The Nigerian situation is pathetic, and saddening, How did we get to this point? I sometimes wonder how we live with ourselves. Everyday we keep hearing the same old news of problems here and there, with no improvements In sight, if it's not boko haram killing soldiers, it would be soldiers killing boko haram, or pdp accusing apc or apc accusing pdp, is this how we are supposed to continue living? Nigerians live in denial every single day, we see our problems increasing but we seem not to care, just the other day, I heard an isreali diplomat calling places in the world that are over run by bombings and terrorism, he actually likened abuja to baghdad and co. When I heard him say this on Al jazeera I nearly cried for my country, because few years ago, I was watching the same Al jazeera and I saw bomb blast in baghdad and I was like " thank God say Nigeria no go fit be like this ooo" but today we understand what it means to live in a society where any time you are in a crowded place the thought of a bomb going off goes through your mind steadily, how did we get to this current situation? Anytime you watch the news you get sad, it's either you see and hear clueless Nigerian leaders making Ignorant statements on how to handle the current situation in the country,And with the unfortunate request from our president for an external loan of one billion dollars to buy military equipment to fight boko haram, I know that our situation seems to be hopeless, na now dem won buy weapons? how many people will have to die before the loan is granted, or how many properties would have to be destroyed before the weapons are even brought to the country, how long will it take before the army are taught on how to use these new weapons? How sure are we that Osama bin laden's son, abubakar shekau will not come and collect the new weapons that will be bought? How sure are we that chinese weapons will not be bought? We are faced with many uncertainties, but as is usual with us Nigerians, we are non chalant. The sad truth is the situation in Nigeria is worsening, is it the health sector? Let's not go there, or is it the educational sector? Nigerians, we have to be pro active, we have to learn to hold our leaders accountable, our problem in Nigeria is leadership, nothing more nothing less, if we had good leaders the Nigerian situation wouldn't have deteriorated to this extent. Nigerians are looked on with disdain in different parts of the world, the other day I heard someone making a joke that, the devil is scared of Nigerians. Although We are being told that our economy has become the fastest growing in Africa, and that Nigeria is progressing, But I don't know if there is another Nigeria, or if it's this same Nigeria that we are all living in, that has the fastest growing economy in Africa, is mtn project fame or Nigerian idols part of economic developments? Is gulder ultimate search a part of youth development? What is happening to this country? Our youths are becoming dumber by the day, if you don't hear skelewu this or ginger your swagger that, then you've not heard anything, Only God knows the truth of the situation of this country. May God save us all from the problems our leaders are creating for us in the future. |

bolaino: The Nigerian situation is pathetic, and saddening, How did we get to this point? I sometimes wonder how we live with ourselves. Everyday we keep hearing the same old news of problems here and there, with no improvements. May God save us all from the problems our leaders are creating for us in the future.I truncated your post so I can be sure you are the same person I am quoting! Did someone back your ID? I can't believe you wrote that because you for months have been one dogged defender of this government you are now beginning to sing a different tune! I would guess the only thing that makes you a less evil is that now you see the hordes of posters in NL who have been paid to defend and propagandize online forums while poor you did it because of your belief in this colorless and corrupt government! However, I admit you raise critical points that are true! I have consistently raised same and more only to be attack by paid hacks! In the politics section there were 3 forces: the neutral, docile and passive ones who are here to learn, the vocal one who are passionate about Nigeria and Nigerian welfare regardless of tribe, location or religion and the tribalists! Of course you can tell that the battle has always been between the two latter groups but today their is now the 4th dimension: the paid hordes of GEJ 2019 who have no regard for nothing else and they muddy up this forum so badly, it has out "true" supporters like you out of business! To your other points: Nigerians have made the biggest mistake after Yaradua by buying the dummy of no shoes by this clueless president. All the problems you listed are the job description of the president, leading from the front, not God, and God knows this and that is why he will not do anything about it, so it looks as though God is not there but he is! He is doing his job to a Tee, keep the earth lighted and the universe and their planets spinning, providing for the animals and fishes, ensuring that all his natural laws are in force! However he was not on the ballot in 2011 and he knows after a meal is placed in front of a man, it is his job to eat it, not for Him to come and feed him! |

