Technologies That Will Disappear By 2030 (Photos) by Great100000(op): 7:00am On Nov 01
Some everyday tech could feel surprisingly outdated by 2030 👀

Think typing passwords, carrying plastic cards, or searching for the TV remote. This carousel explores how alternatives could change those familiar habits.

The bigger question is how quickly people will switch, and whether the replacements are affordable, reliable, and actually more convenient.

These are possibilities, not guaranteed expiry dates. Useful technology can stick around long after something newer arrives.

Which one would you happily give up, and which would you keep?

All of it will still stick with the third world 🌎 countries.

Same as button mobile device is still here...

Not because of anything but because of limited experience and affordability and technical know how.

I wouldn't say Disappear tho.

1. Cables, especially for critical server infrastructure in a LAN are still preferred, especially because of security over wireless.

2. Passwords, will always still remain. You're assuming that all devices would have have the capability to process biometric information. Even if yes, most of the population won't be able to afford it.

3. Physical Credit cards, will be insisted on by most people sef, over digital wallets. The way cyber security threats will explode in the coming years, man people's distrust for digital wallet (security wise) will decline - see the case of Binance $6.3billion hack.

4. Hardrives for local storage are not going anywhere yet o as primary storage. Internet is not looking like it'll get dirt cheap anytime soon. Cloud storage requires high bandwidth and speed.

The objections to most of the points is just as the guy above me said. Many of these technologies will still be prominent in Third world countries and underdeveloped economies across the world.

Re: Technologies That Will Disappear By 2030 (Photos) by 1gbdata: 1:43pm On Nov 03
I think the interesting part is not that these things will vanish completely, but that they will become optional. Passwords are a good example: many of us already use face or fingerprint unlock, yet passwords remain as a fallback for older devices and accounts. The same will likely happen with cables and physical cards. In Nigeria especially, adoption will be uneven because cost, network coverage and access to newer devices still matter a lot. So by 2030, I expect a split: newer tech in cities and offices, while older tech remains practical and necessary in many other places.

There are police stations in Nigeria that don't have computers

All cases and exhibits are still being recorded manually and rats have destroyed most records and evidences
Some evidences have been stolen

They purposely keep it that way so as not to be accountable...

Very accurate, the world will shrink so much that people will have an overload of unnecessary things

Let me show you a comment that is shocking but true. 👇

Carol makes a very insightful point about how in this age of "constant comunication" we think we know more people, but in fact actually we know them less. We spend less time connecting with each other in person because we think the internet can replace that, but it can't. So all we are really seeing is words someone has typed, not the individual themselves and we don't really have a clue about how that person is feeling, what they are really thinking etc. We miss all the vital signs that we might otherwise see in person and tragedies like this can happen.
I am sad that I go to a restaurant and they think that a QR code is better for me than seeing the book. The more we think we develop, the more we advance in nothing.

We have always been decades behind our counterparts in resource-rich countries when it comes to technological advancement, and I honestly don't see that changing anytime soon unless we take deliberate steps to address it. We need bold policy reforms, greater investment in technology and innovation, and, most importantly, the political will to implement these changes. I believe we can bridge this gap, but we have to be intentional about it. We cannot continue doing things the same way and expect different results.

I tried the pingverse.tv experience and it was pretty good! I don’t think it’s available in African countries / markets yet and only in select countries but a social entertainment steaming tv provided options traditional cable and TV simply cannot match! As the content library grows, most traditional cable and tv will have to move to those platforms. Imagine not having to split expenses between data subscriptions + cable / dstv subscription but get to watch a larger and expanding selection of entertainment movies + games on demand and sit back (no need to scroll) modes? Even expensive PS5+ and Xbox games will have to change and find a new form factor to appeal to new users. What do you guys think? Do a lot of people in Nigeria generally use streaming services (Netflix, Disney+, etc) or traditional tv?

Binance just got hacked. Sorry, no thanks. I want to keep my receipt and lose it for my own records. I don't want a third party to have a business with my business. Have you seen how people talk about the hostage taking of Microsoft?

It's happening to our vehicles now. Things that used to be free are now what we pay for. I remember Elon Musk wanted to remove AM radio because the waves affected electric cars. The US had to pass a law to prevent it because the AM radio was for public service, for free and it was for our benefit to let us all know about some information. You will have less control of yourself with these tech.

It's more like the funding that would be required to automate all the records is very very high. Unless you want government to borrow hundreds of billions of naira to pay for that, e no possible

Also, you need supporting infrastructure...which means widespread internet connectivity, intranet if need be, constant power supply, and so on and so forth.

Rememebr a lot of police stations are in the rural areas. Many rural areas don't have common banks or things like that.

You also need an extensive database of all nigerians, and decent criminal databases, which need things like constant power supply, and decent IT services.

NIgeria is not at the level to allow for a truly national automation of the nigeria police force...same thing for when state police comes on line.

It's not just because police want to be corrupt. American police has issues with corruption and abuses even with all the automation and comptuers

Re: Technologies That Will Disappear By 2030 (Photos) by DickenClarq(f): 2:01pm On Nov 03
In Africa many of this technologies will be active and working till 2050.

I saw someone using Panasonic TV of 2004 with DVD player in his sitting room, I was speechless.

They are people who still use Strong Satellite decoder of 2006 in their home in Nigeria.

I like the way African are so slow in technological shift, it will save us a lot when this A.i robots starts attacking human. My problem are this Fake life Lagos big boss who like to buy or bring anything into Nigeria just for show off.

May God help us

Who is going to WORK for the bold policy reforms? Who will drive the reform?

Why invest more in technology and innovation, if you are not investing enough to employ well paid professional teachers for the free primary and secondary education of all children huh
