queendynamite: Hi every one, after my nysc 2011, I registered with NISP @ ikeja to obtain Hse 2&3 certifications which was successful. Before I started the program, I learn that, by the time you get through with d program, they will assign u to oil company, construction company, and other reputable company to work with but, when I got through with my friends, we realize that, they don't offer any job but rather promising!!!! Why??

I guess dey just wanted u guess †̥ enroll wif dem. Pls how much wad Hse 2 nd 3? Nd is company running d program gud? Pls reply

You can go into the safety profession with any degree.the most important thing is the certifications.it matters d most inrespective of what you studied in the university
You can start with NISP certifications,den IOSH Managing Safely.
The most sought after is the Nebosh IGC but its quite expensive

Hello all. Am so glad I found this tgread.

I am a telecoms engineer and have been practicing for 5 years but now I want to diversify into HSE but the problem is its so wide I don't know where to start from.. I would be greatful if I can get how to go about it the best types of certs to do.. if its something I can read myself and do the exam online or if I need to attend lectures. .. also I want exams that I can use outside the country.

It stands for Nigeria Institute of Safety Professionals.
They have training centers all over nigeria.

I graduated as a microbiologist and currently serving in ogun state wit the batch B 2013 that just left camp, while in camp many institute came to talk on PMP and HSE. I can remember one particular one called pro-grade www.pro-grade.org they are offering the courses @ a very low cost for corp members, my question is that do any1 knw abt pro-grade and hw reputable is their cert? Plz I need to knw ASAP cos I intend to pay very soon for HSE. And its a distant learning program dey send U the materials U study on ur own and go for th exams, is it advisable to take such program? Tanks in advance for ur response

diehard: @ Ms_Janie, No you're not right with your conclusions. Most company will not employ you without some sort of cert and experience. The field of HSE is becoming more competitive and more persons are getting certificates and experience along the way. I know of a friend who lost a job opportunity (worth 700K/month) with all his qualifications and experience on the grounds of not having BOSIET certificate (This certificate is for those working offshore and need water survival training). So, if you don't have experience to back up your job search, then get the certifications. hope that helps

Hello Diehard. I have been following this thread for a while (though I do not comment much) and I know u as one of the people that have consistently contributed immensely. Nice one, pls keep it up!

I find your post very inspiring. I studied Envt Biology and Envt Mangt. for my Bsc and MSc respectively. And I have done a number of HSE certificate courses. But unfortunately, I have not been able to get any experience in HSE but have been hooked to my Customer Service function for some years now. Thank you for your inspiring post. I will continue training myself in this field that I find so interesting till I finally get an offer.

Now Engineering graduates are referred to do General HSE n then Comp Level 3.

Shell Petroleum Development Company(SPDC) is organizing an Advanced HSE level 3 training in Lagos, PH and Abuja this month. Saw it in The Guardian Newspaper of 30th July, 2013. Would like to verify this please. Is it scam?? How genuine is this? How recognized would the certificate be? Thanks a lot guys....

NOTE: Its not free as it different from manuals they give in training centers but is the textbook by NEBOSH which is very expensive to get. It covers how they set questions and how they mark also for you to get your IGC with a distinction.

I wonder why people always want to make money from rendering help...well I got all nebosh materials from someone in this group for FREE..and made a distinction..I didn't have to pay a dime for d materials..please there certain things that one should be happy to give out without attaching any cost to it..