Nigerians are really suffering and they seem not to know it or are indifferent or have resigned to their fate and few try to run out of the country to where governments are truly controlled by the people and things get done! Oh, no country in the world is perfect but only if Nigerians understand what an excellent society is? What a society is? Can Nigerians imagine living in a country they never have to care about licking the asses of anyone because of food or daily provisions? Where your skill and time, no matter how low-skilled and talentless you may be in your life guarantees you at least a job from age 16 at minimum wage which converts to about N 1,500 per hour no questions asked, you don't have to beg your boss or be more nice than doing your job and at the end of the week, your money is in your bank account! So you don't like this minimum wage job, well go get a university education or have a really good idea or be very talented and you will be almost writing your own ticket to a better life and you can look your president in the eye and tell him, I don't like you and I will not vote for you and NOTHING will happen! No something will: the president will go back and work harder to convince you that he merits your vote and is ready to do do better today than pray that God should come and do his job! How many Nigerians earning day about N 10 M per annum, are just tired of the job after a few years say 2 or 3 and say in 3 - 6months, I will change jobs, I will start interviewing in 6 weeks time so I will prepare myself! I want a job in the aerospace industry where I want to work on the design of the next big idea in aviation, I want to work to create a new airframe with superior aerodynamics or bet in class jet engines that will put the current GE 9X engines to shame! The team has to be interesting and I am expecting a salary range that is at least 1.5 - 2.0 times my current earnings! Well this is possible in some countries and you can even do better, depending on your motivation, intelligence and hardwork! But young Nigerians have been taught to only beg for 5,000 PDP lapdog jobs and 2 pounds of rice during elections! What a shame! Imagine here, a man can take his wife and 3 children on a vacation in the Bahamas for $2,300 each and they only have a regular job (not politicians but you will need to be serious and smart to be a doctor which they are), can any random Nigerian doctor afford that for each member of the family and not need to queue to get visas? Here kids less than 15 are already travelling to different parts of the world playing mini-competitions in different sports from their community sports leagues, who will give even a working class Nigerian visas to gallivant the world? Every month, people get invitations to move to another country Nigerians are dying at the embassy to get a visa out of the hell hole they are defending but no sane country respects Nigerians to be given such a generous amount of trust and freedom but still Nigerians can not make the connection to the politics and perception of the entire country and actual standing that is the ultimate responsibility of the government, to lead the country to greatness? Asides the freedom, opportunities, a beautiful environment, which I have hardly thought about for a long time, the most important reason I am really pleased about not being in Nigeria is to witness the sickening, absurd, gut-wrenching and despicable things the politicians in Nigeria are making the people pass through and the acquiescence of this subdued Nigerians to their lot in life! So pathetic! |

The more reason why am actively working on abandoning this hellish country to seek asylum in one of those scandanavian countries or canada. I can actually claim a genuine threat to life complaint, because am from the north east of this hell hole where its known as the hot bed of terrorism, am active online, and condemned bh on various forums, therefore i actually have a genuine reason to be afraid so my freedom liking, socializing loving self doesn't fall into the hands of these barbarians. Am a muslim myself, but i just know i can't coexist with these extrimists in the same region as i might be considered too progressive or too moderate. Another reason i will abandon this country is cuz of utter disapointment. Imaging lack of electricity, water, good roads, god fatherism e.t.c I deserve a better life than this joor |

