This is my reply in another thread, dealing with the same issue. I think because it's long, it can start a thread.

Jehovah Witnesses after very long years of not allowing members to accept blood transfusion, recently announced that members can now accept blood, but not the full blood though, but blood components.
To me, it's a cunning way of correcting an agelong error that has made lots of believers lose their lives.
Why not come out in the open and say we are sorry, we now realised that our decision for ages was an error.

Blood is blood,
wether components, part or full.

The problem of the leadership of the Watchtower is that they are ashamed to announce that after all these years that infants who needed blood, adults who needed blood were denied and they died, blood transfusion is now permitted.

People will ask them, why allow thousands of innocent people both old and young die just like dat.

Imagine a food seller caught putting poopoo in the cooking pot of her restaurant for spiritual money making. And in defending herself, she's telling everyone that it is not really poopoo, it is the components of poopoo. (Just the water extracted from poopoo.)

Overly righteousness is the major problem of the JW. And the Bible forbids it.
They believe more in works than grace.
And these makes them believe other Christians are not worshipping the living God, Jehovah.

They believe because they formed a name "Jehovah Witnesses" with the name of God, JEHOVAH, they alone own that name.
A people full of vanity pride.

Birthday is bad
Christmas is bad
Easter is not good

Attributing all to idol worship.

Civilization started in Egypt, so are a lot of the things the whole world do today. Although, many have been modernised. Were the Egyptians then Christians? Were they worshipping Yaweh? They were idol worshipers.
But today we use virtually all the things these idol worshipers invented.
Does that make us idol worshipers?


With JW, only their own doings is good. Their yearly convention where communion is served for only heavenly candidates is good. Jesus christ said do this often, not yearly. And not only for a section of the congregation but all. Communion is for all that are genuinely Christians.

Mind you, I love Jehovah Witnesses. My childhood friends who happens to be my best friend is an elder in JW. And we still remain best friends.

Was there any corrections in the first century among Christians?
If there was please what makes you feel modern day Christians shouldn't make any corrections if there is a need?
Well blood components totally differs from whole blood and for your information millions of JWs won't still accept either of the two.
Why?
Because if all the available alternatives fails surely there is no components that can save the patient.
God never condemn the eating of eggs but Israelites were told not to eat animals that aren't bled properly. And let me remind you that egg contains few blood components that can help boost human blood. So we realized that while the whole blood is not good for our body it's components could be useful!

Started doing exhibitions together from the age of 14, travelled to Gambia together in our early 20s, lived in Gambia for years, travelled to another country where we are now together, still holding exhibitions together.

If a JW could call the church a cult and you read it and did not react to it. It shouldn't be when I retaliated and showed the more reasons why JW is more of a cult that you should be gnashing your teeth.

I told this guy my b3st friend is not just a JW but one of their elders and this guy is pained. He sees it as an impossible thing, claiming that I am the one who sees my friend as best friend that he may not see me as such.

So you don't have to come and preach humanity here when all what you see in religious people is foolishness.

For your information once you're not a JW i must love you as my neighbor so whatever you choose to be: Atheist, Buddhist, Judaist, Traditionalist or any other doesn't make me judge or hate you but close bonds only exists between my brothers and i.

For neighbors Jesus said we must love you as we love ourselves {Mark 12:31} this law has been given to the Israelites thousands of years before the birth of Jesus {Leviticus 19:18} so the Israelites knew it.

But

For fellow believers Jesus gave us a NEW COMMANDMENT:

"I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, you also love one another..By this all will know that you are my disciples—if you have love among yourselves.” John 13:34-35

So the love i have for all my neighbors no matter their religion or background is what i must have for you but for Jehovah's Witnesses ọmọ it goes beyond that o!

For instance if i travel to any country throughout the world today i become a stranger instantly once i have no relatives or friends there but where JWs are no matter the tribe or race ọmọ i'm home.

WHY?

Because of the love Jesus said we must have among ourselves.

You can be scared of strangers just as i would also be but once i found out that he or she is one of Jehovah's Witnesses i must put my life on the line to house him just as Jesus put his life on the line to save his disciples.
