Barely two weeks after the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) endorsed President Jonathan as the sole candidate for the presidency for a second term, the Niger state chapter of the party also on Tuesday unanimously adopted Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu as its sole candidate for the Niger East Senatorial District come 2015.

The adoption of Governor Aliyu followed a solidarity rally in the nine local government areas of the zone organised by a political group, Talba Success Movement (TSM) where over 500,000 signatures were collected calling on the Governor contest the 2015 senatorial election.

The signatures of over 500,000 party faithful from Niger East Senatorial zone cut across party elders and youths from the nine Local Government Areas that made up the zone.

The state Coordinator of the Talba Success Movement, Alhaji Hamisu Jankaro while briefing newsmen in Minna on the outcome of the group’s two weeks tour of the zone to rally support for the governor, disclosed that most youth organisations in the zone have already endorsed the Governor as the sole candidate to contest the 2015 election.

Also over the weekend, no fewer than 250,000 women from the zone under the auspices of “Niger Women in Politics”, endorsed Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu for senate.

According to the Coordinator, Honourable Fati Abubakar “the women believe that Governor Aliyu has given so much to women and deserves to represent us at the senate come 2015″.

She disclosed that the women have also vowed to match to the residence of the Governor if he refuses to heed to their demand to contest for the senate, adding that additional 250,000 signatures will be collected before this weekend for an onward delivery to the Governor.

However, Hamisu Jankaro said that the solidarity rally took the TSM to all the nine local government areas in the zone where it had consultations

When asked of what becomes the faith of the recently elected senator for the Zone in just concluded bye election in August, Dr Shem Nuhu Zagbayi, he said Governor Aliyu like any other citizen of the country is free to contest election into any elective position in the country.

“The people of Suleja through the Vice Chairman of PDP, Alhaji Mamman Gombo has said that the Suleja Emirate has conceded the contest to Governor Aliyu if he wanted to contest even though Dr Zagbayi is from the Suleja Emirate.

“Moreover, the Chief Servant never come out to say he wanted to contest the Governor’s seat he is occupying today but the people of the state asked him to come and contest, and the same people are now asking him to come again and represent them at the Senate come 2015″ he declared.

This is an OLD trick

I heard this man is from Sokoto. That aside, why has PDP been lying to Nigerians since its formation in 1999?! How on earth did they get 500,000 signatures in Niger East alone when it's obvious that their electorates are not up to that number?! They still told us they got a numerous signature in the North East when they know within themselves that they would hardly get up to 200 signatures from that place!

Besides, these are still the same people blasting the people's General for seeking to be the Consensus Candidate of APC, when they've almost endorsed people to vie for all their Seats. No Presidential primaries, because GEJ has been endorsed; no Governorship Primaries in Ebonyi cos of Prof. Onyeabuchi Chukwu; they're about to rob Sen. Ayogu Eze in Enugu and now they've endorsed Gov. Aliyu Babangida. Tomorrow, they'd come and tell us that APC as a party does not practise Democracy!

PDP now the "consensus" and "sole candidate" Party. What say those who vowed to only follow the PDP because the Party is "more democratic" than others? Did some not bore us to death shouting that the PDP would never be about "consensus candidate" and "unopposed aspirants"? The hypocrisy and naivete of some Nigerians is amusing to say the least.

Na wa o... Governors contesting for senatorial seats... Senators contesting for guber- seats... Top presidential candidates all past leaders... How then will the freshers get into power/leadership...

GEJ simply pledged to let those still interested in political office get whatever position they want unopposed while others looking for a final 'pay day' have been given the freedom of the city to loot to their hearts content without any fear of prosecution. GEJ's ambition is very dangerous for Nigeria. This is just the beginning because GEJ is a President who does not mind helping looters and misrulers take control everywhere so long as they help him remain President beyond 2015. Not good for Nigeria at all. The APC should simply profit from this by providing formidable candidates to take on the expired garbage , like Aliyu, GEJ has done nefarious deals with.

Meanwhile am waiting for Pa Jang and Pa Elechi versions

PDP is more organize and united now than ever. Hence, it can adopt and endorse this endorse that. Thanks to the exit of the rebels.

Psychologically, mentally, spiritually and physically PDP is ready for 2015.

Seasons of endorsement 1 and 2. How i wish oda political parties wud be able 2 choose a credible candidate tro primaries so we can put an end 2 dis menace.

Can hardly wait to see some of these men become totally irrelevant in the scheme of things in this country.
They are just a bunch of yoke that need to be put down as soon as possible.

Aliyu says "the people" want him there, Theodore Orji says "Jesus wants him there"!! I wonder what the next crook is gonna tell us is his motivation for seeking the position.