bolaino: it's a terrible situation down here my good sire, the leadership of this country has failed us. Very saddening.Thank goodness you honestly see it! It is unimaginable that people still defend this government, as though a government's action does not either kill the people or give them life! I am realistic not to expect that any government will share pies to all from the sky, but even in life, I mean in the personal life of any reasonable human, if you try something for 15 years and it doesn't work, what do you do? You change it! Oh maybe the next one won't work or might just be marginally better but you already know what has not worked for 15 years! Yet Nigerians cannot see that, or at least most Nigerians on NL and most in real life who have taken 2 lbs bag of rice cannot see that! It breaks my heart too but I am beginning to be immune to the suffering of Nigerians because I think they deserve it: a people get the government they deserve! All the paid posters of GEJ forget that 4 years is very small compared to the number of years others would be leaders or president! What this means is that it is his chance to create an equitable and just Nigeria, create a system that is working before any other leader who has ulterior motives can perpetuate the manner of governance that has ruined Nigerians! However, he has not and they do not care because he is their son, the president! They forget that after GEJ will come another president from another part of the country who will now point to all these posts and do exactly all GEJ has done but the positive could be aimed at his own part of the country or private estates and all the bad will be aimed at the cry babies then. The next president in all probability will come from the north, just because of Yaradua's problem, it is almost a moral imperative! However, the only thing needed to change that was a GEJ who should have blazed the trail so brightly, so solidly that any new president will almost be ashamed to not come to the table with sterling qualities! This will immediately energize all parts of Nigeria from the smallest parts to the biggest but Jona has failed! When the new president comes, his policy will most likely reverse and stall all progress Jona may have made to put his people in all the viable positions and corner all the wealth. The militants guarding the coast may be shoved aside and just think of the fact they will naturally resist a move that stops them from eating N 300 B per month in stolen crudes and N 8 B per year for their contract! They will go to the creeks to fight again and then, this new president will deploy the army again! Remember, what is good for the goose is good for the gander? BH have shown they would rather be blown to a million pieces and have nothing going for them in life, can the majority of the people in the Delta say that? There are millions of ND, SS, etc who know they have done so much better already without government help by getting even a degree and a job and moving up, for them it is only a matter of time! Well, for a 100 militants (for example) a new president deploys a 40,000 strong military to subdue the entire land by force! What will happen? Who will lose? Will Jona be able to lift a muscle then? Will other parts of Nigeria not point to the past 5 years on what JOna did elsewhere? Well, I foresee dark, ominous clouds for Nigerians if they do not immediately change course! |

However, he has not and they do not care because he is their son, the president!hmmmmm, my brother, I see dark days ahead, I see problems ahead for this nation, not because I do not have faith in this great country or because I do not want this country to progress, but because of the deepening Religio/ethnic divide that is being created everyday by mr president, I am from the south, But I will not hide under the umbrella of the president is an ijaw man so I must support him, most of the problems we are facing currently in this country are as a result of the president's lack of good leadership skills, come 2015 I expect us to have a new president, if for nothing at least for us to have a breath of fresh air, but I doubt that will happen, our president is corrupt and he'll rig his way to power again, mark my words, he is not a bad man, he is just a corrupt man, and you know that stealing and corruption are not the same, and not that big a deal to him, any leader who seeks to cover up for the mistakes of his leadership is a cowardly and weak leader, Nigeria is a unique country and we need disciplined leaders, president jonathan has created problems for the Niger delta, when he leaves office and a northerner comes to power, the amnesty program would be stopped and we might be faced with the same problems that once created the militancy situation in the first place. It's a terrible situation sire, I am honestly scared for the future of this country, I pray God intervenes, if not we are doomed, but like you rightly said, we deserve what's happening to us. We really do, we always support corruption and materialism, these things happening to us today, are the results of our approval of corruption. |

It is quite pathetic. PDP is a cancer to this nation. They thrive on tribal and religious politics, thus further widening the divide. But what we have failed to see is, there are only two sides in this war. Not PDP v APC but the MASSES/ORDINARY NIGERIANS v. the POLITICIANS. We can start by changing our attitude and approach to life and our nation. Whether Ibo,Yoruba,Hausa, your birth place is Nigeria. |
