Imo state Governor, Rochas
Okorocha has bragged that
his new political party, the
All Progressives Congress,
APC will rule the state for 20
years without interruption
from any opposition party.
According to THE SUN,
Okorocha made the boast
on Tuesday while
inaugurating officers and
members of the state’s
Campaign Council.
Okorocha said, "We are
working. And with that, we
have been able to silence the
PDP, and we intend to
sustain that for life. We have
no gun, but the people. Our
work or the performance of
the administration has
destroyed the PDP in the
state.
"We only need to close ranks
to achieve the goal. I am
preparing the ground so
that the younger ones will
have opportunities
tomorrow. We have sent
those who held the state on
ground for decades packing.
"The masses are behind us
because they have seen the
difference. We won’t relent.
We will not rest on our oars.
We will continue to
empower the youths to be
useful to themselves and to
the society, and not as thugs
like the PDP did.

wetheral road seems to be the widest dualized road in Imo state. Douglas road needs to be widened too. The traffic on that road is terrible.

I also await pictures from Okigwe too.

@ abagoro, you have bn showing carnival and hotels as development of our state.

What about roads and bridge?

What is the on going projects in our state now?

Where is the project site?

Which construction company is working in ino state now?

Where is the project to affect the lives of common man?

Who benefits from the hotel business and carnival ?

what is the status of work on the failed part of world bank roads and imsu junction?
Re: Few Pics From Imo State by vanbonattel: 2:47pm On Oct 08, 2014
when are we knocking down the useless pedestrian bridge in owerre that nobody uses, is it not waste of money?
Re: Few Pics From Imo State by UnknownT: 5:04pm On Oct 08, 2014
1. The new Market abi Mall being constructed at Umuaka.
2. Rotary Intersection at Nworieubi (Mbaitolu)

Don't mind my camera quality. Passed through that flyover at amakohia, the project is as good as abandoned! Didn't bother taking a pic, the pic wouldn't worth it

Re: Few Pics From Imo State by millionaireman:
It is indisputable - Gov. Rochas Okorocha has positively improved the landscape of Imo state - more than any past Imo state governor, in a record time of three years - not even late Gov. Sam Mbakwe achieved that feat.

As for ignoring building of flyovers which are no more in vogue worldwide where roundabouts can suffice, Okorocha's government is on the right track. Flyovers are built on high-speed roads for interchange of directions. No road in Imo state is high-speed. Above all, no modern city developer can go for usually ugly, obstructive and expensive flyover when there is possibility of building a roundabout, even if it requires bulldozing large and costly premises to realize the roundabout.

Wetheral, Douglas, Bank and parts of Okigwe road are same width. I think the widest roads in Owerri are within the New Owerri as the lawns in dividing the two lanes are wider than most roads in old town and 98% of Nigerian roads.

to me,okigwe road is wide but there is always a serious traffic or hold up btw 5,6 or 7pm because it s one lane road that lead to okigwe, akabor, ikeduru, amaraku, and umuezeala in ehime mbano and other state like umuahia,in abia state.
I think rochas need to work harder to create another lane frm msu junction side,or around aladinma vicinity so as to reduce the hold up being encounter in okigwe road only..
pls broda, any hope frm okigwe town? cheesy
I cant wait to c all igboland develop at once..it s well

3 new Bridges have been built across Nworie River linking Dee Sam Road and New Owerri without passing through Nekede or Control. A 4th one is nearing completion.

This is the estate Osita Iheme bought 100million Naira land. It was launched by Achike Udenwa admin right around Hero Square.

I've been a silent follower of this thread and I must confess I always feel nostalgic each time I see lovely pictures of Owerri. The pictures make me feel like taking the next flight to my village.

The last time I was in Owerri was in 2009, and the environment was quite impressive as at time. I felt like I was in a highbrow area in Lagos.

But I don't know why I've not seen pictures of my hometown, Ikeduru, of all the pictures posted here. I don't know how true, but I learnt Rochas is starving Ikeduru of development.

Above all, the development across all sector is quite impressive. I can't wait to visit my state this December and post pictures on this thread.

I won't mind seeing some lovely pictures of Ikeduru. God bless us all.

Then as anambra and nnewi boy also I can say I have the best of both worlds..i can speak owerri fluently and anambra fluently, its been a long I visited owerri, still have family house just near weatheral road off school road, the last time I was there I couldn’t locate the roads. I wa like JJC in new owerri especially those concorde area
Re: Few Pics From Imo State by FACE(m): 7:57pm On Oct 09, 2014
Keke na pepe like soldier ants everywhere and there were at least 20000 registered keke na pepes in Owerri as at August. The level of commercial activities has also risen exponentially and places like Ikenegbu and world bank are now heavily commercialised. Town is almost like a mini Aba in terms of business activities. A few times when we went to Tetlow, we found it easier to leave our car along the road and used keke to other places like ama awusa, since kekes can meander through traffic, but I wish they had their own lanes just to avoid clogging up the roads.

Several new roads have been created but traffic jams persist, even on weekends. I concluded that rapid expansion has brought significant population increase and I will not be shocked if the population has risen to between 1.5 and 2 million
