adeyemik: What is needed on this thread are constructive criticism that would bring about positive change in our military, and words of encouragement to the troops at the frontlines who putting their lives in harms way so that you and I can live.
Yes, and leak out vital information while giving constructive criticism which you are not qualified or experience enough to give.

Sparrow13: pardon my ignorance, 4 pilots on 1 helo ?
No..1 pilot, 1 weapon systems operator, and one in-flight technician..last person was just a crew member.

Most modern attack helicopters are configured for a crew of two - the pilot in the back seat, and the weapons officer in the nose, so it is odd that a crew of 4 is mentioned in this initial report.

Sad to hear about the death of 3 people on board the Mi 35 helicopter and a great loss to the air force, we now have -1 helicopter

the helicopter was SHOT DOWN am sorry Chris Olukalade (Nigeria's no 1 Liar for the moment ) we don't believe it crash on a training mission in a conflict zone .
Fact is Nigerians don't believe the liars called PR statements released by the Military any more, The Military keeps failing, BH have the upper hand as said by TY Danjuma and confirmed by the recent events

adeyemik: In modern day warfare, propaganda plays a major role. In the recent downing of MH 17, one can see the way Ukraine has use the propaganda machinery to their favour, Israel is currently doing the same in its war against the Hamas, many other countries had used this vital element to their advantage. Some couple of months ago, during the North and South Korea crisis, US Airforce flew two B2 bombers to South Korean which was widely reported; this singular act of the US, was enough of the North Koreans to retrace their steps and agree to a truce, because North Korea knew the massive destruction the two bird could do when called to action.

In the context of the above, can the same thing be said of Nigeria in the current war in the North East? The answer is No. Not using this warfare element is one of the reason why this war has lingered for so many months and years, and Boko Haram seems to be winning the war. There is news blackout on the giant strides made by the Nigeria Army on both the print and electronic media, no footage of fire fight won by the Nigeria Army posted on youtube, no face(s) of captured or killed Boko Haram commander(s) flying around the social media. The Nigeria Army failure in this regard, is giving Nigerians impression our military are incapable to prosecute this war successfully. Omnri and his media cohorts saddled with this assignment has failed to accomplish the task.

Fortunately for Nigerians and the Nigeria Army, someone with the alias SiriusBlack, knows the important role propaganda plays in every warfare and is actively filling this void at the risk of his life. Sirius is playing an image laundering role for the Nigeria Army, and its availing people having good military background and experience to give useful suggestions that can improve the soldiers on the field. Through Sirius act, Nigerian have come to the understanding that past leaders had staved, improvised and neglected the Nigeria military and the need for Nigerians to ask for a probe to know what the huge yearly the defense budget was spent on.

I won't be surprised if the President's, defense and military minders goes through this thread because one of the clarion call of Sirius and other well meaning forumites was the urgent rebasing of the Nigerian Army armory, this call was yielded to by the President in his recent request to borrow a $1 Billion to re-equip the armory with modern day weaponry as against the civil war junks.

For those who are crying wolf about classified information, I implore them to go to Youtube and watch the live video for fire fights between Israel and Hamas, US and Taliban, see footage of British soldiers actively engages in fire fight with the enemies, watch the footage of making of B2, F22 and F16 stealth fighters, watch the making of the aircraft carriers etc. You wolf criers, can you guys point just one aspect of the classified information that has been posted on this thread. Is the picture of the gallant soldiers classified? For those Sirius think that revealing their faces would compromise their safety, he blanked out their faces. Is showing Igirigi APC a classified information? Is showing the tanks, Hilux, soldiers at the check point and guns of various types classified? Please let us to know.

If not for Sirius, am sure everyone thought that Sambisa forest is akin to Amazon forest in South America, his post made most of use to know that Sambisa is a lowland savanna as against it been a very thick forest. This thread has made many to know that AK47 has an effective range and so on. Has the forum not revealed that Nigeria don't have a air power and need to be urgently acquired.

These thread is not for PHD invested people like Quid and his likes. What is needed on this thread are constructive criticism that would bring about positive change in our military, and words of encouragement to the troops at the frontlines who putting their lives in harms way so that you and I can live.

First of all Borno state has a sizeable indigenous Christian population. I have family from the Munguno area who have been Christians for five generations now.
I bet you, the indigenous Christians of Borno have borne a disproportionate amount of the casualties.

@Quid

Mr. qualified and experience, I challenge you to a debate on military history and how modern warfare are fought and won. And am sure you don't know what is called classified information in military parlance or intelligence circle, it would be a waste of time contending with you on it.

Mr. keyboard warrior, can point out one classified information that has been disclosed on this thread.

Keep on putting on your jacket of ignorance.

Kai . . . stop using grammar to conceal mumu ideas.

Information does not need to be classified in order to be sensitive.

Sirius has given out enough information about weaponry in his photos, now the boko boyz can simply order for WEAPONS MORE ADVANCED THAN THOSE IN THE PICTURES . . .then those army guys are doomed.

Besides, stop thinking that you work for the American CIA by always alluding to "classified information"

Very possible

This is why Nigeria must introduce yearly project on design and development of weapons by our public/private universities and polytechnics.

Am sure if we start it, the money we spend importing one heli will be used to produce 3 state of the art helis.

I have read with great amusement, your constant bashing of this thread...I know how you come here at 3:am to heap accusations on me..calling me a betrayer and all that...
Let me tell you something...No amount of insults, abuse, and accusations will ever make me stop my work...you can come here, post photos of sulptures, and other stuff like you have done in the past, it just won't stop me..I will keep posting photos from the frontlines, relaying requests for equipment upgrades, and when we eventually get Shekau, I will break my no corpses policy and get exclusive photos to put here..I'm not going to argue with you over what you call classified or otherwise, Only if soldiers at the frontlines tell me to stop, that I will, and so far, I have peeps who keep pleading with me to also put their own photos online too..So you see, shout and scream from now till next year, I will keep posting...you can't stop me..This thread is not for me, or you, or for Gen.Minimah...this thread is a piece of history that 30 years from now, will be vey valuable...Since our journalists prefer to chase celebrities than get behind the camera and visit Maiduguri, I will make this thread my work...Only my death can stop this work...Our troops's stories have to be told...NLders, if I eventually pay the ultimate price, I have given instructions to a close friend, to reveal my identity...till then, this is my war..quid, this is the last message I will ever send you.
God bless a Unified Nigeria.

Clearly that horrid little troll has a personal agenda of some sort, but simply ignoring it should suffice. You are doing a commendable job SiriusBlack, but even at that, there are BOUND to be those who are simply jealous of your access to this front line story, and who are along for a free ride on your coat-tails, as they spew negativity in a desperate bid to draw attention where there won't be any.

Should you feel inclined to do so, a word to the moderators might be enough to enlist their help in cleaning up this thread by deleting all posted images that are clearly NOT related to the topic.
