. Not only the external block. Introducing DPM to the external blocks is just cutting corners. The structure is still at risk from rising damp.

Burying pipe network in foundations is just lazy architecture for all structure. This is never a recommended civil engineering practice. If there is a blockage, finding the blockage point and accessing the blockage is a huge and expensive challenge. Pipe network should be accessible for maintenance.

The first picture is showing the soil pipes being embedded inside it before casting of the German floor, to me, it's the best way to go about it.

The second picture is showing how to properly lay DPM, it should be laid on every part of the foundation, DPM material varies too, I used very thick polythene here, Bituminous felt, asphalt, and other materials can be used.

The second picture is just a another way to double proof it, like a 2 factor authentication,.if you look closely, you will see a thick black waterproof leather under the wall.

I always like to comment under DPC topic because in this dispensation, dampness in a building shouldn't be our issue again, we ought to have totally overcome it as a nation.

Building a bungalow to finish will take close to 2 and half months and when you factor his wages a month to your plan, you will notice the money sound big with no value.
Most times, the engineer will be on the site for over 9hrs Monday - Saturday!

I heard of pouring chemicals for termite and other insects into the sand during foundation sand-filling, is it normal practice to do so.

If yes, can you recommend the name of chemicals to deploy, and qty/vol per sqm... Is it best injected or simply sprayed b4 dpm?..

Am thinking the DPM will also serve as a barrier for insects.. making the chemical application not necessary anymore

The earlier members where closely knitted and the topics discussed while centering on building construction, there was a touch of personal engagements and familiarity.
